If you're talking what percentage in the game..that's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about what percentage of time does a MLB pitcher throw the pitches SDS credits him as throwing during a season...career..whatever. I would aspire to pitch the same way the real-life counterpart pitches.

And you’re too concerned about performance in a 2 month young season. SDS goes off the last 3 years, not the last 2 months. Bryant and Machado have long track records.

Well, I'm thinking there is a huge difference between the 2. First, in MLB throwing to 1B from the outfield is pretty much extinct. We used to pull it off in beer-league softball now and then. SDS should just code it so it can't happen. I'm pretty sure last year it worked on occasion.

But this base stealing thing is pure bastardizing a play in order to generate favorable animation for a desired outcome. AI manipulation.

Like comparing apples and oranges. No, there is a big problem with lead-off base-stealing that RNG uses carelessly and situationally to control outcomes..pure and simple.

Speed, base-stealing ability, situation, lead, pitch-type, catcher throwing, etc all those different determiners are just scrapped when AI decides it's time to produce an out. And, this same coding logic is rampant in the game. Probably why Confidence is meaningful..until it's not.

It's why ppl get very frustrated and vent on these forums. Most of the venting is an open invitation to the developers to fix it and do your best to make the game seem less fabricated. Sometimes calling them out, if they happen to be listening, might shame them into addressing exploitations and obvious manipulation.

And why gatekeepers hate ppl like us..we exploit what the game is. And then all the gatekeeper and fan-boyz got is "tin-foil" "tin-foil". Which, in the context of declaring a conspiracy on someone's evaluation of a software game is fairly lame and silly. It's coded software..it's never going to be REAL or reflective of an anti-conspiracy argument one way or the other. But when that's all the ammo or defense you have..you shoot those blanks.

Maybe create a new, nearly unattainable, card that covers the 95-100 range. Call it Double Diamond. Only through some sort of hundred-hour season-cumulative grind..which would also involve sacrificing existing diamonds in your stash would you even get close to them. But do make them a potential pull in the right sort of pack.

They basically did this already with immortals minus them being pullable and we saw how that went. People hated the long grinds and everything changed to more of what we have now.

also Sds has already shown that the other ones aren't as accurate, they have higher par or whatever they called it in a stream. (I.e. more variance on perfect releases). It's not some big secret that the others are less accurate.

But, like the OP said..shouldn't a perfect pitch with non-pinpoint also go where you intended it? I mean, .2 centimeters (if the eye could even register it) really shouldn't be the difference of hitting the outside of the box or missing it.

If SDS is suggesting that Pinpoint Pitching won't ever result in the much-griped about and fairly common pitch you intend to throw on the corner and ends up in the middle of the plate despite the fact you caught the meter exactly in the sweet spot.....then we might all as well abandon that ship (meaning all the other pitch modes).

But, I don't believe that will happen because then there will be no runs scored or, the AI will have to come up with some other animation anomaly to make it look like a pitch ended up a cement mixer.

You have to be 100% accurate in the first step of PPP to a have a guaranteed “hit the PAR” region. Not 75, 85 or 97%, a hundred. I know sometimes I hit a 100% and feel like I shouldn’t, but this is the first year of implementation. Maybe next year it will be a shade harder to hit 100 or it will be less forgiving.

It should be less precise with the other methods; they are scaled accordingly in difficulty: PPP to meter to analog to pulse. It’s 3-step vs 2 or 1 for pulse. Analog, meter or pulse have the same difficulty wether it’s a FB or a splitter, but PPP has levels according to pitch type.

But, to be fair, does what you just said make it ok that it took 25 days for someone to respond to a customer's incident report? To be really fair I would think if that info was already abound somewhere..didn't require any research for the support dept...they would have boomaranged that email back to me almost instantly.

So, the point wasn't the issue I had with PS5 account..to be fair, the point was how long it took support to respond.

Are you saying that's it is not possible that some people are better then others in this game? Because that's a pretty dumb argument, in virtually every game ever made there's going to be people who are just naturally better.

Plus, and this is something alot of people in the community can't seem to grasp, we don't all play linearly every game, if I was a .220 career hitter it doesnt mean I only hit .220 every game, I can have good games (that aren't just aided by rng) and there is nothing weird or strange about that.

I would pay 200 for a ps5 update of MVP Baseball 2005, the best baseball game ever made. Like the other poster mentioned, it would be nice to control my own outcome without some cheap AI deciding games.

That's another reason I didn't worry about grabbing the clip, it was Moments. Not that what shows up in Moments can't materialize in RS or any other mode. I would think it's all built on the same general code set. So what can get wormy in one can surely get wormy in another.

Yes and no on that last point. The DD single player grinding modes (Moments, Showdown, Conquest, and to some extent MTO) are definitely tainted in ways that they aren’t in Franchise, RTTS (hopefully still) and Leagues. What is referred to as sliders around here (the variables that influence event probabilities in the game) would most definitely be different for each game mode (eg in MTO chance of injury is set to 0). In this Moment for example, CPU baserunning aggressiveness would probably be changed from the usual 50% to like 5% 😉

What I believe happens with pci and other hitting types is there are folders that contain results. There is a perfect perfect folder and in it there are 27 entries for lineouts, 27 for flyouts, 27 for groundouts, 27 for basehit, 27 for gappers, 27 for homers, etc.

This allows SDS to adjust hitting percentages based on eliminating or adding results to the folder.

For example, if they made a mistake and deleted all the good results from the high center of pci folder and only had lineouts in the folder no matter what you did, if you hit the ball high center of the pci it would be a lineout.

So what you are doing is locating the pci so the game can then look up the result from the folder and generate the outcome.

This is why you can do the exact same thing with the pci placement on a pitch (go to practice to test this) and get vastly different results.

You, whether you're being facetious or not (hope you're another that sees through the charade), are kinda correct. It's coded outcomes. Perhaps 27 to the 9th power as you indicate. Someone actually posted code "supposedly" from this game a couple years back.

It was impressive. But the conditions (pitcher rating/batter rating/situation/etc.) were predicated with player record. In other words weight (I can't tell you how much) is surely placed on the player's record. How much, again, I couldn't tell you from the code but it was definitely part of the equation. Which it really shouldn't be. But, that's what keeps anyone from being too good or too bad.

I'll find that little snippet of code and post it. Let it breathe a little. Let you all decide whether it's legit or not.

Whenever I start a game I can tell if my opponent is good or not in the first inning. I don’t know how you actually believe what you are implying.

If the guy I’m playing doesn’t swing at junk and puts a well timed swing on pitches in the zone with decent pci placement I know I’m in for a battle. Same with pitching some morons throw two off speed pitches in the dirt followed by an up and in sinker. There are other guys that know how to change speeds within the strike zone and use the angles of the pitch to create deception.

To say there is no skill involved in the game is idiotic.

Look Wolfgang..you don't know anything about an opponent being bad or good in the first inning. All you know is what the AI animation is showing you. The code can take every pitch and change it's trajectory in an impossible fashion so the very best player out here is just swinging at air. By the same token any chump can square up on balls out of the zone if the AI decides to animate it so.

So, you really don't know. But, keep telling yourself that. Also, when that "terrible" player gets one pitch late in the game the AI actually lets them see correctly and they plant it into the cheap seats for the winning run in a 1-0 game...tell yourself you just got beat by an amateur that really sucked. Don't forget.

My last couple BR runs I have hit above nine wins and am sitting at 11-0 now waiting for the new player tomorrow. How can you explain being able to accomplish that if the game is rigged. I haven’t spent a dollar on the game....why would they let me win all the time?

BR is right there with moments as the biggest trainwreck no-skill waste-of-time in this game. I haven't played it since 2018 because of it's complete slot-machine outcome. Rest assured...you can drop 9 in a row just as easy..and not understand how that's possible after you won 9 straight.

I'm not at all questioning your ability. You may have superior skills. You may have a top-secret approach to this game no one before you has ever even thought of. You may have intuition and pitch-recognition that is unworldly. And, if it were real life and you were competing against real-life physics, outcomes, and such you might accomplish great things and be famous.

But, in the 'ol MLB the Ho-Ho world none of that stuff really matters.

Moments have been like that sjnce the beginning.i cared at first, but since it doesnt affect what you have to do i stopped paying any mind several months in.
As for pitchers batting in moments- they just copy/paste the game code into moments rather than programming it separately.which probably saved them months of work not to mention the inevitable bugs with parts of the game working differently from each other.

You are the hero the forum needs. I don’t have the time or energy to deal with the fanboys or trolls like you do. Keep up the good work. Maybe if we call SDS out on it enough they will let the game play how it’s supposed to be played. Or at least make a true competitive mode where only input matters. You want to play causal and have the all the ridiculous RNG...go for it...knock yourself out. But I’d rather lose by 15 to a man who lives in his moms basement, plays 24 hours a day, and has mastered the perfect perfects than to ever lose to the gimmicky “ball over the shoulder” error by a diamond fielder followed by the poor timing and poor pci placement walk off pump. I have no problem admitting defeat when someone is better than me. I just want the game to feel rewarding and for the outcomes to make sense. It would be an incredible game if they took the script off and that’s why it’s so frustrating.

Also, just for the heck of it, start recording your games. Play them back and watch the inconsistency. You'll see fast balls that you know are heading out of the zone just put on the brakes and stop. Balls that come right at you as fastballs and then take a physics defying left turn and end up a foot out of the zone. It's so much easier to analyze and see the animation blatantly controlling the game outcomes to the point it just cheats.

See, when you record the game...as opposed to just doing an in-game playback you get to see all of the elements that lead up to whatever outcome the game is scripted to present.

I've got so many video clips that would just send many customers running the other way or, at least, giving up any thought of getting better in a game that doesn't reward practice. It's a constantly shifting landscape with the goal-post bouncing around until it lands in the spot that favors the player the AI has decided will win that particular game.

But, again, it's the best option available so if you want to play console baseball you just have to suffer through.

No one can deny the animation and video isn't top-shelf. Just not realistic most of the time. Guess you can't have the best of both worlds.

I enjoy elements of this game. But I also have a hatred to my very marrow about any suggestion outcomes are based on skill. The same hatred and disgust when I see the AI squandering hours of my time queuing up the same 'ol intelligence-insulting animation.

If I want to watch a baseball game I'll turn on mlb.tv.

Sometimes, with this game, the code finds just the right rhythm and make you feel like you, the user, are actually dictating outcomes. Those are the "moments" that keep me coming back and humming Kumbaya.

Oh yeah, if he heads back to 3B he's always going to beat the throw. GUARANTEED..watch yourselves..When you are in this situation that guy on 3B will score regardless of what pitcher is on the mound and how great your skills be. Why, because it's a software glitch. AI has decided the runner will score and will throw in whatever animation is required to make it happen. Perhaps a fly ball, bunt, whatever..but this is a bug.

Doesn't mean you'll win or lose...just means the game is pretty poor at creating realistic animation. And quite predictable.
