Day 1 New Player Tips and Strategies

This thread is intended for those of you who are new to Diamond Dynasty! Maybe after watching the the Diamond Dynasty stream on Saturday you were a little overwhelmed with all the information provided?

Well I am going to list a strategy for Players who are new to Diamond Dynasty in hopes of making your experience as seamless as possible while also providing a way to start creating your Dream Team from day 1!

Now real quick as the Devs have mentioned Diamond Dynasty is a team of your favorite players that you get to create/build from scratch! Below I am going to mention Tips,Tricks and strategies that will give you an opportunity to get your team going down the right path!

Now these tips, tricks and strategies are based off of information received from the streams up to this point from the Developers and some are based off of my experience with the mode.

#1 -First and foremost DO NOT feel like you have to jump into Ranked seasons right away! (Explanation to follow)

#2- Dynamic Difficulty this one is huge for new users and new Diamond Dynasty players! Dynamic Difficulty can be thought of as an "Evaluation" of what your skill level is each time this is used. Why is this important? Well when you start doing moments or challenges, i think it is great to know what level you are comfortable playing at. Which in turn will allow you to get the maximum amount of rewards at that time until you get better or more familiar with the game!

Where is Dynamic Difficulty setting available? The place i am going to talk about is March to October or also referred to as M2O! Now you are thinking "he is talking about M2O?" What does this have to do with Diamond Dynasty? It has alot to do with several aspects of how to get content for Diamond Dynasty! By playing M2O regardless what team you choose you will be earning Team affinity points, XP. and Program Points! All of these methods are affiliated with Diamond Dynasty one way or another.

M20 on average takes about 18 hours to get to the end of season. With the new reward gates implemented this year, if you complete a full season with a team your chances of earning 30 to 50 team affinity points in one season is greatly increased due to the Dynamic Difficulty setting.

But wait M2O is repeatable! So for the sake of conversation i will use the Nationals as an example. Lets say you play a season with the Nats and you didn't make it all the way to the post season Well based off of your performance there is still a good chance to earn 20-25 Team affinity points! That is huge! Why? Because at 25 team affinity points for every Team in MLB the show is a gold Prospect card ready to be implemented into your Diamond Dynasty Squad!

Now comes the repeatable part of the the mode! You set your difficulty to Dynamic again it is going to "Evaluate" your progression as the season goes. It's your second time around, chances of you knowing what to expect and perhaps finish at a higher difficulty reward increases simply because you chose "Dynamic Difficulty". So lets say you finish with 25 points again for the season! Well guess what 25 + 25 = Face of the Franchise Diamond player to put on your squad. But that isn't all because in between the player rewards you will also notice 4 packs that contain 4 players for that team specific and one item in each pack. So by reaching level 50 in team affinity per team you will have aquired approximately 18 players for that specific team.

With all that gameplay in lets say 2 days worth of playing maybe 3 not only did you get approx get 18 players for that team you have earned a nice little chunk of XP and program points just for playing 1 mode which also unlocks amazing rewards to place on your team!!

#3- Is a real quick and easy tip! Every year for the past 4 or 5 years maybe longer the developers have an area where you can earn quick XP just by simply collecting simple things like for instance 5 left fielders for 300 xp! I recommend doing each one of these, and before you know it you have unlocked the first pack in the XP program.

#4- Free Entries to battle Royal and Showdown! Use this as an opportunity to get your feet wet in the modes. Battle Royal entry you will get a MLB 20 pack at minimum as a reward. And you never know that free entry could be the 12-0 run that leads to whole other slew of rewards. But keep expectations of yourself low so not to get disappointed b/c even the best players in the world do not go 12-0 every time!

Showdown Entry it has been said by the developers that the first one is going to be easy so take the opportunity to get the most out of each level and discover perks and use it to your advantage. Again a chance for XP, stubs, program points, and a player reward at the end that again can be placed on your Diamond Dynasty Squad.

Ok so now you have played for a few days you have unlocked some cards for your squad you have a decent playable team!

#5- Conquest- This mode is really good mode for various reasons but mostly people like it for the hidden rewards. Conquest is a mode where you play 3 inning games and they are turn based. A great strategy to use here is build your team with players that include the team or teams you are working towards to unlock in Team Affinity.

But another strategy that you can use in Conquest especially with the changes this year with pitcher energy is approach it like Battle Royal and maybe set your lineup with the same structure as the Battle Royal lineup structure.

So this was a little longer than i expected it it to be so my apologies. But if you rinse and repeat these tips and strategies in 2 weeks time you possibly could have a team built and ready to go dive into Ranked seasons and see how you fair! But again i cannot stress enough how important Dynamic Difficulty can help you become a better player just by simply setting it it as your Difficulty setting and getting evaluated every time you play M2O.

Hope this helps you new players and I wish you lots of luck and remember it is all about having fun most of all!!

First of all welcome to the Community !!!

I am so excited to see new players that will be able to knock some of the arrogant players that are on the top leaderboards off of there high horse pedastals! With that being said most of players on leaderboards are good people and legit in there gameplay and will go out of there way to help you.

I've been playing since 2010ish, and thought i would give some tips and tricks suggestions along the way about things that maybe people don't talk about much. Or if you have a specific question about game or what to expect feel free to ask!!!

If i don't know the answer there are plenty of seasoned players that can!! U might even get a Developer to respond b/c that is one of the things about this Franchise they take pride in making your experience better and are very active with community. When not busy leaking info or playing with dolls or even a peticular dev who claims Phillies will win every year! 🙂

So one tip i will share is setup your gamestyle the way it makes you comfortable! What i mean is if you prefer directional hitting over zone hitting then by all means use directional hitting. Contrary to what some believe there is absolutely no inferior style!!!

So like i said questions or concerns ask away and again welcome to the Community!!!

What can i expect from developer streams prior to launch?

A plethora of information!! There will be you tubers and twitch streamers breaking down the videos afterwards so be sure to check them out! Majority of the time the developers will smack you with something so exciting that maybe u missed something else in regards that could be vital! No problem just rewatch stream over and over! Developers are very good at making that info available to rewatch immediately!!

PS community has some toxic people but nothing in comparision to what XBOX is going to bring over. its only going to get worse. MUT like toxic im afraid.

This. You think PS is bad with bunt cheesers, etc. If Xbox players see a glitch or any way they can get an advantage in RS, they will heavily exploit it. PUBG turned into a nightmare when they activated crossplay. Never seen so many radar and mod users in my life. Xbox players are a joke.

Posts like this is not what brings community together. CMON Man.

Xbox users most of us welcome you with open arms and hope you get to experience a great game like some of us have for years! 🙂

@hondarrbaby said in What do you want in RTTS 20:

I would like to see a revamp to contracts. Like as of right now, there is really no reason to go for the big bucks in the game. An idea is maybe for every $1,000 you get in your contract, you get 100 stubs, in order to prevent people from simulaying RTTS to get stubs, you must play at least 81 games, or a way to use your contract money in game would be easier.

I don't agree with the stubs, but i would like to see contract money spendable in the RTTS world for sure.

Perhaps start with a ragged ol glove, but as you get money you can purchase a glove rather than using the gloves and other stuff that is so high priced on the market. Or some sort of progression kinda like the XP rewards where u get an equipment choice pack perhaps?

@dino-might_not said in Offline Prestiging: That big a difference?:

I don't know why I never thought of this before, but the option to prestige your player offline but then only be able to use that card offline would be cool. You could have Online Prestige and Offline Prestige stats. Online counts for both but Offline only counts for the offline version and can't be used in online play. It wouldn't be two separate cards, just an icon on the card like No Sell after you collect it.

Yes, if people are so bothered by players obtaining good cards from grinding CPU on rookie, then yeah do this. Me I just personally hate playing people online, and want to be able to get any card I want without having to play people.

Ty glad i aint the only one who sees playing online is trash! I personally play All star or higher offline i have WAY more fun than online it actually feels like baseball!

All i witness in online is pure garbage from crappy pitching to stacked bunt teams or my favorite the guy who set his whole lineup to get your team to shift right every batter and btw so easy to counter! Very un-original. So many more reasons i could list.

@dadarkdingo367 said in Next or Current Gen - Unfair Advantage?:

Only difference so far i would notice would be graphics. SDS wouldn't give next gen the advantage. It's all about getting paired with someone of your skill level (i.e rookie with rookie or veteran with veteran). If someone from SDS would like to reply to this they'll say the same thing. I've NEVER been paired with a legend skill level on veteran. I always get paired with veteran players.

I think you are confusing opponent skill level (human) versus technology. You can own a PS5 and suck because maybe your stick skills are terrible. You still have the advantage of a more advanced tech with the PS5. You just might not put it to good use. No one plays in MLB stadiums because the FPS is terrible. With a PS5 you can. So little Johnnie with his 1st generation ps4 is gonna sit thru 9 innings of crappy frame rate loss while the PS5 owner has a smooth game. This has nothing to do with internet lag either BTW its just a superior machine that can process information faster.

This is my exact fear. So if this is true, then PS5 will have a clear advantage!!!

Not to mention this stupid create-a-stadium everyone is so pumped about (can we focus on getting good gameplay before we ask for goofy aesthetic [censored]?!).

The CAS will probably cause even greater frame rate loss with all the way combos ppl will create.

So they shouldn't have anything like stadium creator until gameplay is 100% perfect? It's not an either or. Just because a game adds content it doesn't always mean it comes at the expense of gameplay. Stadium creator will have 0 effect on the gameplay.

But time and resources were used to implement that when it could be re-directed to fine-tuning gameplay.

You don't know that. They aren't some indie company, they can have a team working on gameplay and a team working on stadium creator. For all we know 1 person did stadium creator over his lunch break, it isn't a really difficult feature to implement as it's been around forever. There will always be things people want to see improved with gameplay every year, that doesn't mean the game shouldn't ever add anything else new. Otherwise we're just playing the same game y2y with updates rosters.

You're on xbox, you know nothing about the year to year changes. Get lost twig

Wow! How do you know that person hasn't played on ps for last 10 years exclusively just for MLB? But now that it is on xbox he decided to buy xbox?

No need to be rude to people based off of system that shows up next to thier names. They have just as much right as you to post in these forums.

I cannot rate the games in order for there was too many changes in all areas for me to be able to compare evenly. But if i'm going to be honest TS20 is going in right direction there just needs to be tweeks made both offensively and defensively. And some universal changes.

I can't imagine how hard it is for SDS to find balance in MP. Several things i have been lobbying since 15 but it has caused to much controversy here so don't mention them anymore. Which forces me to play vs CPU until i see the changes.

Lol also while we are at it i think both teams should be able to setup defense prior to game start without pausing game. Then the clock isn't effected rest of game.

Reason i didn't say add more time on clock people would pause endlessly.

RE: Too much homeruns and useless contact hitters

@thierry007007 said in Too much homeruns and useless contact hitters:

This year game (2020) relies too much on homeruns to score resulting in homerun festivals. Contact hitters like Kenny Lofton are useless despite having great all around attributes (minus the arm strength lol). SDS said that they were going to fix the problem but failed to do so. In my opinion, separate hitting mechanics are needed for both contact and power hitters. Contact hitters should have specific hitting mechanics allowing them to put the ball in play without trying to hit for power. The current 3 dots system is clearly not enough to separate both contact and power hitters. Am I right ?

I agree with OP there is something quirky going on. These stand out the most as players that should be hitting to gaps in regards to comparison to hr hitters.

And of course some of it is b/c of user but guys like Tony and Kenny kept game alive or were rally starters. I don't feel that with them seems like opposite they hit into double plays or fly out in my experience.

Feel like only have them on my bench in case i need a pinch runner

@yoshiken25_psn said in What improvements do you want to see in RTTS for MLB The Show 21?:

Outfield defense is too bored in RTTS since MLB the Show 16 can they bring back MLB the Show 15 second person view in outfield defense ? it is the most realistic. I know it was not perfect and probably they took it out because many players complained. They just have to make it better. I still Play MLB the Show 15 because it is the most realistic version of MLB the Show RTTS. Not only in defense view also when you are hitting running the bases you can see the ball all the time in others version you have to hit a button or won't see the ball.

If you have ever played rocket league there is a feature that locks on to ball cam. This could be beneficial when fielding and baserunning.

Batting has showtime feature maybe something to that effect where only use it a few times per game maybe?

I’ve just checked TS16 and for those that didn’t know, DD (in that game at least) is considered an online mode and can no longer be played at all, not even conquest mode.

So @GrizzBear55_PSN, I am wrong, I shouldn’t be saying ‘offline DD’ because there is no such thing as you said.

From this moment forth, it shall be known as ‘single player DD’.

Don't praise me yet that could be because game 5 years old and they took server down. I would like to see if someone without ps+ can access 20 DD? 🙂

I understand all the disappointment with this next gen only. The reality is, technology moves extremely fast. Eventually limits are reached and its time to move on. Everything has a shelf life.

I think the point is the majority of the users will be on ps4. Not ps5 or the new Xbox. So the game should be more tailored to the majority

Not business model wise. The future is PS5 and the Xbox. By emphasizing the new gen, they will have a jump start of the capabilities of that system and have better games abs performance in the future.

Besides it looks like a joke to me, I’d rather have a real creator and not some frankenstadium. Also they won’t be online either way. It would be annoying playing at some version of polo grounds or some 400 foot green monsters over and over

Its already confirmed to be online, we just don't know the parameters. I'm honestly super pumped to make a few fields.

Source please. The promo video just says in DD and Franchise. DD could mean only offline DD and Franchise is only offline. If they’d said Leagues as well then that would confirm it. So either Leagues isn’t returning (unlikely) or it’s offline only. Or they messed up with their wording again.

This is the misconception within community, all of DD is online. Play Now, custom leagues, Franchise,RTTS,and M2O are the offline modes.

So technically create a stadium will be online. But what isn't clear is whether it will be allowed in competitive DD or vs CPU.

This is why it kills me when someone plays CPU they are considered "offline" player you have to have playstation plus to access any part of DD (don't know equivelant for xbox). Hope this clears things up for you. 🙂

But the only games locked behind PS Plus are the ones vs another hooman.

Yes DD has on online aspect (card collecting and marketplace) but there is offline gameplay (extra innings for example, or whatever it’s called now.

You cannot play any mode with your DD lineups without being online. If servers are down you can only play the aforementioned offline modes. If i am wrong let me know cuz there was times i wanted to complete things and couldn't.

So what your saying is i can play DD vs CPU without ps+? Because was under the impression you could play M2O without ps+ but you wouldn't be able to access rewards without being online.

PS plus is required for multiplayer, that’s it.

You are 100% positive? B/c if that's the case that will save me 60 bucks a year.

I can’t check because I have plus, but the store says ‘ Online multiplayer requires a PlayStation Plus membership’.

Vs CPU is not online multiplayer.

It also refers to ‘Online features’ separately.

I am 100% confident, but I can’t say that I am correct because as highlighted recently (re crossplay), what Sony says and how I interpret what Sony says seem to be two different things sometimes.

For example, I preordered the standard edition of MLB The Show 20 because the PlayStation store listing for it said early access: https://twitter.com/red_ted_is_back/status/1238342590627364865?s=21

When I queried PlayStation support (on day one of early access) why I didn’t get early access they said by email a few days later (convenient) that I wasn’t entitled to it. But your offer (store listing) says I am, I said (with screenshot). Sorry, no you’re not, was the reply. Yes I am, according to the description of what I purchased, I said, again referring to the screenshot from the store listing.

    Crickets.

I gave up forwarding my email every fortnight after two months because PlayStation Support did not have the testicular fortitude to respond and admit Sony’s mistake.

Sorry, I went off on a tangerine, but it feels good to talk about it 🙂
