Just finished a game where I win 4-1. So, this ain't a big rant on how much the game cheats ME personally. Although it does quite often as it does everyone else out here.
My opponent, I dunno how much sleep he gets but can't be much because his lineup is a composite of all the very best players at each position. Of course Trout, Ortiz, even 99 Jones. Had Kluber pitching.
I know he had to have had the 'ol RS invisible mask of resistance going against him. He swung at mostly pitches at strikes. Very few bad swings. So I can't say he was a bad or good player. Just whatever sort of opponent the AI decides to hamstring. AI handicapping is an equal opportunity theme.
He had to be pretty upset with that dynamo lineup getting shut down by a much weaker team. Although Lester, I guess, isn't a chump.
The piece de resistance was when Lester gets a homerun. I swear to God I bumped a contact swing high right with 2 strikes on Lester, and Diamond Kluber's bad-a$$ sinker was pulled into the Right Field stands. Jon Lester and his 3 career home runs.
So, it was like in this particular game the AI didn't even try to play from the card ratings. Which, isn't surprising, but sad..very sad. A testament on the state of this game at times.
-
Jon Lester gets a homerun off of Kluber? Wow. I'm assuming Kluber's confidence must have been low, huh?

Confidence? What is it with folks spouting on about confidence like it's a factor. Well, anymore of a factor than all the other RNG. As I always say it doesn't matter, until it's supposed to support an outcome.
But, to be cordial I believe it was 4th inning maybe and I sorta recall the blue line being well over 1/2 full. TBH, I really-really don't pay attention to energy, confidence, speed/lead for stealing, etc. It just really doesn't matter..unless it's supposed to.

Why wouldn’t that stuff matter? So you’re telling me you’ll be able to steal as many bases with Jorge Posada as you would with Billy Hamilton?

Don't give this guy the time of day. He has more conspiracy theories about this game than people have about JFK, 9/11, and Covid combined

I don’t, I’m just genuinely curious where he gets this from and if he can even explain why that would be

No, absolutely not. Posada will not steal as many bases as Hamilton. But, Hamilton will always be thrown out when the "script" (not my term but it fits) decides to ignore all factors in order to justify an outcome.
In other words, I've seen this many-many times, If Hamilton (I'm typically using Lofton but same difference) has a 12 foot lead off of 1B and change-up is thrown he will get thrown out IF that supports the outcome. Typically anytime in the first inning if the AI has decided the RS game will be a "tight one" there will be no runs allowed to score.
Doesn't matter if your opponent has no concept that keeping one of the best base-stealers in the history of baseball close is prob a good idea. I've actually gotten 3 bumps with Lofton (I'm assuming that to be even more than 12 feet) in these situations..broke just as soon as the windup starts..and been thrown-out as much as I've been successful in the first inning. And this isn't always Pudge or Bench in their prime. Sometimes just half-a$$ed catchers.
This is one of those no-brainer situations where it should be coded that if any of the top 10 base stealers in the history of the game get that sort of advantage on a disengaged opponent..they should swipe that bag.
I mean if the AI really wants to enforce that "Riveting" 1-0 outcome of the game..queue up the animation that has Lofton pulling a hamstring running to third or something.
At least TRY to keep it real. It's freakin' disgusting and like a kick to the jewels for any baseball purist. I'll take that back, an insult to anyone that has some awareness and loyalty to the realism of the game.
Don't just let some random pitcher (Lester used to hold the record for most AB's without ever getting a hit) hit a homerun off an extremely gifted pitcher off of a pitch above his head on a contact swing. ARE THINGS LIKE THIS SO FREAKIN' HARD TO DESIGN INTO A GAME? It's certainly frustrating, and I won this game!

I feel your pain. You are correct these incidents shouldn't find their way into this game.
I'm as big a baseball fan as anyone. Attended games in every stadium in the country. Participate in and am commissioner for multiple fantasy baseball leagues. I know the game and history pretty well, and what you just mentioned is a black-eye to this game. Blatant impossible animation. I get it.

Dude, I don't know you. You don't know me. The stuff coming out of your pie-hole through your fingers about conspiracy regarding a fake sports software game is very strange though.
Sort of makes me wonder if you have some sort of agenda to argue with anyone that points out big-time shortcomings and pure fakery in the game. Is this Ramone again? Ramone, buddy, c'mon get off my back for a bit please. I understand your motivation, but let me breathe here.

I think you are misreading the situation here. I am talking about the OP, who goes on a daily rant on here about how the outcome of every at-bat and every game is predetermined to the point where you don't even have to play the game because the AI already decided the outcome. Is there RNG? sure there is, but 95% of the posts the OP makes are ridiculous conspiracy theories. Unless you are the OP's burner account, which is even more sad

This guy has a tendency to rage, ain't no doubt. But in some of these posts he seems to have a point. I've noticed the same thing about base stealing. Your higher rated guys have a much better chance at swiping bags than the others, but they do get thrown out in situations they shouldn't. I've also been gotten big jumps on opponents not paying attention...and been thrown out. I don't see that in real-life. Well, in MLB the Real Show pitchers don't let base-runners get those sort of jumps.
Sorry about the backlash..thought you were dissing me.

Don't really need the support but its good to see other people mention some of these bugs. I guess they're bugs, man I really don't know anymore what this game is all about. Seems like every day I see something new that just makes me chuckle and shake my head.
Never thought i would get to the point of distress when I win a game, but witness ridiculous animation. Just reinforces the point that next game..it will likely be me getting the "chef's surprise".
I'm going to do my best to just play on and not share my "conspiracy theories" with you all anymore. But, I can't promise.

This may sound crazy, but I think the reason this guy posts everyday is because it's actually the developers doing a reverse flag operation, trying to make it look like people who have issues with the game just spout conspiracy level stuff, which discredits actual legitimate complaints. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can usually spot shady manipulation when I see it.

I the world of MLB the Show nothing is out of the realm of possibility. I'm really not about getting lovers of the game upset.
I'm about trying to get the word out to those that are feeling bad about there selves because they can't be successful at this game and think it's something they are doing wrong (or not right). It's really not fair for them to believe this game rewards great skill sets, and playing/practicing more will make them better.
There is a point of diminishing return as far as "practice" goes. You hit about 10-15 hours of gametime and you should have the reflexes and nuances as in tune as they are ever gonna be. After that, you're at the mercy of the AI and it's manipulation.
So, I'm just trying to point out the travesties and lengths I've seen the AI go to to ensure a preordained result. Let those feeling bad about their game, maybe, pick up on it and understand what DD is about.
For sure you can have fun..it's a great game. But keep perspective the AI is surely about creating parity and making sure players stay engaged. Typically, that means games have to be close..and sometimes the "excitement" factor added in by the AI loses it's appeal after you've seen the same 'ol here-we-go-again too many times.
That's all. Sorry to take up your time.
