enough forsight to wait to play MP?
So yeah everyone deserves to have prestiged cards regardless if online or offline as well!
It’s not a question of being “deserving”. You bought the game, you can access any feature/card you want.
I just don’t want your offline experience to compromise my online experience.
How does someone aquiring a prestige card offline have to do with your online experience? I'm confused?
If you face against person prestige in h2h aren't you both online?
I feel like it's a bit elitest for those who play alot online and prestiged players. It's more "i did it in way that was harder, so you should have to do it that way too". Let's be honest, most prestiged cards aren't significantly better than the non prestiged version. It's bragging rights and a sense of accomplishment more than having a much better card.
I say, take the same approach that they already do when they have a path that includes online and offline. Let online count essentially double and be done with it. If someone wants to spent 30 hours playing rookie cpu over and over to get those +3s, have at it. Online will get you there in 15 or whatever plus rewards from whatever online mode you were playing. When I saw someone with lou gehrig or even babe earlier, I was like, ok this guy put in work. When I saw people having all those finest cards done in a week, I was less impressed given you could use them in events that were notoriously generous.
Or........ if you prestige offline it only counts on All Star difficulty or higher eliminating the rookie grind altogether and that way attributes be same

I wouldn't mind that. I think rookie is harder to hit on than all star anyway lol
Not sure if it would be annoying to code to look for difficulty and then apply stat counting or not. We know they have issues sometimes with similar things..
-
I only started the game in August. I got both Mantle and Trout collections done while playing mostly offline. As a newbie I was intimidated at playing online. I don't get to play very long every day (father of 4 with a full time job) so I only have time for like a hour most days. I stormed through moments, conquests and most everything else offline. For the past few months I've dabbled online, I'm not great. I struggle a lot, but I still have fun. I'm around 30 and 20, not great, but as a first time online player I'm happy with it. I've only prestiged a handful of players (Nick Anderson, Gallegos, DeGrom, Gallen and Soto) But I'm definitely interested in prestiging more next year on or offline.

As long as people can prestige in events, there is absolutely no argument that can be made to justify it being online only. Playing the CPU on rookie would take longer to prestige a card than the “grinding” that went on in events this year.
-
My history with the series is odd, I played many many games against the CPU in 18, 19, and the early months of 20. This was for players(18)and team affinities. (19,20) Now I am to the point where I do not want to play the cpu at all even for player program moments. I played so much against the cpu because any time I got online I would be absolutely wrecked. Now I only want to play PvP but I can understand being willing to play cpu to grind players/stats etc. I will probably pay someone to unlock single player moments in 21.
-
I don't get the players who don't want to allow offline grinding to earn prestige cards. It definitely seems like they just want to be part of a more elite club. I don't buy the argument of "why do you need prestige cards offline argument" because, honestly, I could say the same thing about online as well. You won't convince me that the minor stat boosts make any more difference online than they do offline.
Secondly, I would make a wager that the following statements would be true.
-
The vast majority of players who would grind for prestige players offline play very little of the online modes.
-
The vast majority of the players who prefer online play have no desire to grind against the CPU for something they could grind online for.

A LOT of talk about letting offline stats count towards prestiging cards. So I did some research last night.
I prestiged 7 cards this year (all pitchers):
Paxton
Gallegos
Anderson
Felix
Oswalt
Feller
RiveraI then went and looked at my offline stats, added them to my online stats, and see if they'd have made a difference.
Cards I would have prestiged if Offline counted:
Hendricks
Maddux
SniderCards I was only a category or 2 off from prestiging if offline counted:
Chipper
Gregorious
Helton
MantleNow, if we knew going in that offline stats counted, that DEFINTELY would have affected lineup construction. But as it is, not counting online stats ended up not making much of a difference.
I think the main reason for offline is to steer people away from stat-wh0ring and trading homers on event games.

I disagree. I don’t think accumulating innings pitched and strikeouts vs the cpu on ANY difficulty can be compared to doing so versus opponents online, event or otherwise.
Besides, if you are saying prestiging cards online in events is easy, then what is the rub? Why don’t all you cpu grinders just play events then?
Honestly, our discussion is moot because they will do whatever they do regardless of popular opinion.
The real issue is not prestiging cards online or offline, it is that online gameplay is awful.

Remove prestige all together imo.
Bring back My Career missions, add players to those missions as rewards.
Since I was new to DD this year, can you explain "My Career" missions in 100 words or less?

Completing basic mission tiers earned you stubs, xp, and tickets that were used at the ticket counter for cards. Missions started as common, and as your progressed through the tiers diamond would reward you 14k stubs.

I don’t want to play a bunch of prestige cards somebody grinded for vs cpu.
I never understand why people care how others acquire cards...l am a veteran maybe all star player I won’t beat a legend type player but would like for enjoy cards of my favorite players
Especially considering that people who grind vs the CPU for cards are weak players, which is why they play vs CPU. A good online player knows that it's about using cards that you are good with not just using the best cards. Give me a God squad and put me up against any top player and let them only choose gold or less and they will beat me 10 out of 10 times.
Very true. Take KevinGohd for example. He is a very talented player. If you give him the best statistic players, he does not perform as well with those cards as he does with his usual team. Even though some of those cards on his current team are not "GodSquad" worthy cards. Its all about comfort. I had a better avg with mcutchin than i do currently with machado.
That cutch was criminally underrated. It also seemed like everyone Grooved hun a first pitch heater

I prestiged both Rivera and Orel in events and it wasn’t all that much harder/more time consuming than playing cpu. Start the pitcher, pitch a few innings, quit, forfeit entry, and back in. I had no problem in either case getting the k’s in before the innings were done, so the on.y time difference between that and cpu play was the re-entering of the event.
-
because many people hate h2h play (including events).
I go back to, there is no legitimate reason to have prestige online only if it can be done in events.

I really am not understanding your point.
Your #2 is my sticking point. Why don’t “those people” like to play h2h? I would venture to say it is because they are not good enough to do as you suggest.
I don’t love grinding vs cpu. I think the entire point of DD is to put together your best team then play against others. That said, if I need to do it to get a certain card, then I will.
The whole, “why can’t us offline grinders prestige our cards the way we want to” just comes off as wanting to get something without actually earning it.
It’s like me saying, “I don’t like grinding vs cpu but I want Gehrig and Ruth. Give me Gehrig and Ruth as online rewards too!”

People hate h2h for many reasons, but for me personally it is to avoid all the basement dwelling losers who make a mockery of the game (bunt dancing, infinite extra leads, diving around on pop ups, etc)
Please never again use the word earn with prestiged cards. If it was ranked only you might have a gripe, but getting prestiged in events didn’t require anything other than grinding or knowing how to change your team name.

MLB The Show 17: Had MyCareer missions with a chance to earn 23K worth of stubs for each for 16 different stat types. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1BoB4tHuuc
18: Essentially replaced by monthly timed missions that spread out the requirements and rewards over the course of the year.
19: Folded into the Innings Programs, where every 3 to 4 weeks during the season, a new program came out that combined stat grinds, collections, moments, conquest, daily missions, and a few other nuggets to give a s***-ton of rewards, including "end game" players.
20: Innings Program continued, with A GARGANTUAN amount of free packs just waiting to be collected.

The first part of what you said sounds really assumptive and condescending. I put about 1,000 hours a year into the game, I just hate playing online. Offline is more relaxed, I can pause whenever I want, no goober opponents running down the timer or acting like idiots, I can play in MLB parks, etc. Yes, some players work better for me and I use those guys. I start Johnny Damon over Mantle, Trea Turner over Tatis, but that’s who I hit best with. Would I use Prestiged Mantle? No, but I would love a Prestiged Damon. Why shouldn’t I be able to get one, even if the grind is on Hall Of Fame or above?
-
Prestige was a useless time sink. Spend more time playing with a card to get a better one you ended up using less. Watching your earned stats disappear because people would dashboard.
I just lost another Trout HR to a dashboard in the new event. 1 hit, 1 XBH, 1 run, and 2 RBIs out the dang door because someone got a case of hurtbut.
They should've know better from previous years where online stats created an issue. I wish prestige would go the way of the immortals and souvenirs (disappear). If it does come back, it needs to be inclusive for online or offline and people can quit worrying about how cards are earned and play the game

This. This. THIS.
Once I prestiged a card, I never used them again because I was too busy prestiging everyone else.
