Would you pay $200

Would you pay $200 for a a version of MLB the Show (or another company) that has the great animation, online play, and MLB licensing's but also plays like a true simulation as opposed to AI controlled outcomes?

I would in a heart beat. Whether it happens to be SDS or STD. I don't care, but if I could play a game that looked like The Show, but satisfied the truly competitive and discriminating without all the nonsense...I would ante up.

SDS

Nah I prefer my input accounting for 10% of what happens for sure.

SDS

I'd pay $1000 for a PS VR baseball sim version just to let it show me how out of shape I am.

P.s. it's not a true sim unless I can make the umpires check the opponent pitcher's glove.

SDS

Nah, I prefer attributes to have some bearing on outcomes.

SDS

By true sim I mean one where all statistical factors are taken into consideration. Ala OOTP a pretty solid text-based sim. Or perhaps even deeper like Strat-o-matic (that game nailed it as far as accuracy of results). All these numbers would weigh very heavily in outcomes. Weather conditions, day/night games, ball-park-factors, etc.

But also really account for player strategies. If I have a 12 foot lead off of first with Kenny Lofton (because my opponent just isn't paying attention) he jumps as soon as the wind-up starts..he pretty much always swipes second. If a pitcher is truly gassed, in the red or zeroed out, always bring that in as a huge factor in the outcome. Not just whenever the AI deems it should come into play.

All sorts of other strategic situations that, for the most part, The Show has accounted for..but like everything else they only manifest when the AI decides to offer the game to one opponent or the other. It shouldn't ever be that..there should be a consistency of weight on the strategies that we as player's focus on. An emphasis and consistency on rewarding in-game strategies.

And, obviously, get the PCI accurate enough that it tracks your swing/pitch consistently. No more code moving PCI where it wants to in order to support the predestined outcome of an AB. No more random "very late", "very early", etc rulings (with the accompanying sound effect) that don't coincide with what we know our swing should have generated. Especially no more moving a pitched ball perfectly placed, about ankle high, to the middle of the freaking strike zone so your opponent can be justified in his single home-run that wins the game.

Just create a game where you don't have over half the customers complaining about the complete lack of realism.

One where you might get your a$$ handed to you in a game, but not have any sort of gripe because it felt like the better team won. You never walk away feeling like you watched a baseball game as opposed to participating in one.

And this could be impossible and possibly why current online sports games like The Show and the EA products don't produce such a product. Could be just too many variables to create a realistic simulation. But, you can dream.

I would pay 200 for a ps5 update of MVP Baseball 2005, the best baseball game ever made. Like the other poster mentioned, it would be nice to control my own outcome without some cheap AI deciding games.
