I did one very small bit of research on roster updates. This I found relative to SD baseball players. The company resides in SD so, I suppose, it's there privilege to skew numbers however. Play favorites if they want.
But they have, supposedly, millions of customers that ain't Padre fans. Why would they intentionally (perhaps not, but it appears a pattern) neglect to be neutral in the constructs of player ratings. A heavy favoritism on their hometown players it appears...small sample set though.
Manny Machado an 87 Diamond, which if you base it solely on 2020 (which most experts say was a pretty fluky statistical year) probably deserves the 87. He hit .304 with 16 HR's. Pretty impressive for sure. The year before, though, he batted .256. This year he's batting .239 with 6 HR. Yet in the last roster update the dude took nary a hit. Still an 87 with no reduction of anything.
Let's compare that to Kris Bryant. A pretty stellar career. He tanked last year as did a majority of players (hence, why the experts claimed ya really shouldn't put a lot of weight on 2020). He came in this season as an 82 which, imo, was a little low for a guy just a couple seasons removed from league MVP. A guy that is 29 in the prime of his career in a FA year. But, I don't have a huge problem with that.
This is what I have a problem with. On May 28th with Machado not taking any sort of hit on his very shaky start..Bryant, who the Experts are saying is top 5 right now in MVP consideration. A guy that is destroying ML pitchers and having, at this point, better numbers than at this point in his MVP season. On May 28th Bryant not only didn't get a major point boost..he got -3 in vision and -4 in power right. Did get a +11 in Con L. I don't understand why he would get any minuses. Where does that logic come in?
The biggest point is...where are the minuses for Manny Machado?
Let's look at how very generous they were to Tatis. The last update he gets more boosts...BY FAR..than any other Diamond. Tatis is a great player..no doubt. But he was on the DL for 10 days during this update cycle.
Yu Darvish gets updated. Why? He's definitely not doing any better right now than he did last year statistically. In fact he had a lower ERA with a better k/9 and much better BB/9 and K/BB last year than this. Yet he gets bumped. Why? Does the team he plays for have something to do with it?
I dunno, but anyone out here that is watching these SD players get the favoritism and their home-town boyz get passed over should complain.
It's one thing to not always hit the highs with the code in the game. But there really is no excuse to play favorites with roster updates. In fact, it really sucks.
The most fun part of this game was the beginning. When I was playing with a combination of bronze, silver, and gold. No diamonds. This put me in Conquest games that I had to struggle with a little to win.
More importantly it put me in RS games where my lineup and my opponent's were completely different. We weren't both sitting there with the latest-greatest 99 pitcher and the rest of our lineups a near duplicate. It was fun to win/lose with different players than your opponent.
If you've played this game a couple months your stacked with the best diamonds and so is everyone else you'll play.
As much as FIFA and Madden put emphasis on loot-box rewards at least I rarely had the same lineups as my opponent. This was even at year's end after 6 months of playing.
I'm not necessarily complaining, but it sure would be cool if DD backed off a little bit on all this instant and easy gratification from promotions. I just pulled a diamond Corey Seager and it was like..yawn. That should never be. At least not in the first third of baseball season.
Prediction..if SD signs Bryant in Free Agency..he walks in as an 88 next year. By June he'll be a 90.
Will the new version correct the arbitrary game play issues in DD? Just random outcomes that "seem" to not fit controller input with any consistency?
I hope so, that would make the online play so much fun!
They were not ready. Plain and simple. Networking 101....speculate max expected traffic on your servers and double your capacity to handle it. Someone (the team) failed in one of those 2 areas.
Ok..this is a rebuttal to the topic "UNPOPULAR OPINION IT SEEMS". The thread someone started patting SDS on the back for this terrific game outside of the VERY SMALL issue that the servers make the completion (or beginning) of any game a crapshoot.
I'm guessing here, but I'm pretty sure the majority of ppl that buy this game do it for the online experience. Diamond Dynasty in particular. Right now DD is a terrible experience. All the lipstick and mascara you want to paint on does not hide the unfinished core of the game as it stands right now.
It's just not ready for online primetime. Once they actually DO get it half-way stable..and it will likely never be perfect (but we can live with that) why don't we return to the conversation about how great the game is this year. Because right now it's a mess.
I just can't believe someone started that thread and several others chimed in about how great it is. It's either SDS employees trying to shine a happy light or folks that have a really low set of standards. No offense.
About 1 RS game out of 5 the animation really appears to be accurately tracking controller input. Then it's a lot of fun.
What I really hate about this game..about 4 games out of 5 there is no semblance of consistency with controller input. When the game has concluded who is going to win..typically before it starts..it will just create this stream of animation that plays out however the code has decided it needs to depict an "exciting" game of baseball.
Countless times I won't even move my controller and the PCI jumps all over the place. At least half the time (I could chart it but that would be too much trouble) the PCI doesn't come close to matching where I know I moved my controller. The reason...because the code is controlling the outcome..not the controller/player.
When the code decides to hamstring either me or my opponent you see the most bizarre animation to support the "excitement". Guys over-running base like they never-ever do. Always getting tagged out trying to return.
Many little "tricks" the designers, I suppose, slip in believing we the player won't see it for the BS it is. The worst is the late inning neutralizing of anything that resembles solid contact on the ball.
You'll be playing for 8 innings and everything feels fairly normal (meaning what you would expect for the most part from how you swung)...suddenly when it's time for the code to change the game you might go 3 innings where the animation falls off a cliff. Everything you were previously squaring up on becomes cans-of-corn, infield flies, just that silly audio they inject to make-believe you rolled-over a ball or whatever the intent is.
I've been saving a lot of this video. I've got at least 20 different variations of this type of activity that is telling..very telling. Problem is, you post a link to any sort of "glitch" video and it's a potential trip to band-land. The gatekeepers love to build up the nonsense competition that doesn't exist in this game, but HATE to see anyone point out it's many-many flaws that so obviously underscore the fact there is no competition in this game. It's always player-vs-AI..regardless of the mode you happen to be playing in. Sad..sad.

I have no problem admitting defeat when someone is better than me. I just want the game to feel rewarding and for the outcomes to make sense. It would be an incredible game if they took the script off and that’s why it’s so frustrating.

Also, just for the heck of it, start recording your games. Play them back and watch the inconsistency. You'll see fast balls that you know are heading out of the zone just put on the brakes and stop. Balls that come right at you as fastballs and then take a physics defying left turn and end up a foot out of the zone. It's so much easier to analyze and see the animation blatantly controlling the game outcomes to the point it just cheats.
See, when you record the game...as opposed to just doing an in-game playback you get to see all of the elements that lead up to whatever outcome the game is scripted to present.
I've got so many video clips that would just send many customers running the other way or, at least, giving up any thought of getting better in a game that doesn't reward practice. It's a constantly shifting landscape with the goal-post bouncing around until it lands in the spot that favors the player the AI has decided will win that particular game.
But, again, it's the best option available so if you want to play console baseball you just have to suffer through.
No one can deny the animation and video isn't top-shelf. Just not realistic most of the time. Guess you can't have the best of both worlds.
Took a bus trip up to Wrigley a few years ago. Was a Cubs/Sox game. I'll never forget leaving the game driving by one particular parking lot and seeing a couple guys beating the [censored] out of each other. One wearing a Cubs jersey and the other Sox. Pretty intense rivalry up North. In the lower part of the state it's Cubs/Cards.
I also don't understand why KyleJaro88 hates Baez so much. He probably wouldn't hear so much about him if most of it weren't true. Just accept the fact MLB is going to do their best to market unique plays. El Mago seems to be involved in a whole lot of them. So be prepared to hear about them.

Lighten up on the OP already. No matter what the guys says, and most rings true, you all start jumping on him. I've seen these same things in the poly groups on Facebook. Start paying attention and you see a pattern that these same profiles are all linked to one person.
That's worse than Laureano using droids. It's one person trying to get an advantage using the mob effect. Pretty funny actually. Do whatever you want, but it's fun to watch.

This guy Lucas is for sure a moderator. He's got several profiles. Trust me on this, I've dealt with him as well.
Lost what my friend? I'm just getting started. Every successful crusade starts with one upset person with connections, some bit of savvy, a legitimate gripe and, most of all, a whole lot of determination. I'm not talking about posting angry stuff out here. I've already got the reaction I expected, and filed it away.
I'm done with that part. Good day.
In light of the fact EA sports has been sued countless times. And settled out of court more times than we'll ever know for deceptive and fraudulent practices. I have no idea about SDS or Sony, but odds are there is some litigation involved there as well.
But for transparency purposes and to protect themselves, somewhat, from legal hassles wouldn't it be more ethical for them just to blast a big label out similar to "This game is for fun, it is not a true sports simulation so results and outcomes will be randomized". I mean, they have the disclaimer about not playing too long because of headaches and all. They warn us about the gore and blood. Labels everywhere.
Basically there are disclaimers all over the gaming world. The most prominent cases you'll hear about in the EA world is about the "loot boxes" and all the class actions suits brought against them for promoting, basically, online gambling for little kids. Some countries won't even allow EA games to be sold because of it. It's why they have odds on the packs indicating your chances of pulling those coveted cards. They had to be sued in order to inject some ethics and transparency.
That, though, is tame to compared to all the class actions suits filed against them for liability regarding player depression and psychological side-effects (some pretty serious) resulting from deceptive marketing. Emotional distress through civil lawsuits.
People do get pretty "involved" (for a better word) in these games and are driven by the human competition they trust is the foundation of the game. Especially some of the younger customers and more impressionable don't understand these games are all for fun with not a lot of emphasis on skill.
I know back in college I took a corporate ethics course. To protect themselves (and possibly because they were ran by fundamentally good people) most of the Fortune 500 had whole legal teams that did nothing but investigate and guarantee transparency in marketing. In the long run the money spent saved millions/billions in liability suits.
Just food for thought. I do love the game, but I understand what it is. Little Junior out there with some deep-seated issues anyway, might not have as healthy of an understanding. It would be a shame (unethical) to continually fuel the manipulation through posts suggesting they need to "get gud" and practice a lot. Just be up front.
Drop the "tin-foil" replies to people that have serious concerns about WHY things happen the way they do in the game. This only reinforces a lack of ethics. I mean if a federal team of investigators did some serious snooping do you think they would determine that all suggestions about AI manipulation is unfounded?
It's fine to talk up all the great missions, cards, etc. They are a fun element in the game. But don't tell people you don't know (so don't understand their level of mental maturity or stability) how to become accomplished at a game that isn't about skill.
Not trying to be crabby, just trying to help.

Yeah, that's it.
Is there a metric in the game that notes percentage of time a pitcher throws his individual pitches? I would try to follow that pattern if it was available.

People paying for this game, finally getting to the point where they can collect their very favorite players..then, for whatever trickery the AI spells, said player can't hit. I'm going out on a limb and say the problem has nothing to do with the player's swing, or any of that happy HS. It's random chance with disregard to player card ratings and your favorite players happens to be on the low end of the code happenstance. And, one more legitimate gripe for those folks that pay a lot of money and invest a lot of time to get these diamonds they covet so. Only to get the AI "chef's surprise". Few years ago I used 2 vacation days of work to get 99 Billy Wagner as my closer. Man was I stoked when that time investment paid off and I got him. Billy "the kid" came from a very poor family in the mountain country of Virginia. He busted his [censored] to climb out of that poverty and make it. Always liked his story. My very first utilization of him was in a 4-1 game in the 9th. The team I was playing that got a single home-run (their only hit through 8 innings) came to life and feasted on 'ol Billy. By the time the smoke cleared they were ahead 5-4. Everything I put on a corner, high-fast, etc. was hit hard. That was the last game of The Show I played that season. Also, got banned for sharing my unbridled irritation for this whole series of events. Made a vow to myself to never play this freak-fest ever again. But, just couldn't stay away from this figurative crack-pipe. Every year we're promised that AI manipulation will be much less a factor. Every year...well, you know what I'm talking about. Good god man...
