Does anyone else feel like you should be waaaay better than you are? I’ve put in thousands of hours and for whatever reason, I’m just not that good.

I haven't been on here in a while but I've been paying attention from a distance to new drops and I gotta say, SDS gets a double A PLUS on content this year. Hope it stays that way!!!
After seeing his throw from the right field corner to 3rd, it’s obvious his 75 arm is an absolute crime. That’s a 99 arm all day long.

Opponent quits while losing.
Remaining player given option to take the win immediately or continue playing, with a note that they will not be hit with a loss no matter what.
If play continues, the CPU takes over for the pouter - all stats will count.
The CPU will pitch fastballs in the strike zone for the remainder of the game.
The CPU will not swing under any circumstances.
The pouting player will be hit with a Loss and a Quit. For example, a record of 25 wins, 20 losses will show as 25-20(18) if said player threw 18 tantrums.
This might be one of the most thoughtless posts of the year!
This has always intrigued me. I can play a 9 inning cpu game on legend and win let’s say 10-3. But then play conquest on veteran and here I am in the 6th inning tied at zero. Veteran I say smh.

One Press for R2 per at bat.
Simple end of discussion.
No. You will not quick pitch me. I’m holding it down every pitch.
Bring balks back please! That will put an end to all of this! Lol

my god you guys are a broken [censored] record.
I realize it is a pain to see if you are not a fan of the Cardinals and it's cool to insult Cardinal fans but let's be honest, if Goldy played for any other team, then that teams fans would be complaining just as much. Nobody likes to see worthy players on their favorite team snubbed.
It will pass once it has been vented.
Kind of like Pujols, notice in his final year he is not getting NEAR the amount of red carpets in away games that Jeter or Ortiz got their final years, and he is a superior hitter to both, with far superior numbers.
Reason: Market
I didn't even think about this until an analyst brought it up on MLB Net, they would have buildings and statues if Pujols played in NY his career
In what world does Pujols have "far superior" numbers to Jeter?
Power numbers, sure. But to say he's "far superior" to Jeter is a ludicrous statement.
You can’t be serious dude??
I will never have what it takes to be an elite player! I’m simply not patient enough and for whatever reason I can’t square up the ball. I’ve put in thousands of hours at this game. What an embarrassment!!

I'd like to know their thought process for a lot of these programs...but i am kinda looking forward to finishing this. I usually smash everything with Belts gold cards and i did hit 3 homeruns with this card in the showdown.
Nice, I’m gonna definitely give him a shot and certainly am not a huge fan of Boggs’ swing. But Boggs is certainly the greater legend/player
I hate Wade Boggs (yes even though he was a Yankee*) but i can't even lie....his card is kind of a beast for me.
I was watching a game the other night that featured Wade Boggs (might’ve been ‘86 ws game 6 but not certain) and I’m 100% positive I heard the announcer say that he had only 3 pop outs for the entire previous season! Impressive.
Oh he was great for sure. I'd never deny that. When i was a kid, my father and my grandfather were Red Sox fans and i was at Fenway a ton more than i was at Yankee Stadium. Im old enough to have seen guys like Fred Lynn, Carl Yazstremski, Dewey Evans and Jim Rice play in person. My "dislike" for Boggs is more a team loyalty thing really and nothing personal. I'll absolutely use his cards in the game.
I know what you mean. I’m a Cards fan myself. Times weren’t so good here in the late 80’s early 90’s. So I started rooting for the Red Sox. Later in the 90’s when Boggs jumped ship I was like…..man how could you do that? But now that I’m older and understand that time is limited, I get it.

To each their own and all, but I don't get how so many people play on rookie so much to just mindlessly pad stats. It sounds so boring. I'm not that great or anything, but I always play the CPU on All-Star and am still having fun playing. Based on the forum, it seems like most people that play this game complain about how much they hate grinding. Maybe try just actually playing on a legit difficulty level and having fun rather then playing on rookie in a fake stadium with 200 foot walls and expecting every hit to be a homer.
I don’t think it’s about “padding stats” bro. I think the majority of people have no problem with RS being hard. But what people don’t want (in my opinion), is for “the grinding” to be so difficult that it takes as long as it has been.
For example, the grind for Topps Now and POTM, that’s perfect. Not too hard, takes a few hours and it’s done. The TA grind is just too long. I did season 1. I gave up on season 2.
Indeed!!! He was perhaps the most talented player of all time?! Injuries are a beeeeotch!!!
It’s a good game! I love all the improvements. I find my games are more enjoyable when I use cards I enjoy using regardless of the rating. I can’t do the grind for set 2. Just can’t do it. I burned out on set 1. Don’t even care what the collection rewards are. Doesn’t mean I’ll quit playing, but that grind is ultra brutal.
@SuntLacrimae50_MLBTS said in Major Misses by SDS in 23: A Show Lover's Take:
I list these complaints simply to get them off my chest. I think other single-player DD grinders probably agree with most of it. I've defended SDS in many threads for making so much content free to NMS players, but this year's game's design decisions have made grinding an unpleasant chore. I'm close to calling it quits.
CPU pitchers on rookie this year throw far fewer middle-middle pitches than in past years. It's not even close. This makes grinding much more frustrating. In MS and Conquest, many players play on rookie and have other things on in the background. We don't want to "focus" and "work counts." There's a psychology behind this, and SDS has ignored that. So many at-bats on rookie have 70-rated pitchers throwing balls feet off the plate followed by painting the black. They jam you inside then spam sliders. It's not hard; it's just not fun. This is made worse by #2 and #3...
Perfect-perfect nukes with power hitters routinely fail to go out. Routinely. This is a baffling design decision that makes "grind 99" even more frustrating. Add to that...
The game is often a line-out simulator. Far too often the ball beams straight to a fielder who barely has to move. Several streamers have observed this.
TA2 is absurd. The grind is ridiculous. The number of raw hours you have to put in to complete it means it's meant to dominate your time with the game, especially now that the clock is running on those cards due to seasons.
Kaiju and other programs are pure filler. Why do we care about 90 OVR cards when our teams are stacked with 99's already? Answer: because the game is now all about preparing for some collection down the line. BUT we're forced to use the cards to complete the programs. Ugh.
Ultimately, my displeasure comes down to single-player grinding on rookie. I've played hundreds of games this year and lost maybe 3. There have been games where I've put up 30, but many more where I've hit well but won 3-0 because of #2 and #3.
Rookie grind is meant to be candy. Pure fun. Domination.
Mindless.
It's not now, and it's not fun.
Just sharing my thoughts on a message board, hoping that SDS sees it perhaps. There have to be thousands of grinders out there who are feel similarly.
Off to play Fallout...peace.
I agree 100% bro!!!!
@BodamEscapePlan said in Okay SDS, can we dial back the goofiness?:
I've been a DD player since the beginning, meaning I was there for the two most cringiest things SDS decided to put in the game:
Pepe Alazar and basically, the entirety of The Show 18.
Prior to release of '23, I was bummed to see the card designs were taking another step back with the Charisma series but I could live with those, I guess -- these "Incognito series cards are just downright stupid, in my opinion, and I fear this series that I love is headed in the wrong direction if the Charisma, Kaiju, and Incognito series are any indication of where they're going to take things.
I was totally fine when the card's nickname didn't replace the actual player's name in-game and in the menu but now that they've changed it... It's just so lame. I understand that it might be fun for casual baseball fans but I hope we don't get anything like this ever again.
If they wanted to do something like this, they should've waited for the "Player's Weekend" (I think that's what it's called) and release cards of the players with the nicknames that the players themselves chose and not these out of nowhere corny stuff that someone at SDS came up with.
I'm hoping I'm not in the minority here...
I’m with you 100% bro. I’ve been a player since ‘15. These new cards are silly! They could knock it out of the park every year, and yet they fail nearly every year. I was super excited at the drop, only to see this nonsense!
There is no competitor bro. Until there is, I wouldn’t expect anything different.
I hit pretty good left V right. I hit pretty good left V left. But right V right……I really struggle. Anyone got any tips that could beside git gud??
