It happens when another player has the same number. I assume the game gives it to the player with more seniority but it could also be based on rating.

I noticed it when I had an outfielder with the Twins. I chose #2. When I got to the majors, it switched to #4 because Arraez had that number and #3 was retired. When Arraez was traded that season my player got #2.

I also noticed when I had a player with the Rockies that Jose Berrios was #18 for three seasons with them and then Kris Bryant joined the team via trade mid season and Jose switched to #20.

These arent illegal slides though. This happens all the time. If the fielder gets in the baseline, which they have to touch the bag, also a new rule, use to just have to touch near the bag, it is on them to get out of the baseline if the runner is coming. So this usually leads to the fielder getting upended LEGALY, because they are in the baseline. That whole rule was implemented to keep baserunners from sliding OUT of the line of path to the base to take out the fielder. Something I have NEVER seen happen in this game. This includes sliding late and over shooting the bag to intentionally take out the fielder.

In short, what you say happens doesnt happen.

Definitely been a problem since at least TS19. I logged a bug report last year. It’s simply because the CPU teammates are shifted but there’s nothing coded in to take it into account for the RTTS player, either all of the time or under certain circumstances such as when a lefty is batting or for the SS only or combination of circumstances.

There's a setting called fielding assist. You have yours on. If you have a non diamond or gold D playing first, the annimation will have them get the sure out at first before anything else.

The -vis would have been a small amount lost, however the +dis would have been a bigger gain if achieved.

I agree with you though, it could have been better implemented.

As the other guy said you dont call every pitch, the only times that you do is during the showcase games in runner on first scenerios and like 1 or two of your first minor league games

another one, come up to bat with a man on first. I get the challenge "make solid contact and advance the runner". So i make solid contact (++pwr), get a single so obviously advanced the runner and then challenge failed. So how the hell did I fail?

Retired numbers ARE programmed for every team though. I tried choosing #35 for the White Sox and it just made me 36. I guess the coach’s uniforms are generated using a different set of data, but they absolutely have coded retired numbers into the game.

Being penalized for stuff behind your control, and asked to do stuff( sac bunt with guy 85+pwr, or steal with a 50 spd guy against the best catcher in the game)and in trouble or benched for not doing it is why I stopped playing rtts 2 years ago.and won't go back to it as long as it's like that.
