It was what it is.
The real way to prepare for an RS game is get a bowl of popcorn, some twizzlers (I prefer legal edibles), some soda (I prefer Jack and diet) leave your controller behind..doesn't play much a part. Start your match and just watch the game unfold. You'll just witness the coolest (often unusual) but typically misfit and unpredictable animation play out you've ever witnessed.
Do that 10 times and you'll have a pretty good buzz and a 5-5 record.

I suppose DDA effects every online sports game to a certain degree. But too often, in RS, it's just blatantly obvious.
We understand the marketing desire to create parity in online matches. You can't let the less talented look terrible, or the more talented look great all the time. The game developers gotta put adjustments in place to keep parity. It's been going on in the EA games for years.
Every year in MUT the community flocks to Youtube to share "Secrets" on how to glitch/gimmick in order to spaz out the AI. How to motion, how to sub, where to shift and shade. Because of the inherent glitches that people just figure out in order to nerf their plays it's hard to tell what the AI DDA is doing and where the AI exploitation points are. The game has got so many moving pieces it's not always easy to tell.
Not so in The Show. There isn't a whole lot of moving pieces. You pitch, you swing. So when playing RS (all of DD for that matter) and it's time for HAL to implement some DDA to create parity..it's pretty hard to hide. Just gigantic departures from reality and spun animation that doesn't begin to fit controller input.
Undoubtedly it's much more difficult for the Developers of this game to manipulate outcomes. Just can't hide it. And that's too bad..for the developers and the customers that experience it all the time.
So I'm not saying The Show's DDA is any worse than EA products, it's just so much easier for FUT and MUT to obscure it. It's always going to be obvious (I suppose) in DD which makes it so much more frustrating.
Played an RS game last night that was just a microcosm of all that destroys the interest in playing online. A 10 inning snoozer that culminated in my opponent hitting a 2-run homer (after striking out 18 times and having 2 total hits) in the top of the 10th. Then the AI making it "exciting" by letting me get a run and then throwing in some blatantly dumb animation to shut me down.
I'm to the point I'm afraid to play RS. I got a decent record, I've played a lot of hours and believe I'm average to decent at the game.
But, the game doesn't reflect skill. It reflects whatever outcome the AI dictates. I think most of us have some pride in our records. That's where the frustration and anxiety comes in. I don't mind losing to my opponent..But I absolutely HATE losing to the AI and my opponent getting credit for it
I don't give a fruck about any of the surplus of 99 Diamond's that are just dished out like candy and have about the same significance as dirt. I care about a game that can, at least, aspire to be immersive. A game that doesn't make its customers more frustrated than appreciative.
This is the only game I have ever played that just, literally, drives me to fury at times.
But, again, when you played one like I did last night where it's 10 innings (probably 30+ minutes) just down the $hitter wrapped in a fiasco of not just irrelevant animation (doesn't match up with anything coming out of my controller) but ignorant animation that depicts nothing I've ever seen in an MLB game. And I've watched a whole lot of baseball in my life.
I got nothing else. But this meandering stream of consciousness felt good to share.
-
I'm not sure that's possible in a fit of rage unless you have a hammer in your hand. Which would be a lil freaky I must say.
I've thrown PS5 controller at the wall from across the room to kill a big spider I thought I saw crawling down. Realized it was just a shadow but there were edibles involved.
The point of the story is, however, it's not as easy as you think to just break the next-gen controllers.
And sub-point, this game ain't worth stubbing a toe for. Only the newbies would get so frustrated. Those that have played a couple weeks already realize the fakery frustration points are rampant and you just gotta chuckle and say softly "wtf, another manipulated outcome by HAL".

Just played a guy whose 8-24, I got 8 hits 0 runs off Degrom, and a perfect game through 8, and of course, after a hit batter (1-2 count) a couple bunts, a fake throw, another perfect bunt with infield in, he wins. What a cheesy trash game this is. Also 99 Walker and 99 Soriano are a combined 6 for 58, 0 home runs. Just trash.
And yet you'll play again.
He might.
But many of us do not. Everyone has a threshold where it's, like, this is the final waste of an hour of my time on a game I put my best in, that rewards me with randomly generated animation.
We all have our tipping point.

You'll be playing a Showdown or whatever, and you just forget what stuff your supposed to be working on to complete the match tasks? Just swinging at pitches and throwin' the ball around with no concept of how many tasks you knocked out and what's left.
Edibles, they make the game a different experience.

Been ranting for a week how bad online lag was. I literally couldn’t even react to a pitch. It was miserable. Frames would skip as the batter swung or the pitch came in. Well… turns out my TV was not on a game mode. Let that be a lesson to you kids. It’s night and day different now. Immediately went deep twice in the first inning turning that on.
Nice apology. One huge thing..TV mode doesn't account for most of the "mysteries" in this game. Lag doesn't either. Once in awhile it would be nice to get this post.
THE SHOW OWES THEIR CUSTOMERS AN APOLOGY - we've been negligent and somewhat deceitful with our product at times. Sometimes we don't know when to turn off the smoke and mirrors and manipulation. But, when we finally do..it will be the best most immersive game you've ever played.

I use him. 2-0 in RS. Pretty dominant.

I've noticed on higher difficulties the cpu will start pitching like online players. All the sudden pitchers are throwing high sinkers and a ton of back foot breaking balls. Its like they programed the cpu to replicate top online players, and embraced the cheese.
Also you forgot the biggest bullshitt about playing the cpu. When your pitcher is cruising and all the sudden the 8 hole hitter will lay off everything and take pitches right in the black that will be called balls, and then either get a 12 pitch walk or a single that will destroy your pitchers confidence.
The umpires calling pitches that don't even touch the zone strikes for the cpu, while you can have a pitch 95% in the zone, in the same quadrant called a ball.
You know when the computer batter suddenly starts fouling off everything..that they struck out on before..it's rally time!

It's bad. One of my guys walk, and I look up and have "SUCCESS". I have no clue what that task was. But I had success.

I don't really have anyone else I want right now, probably will platoon him and Jimmie behind the dish
Probably already been mentioned, but there is a reason Schwarber is now a bad defensive LeftFielder..because he was a much-much worse defensive catcher. When the Cubs drafted him it was only for his bat.
If his card ratings..which I haven't seen..indicate even bronze at defense..it's about 3 levels too high.
I believe he's played a whole 4 games at catcher in MLB in his career. And he looked terrible.
What is wrong with the people behind these decisions and cards? It's like they purposely try to make a mockery of the game.
-
You know what would happen if they gave everyone in the world a 10 karat diamond? Diamonds would lose all value on the open market. It's rarity and the effort/money required to get elusive stuff that makes them attractive. But, whatever.

Its kinda cool. If you bought this game last night you can literally field a team today that isnt out manned by any other team no matter how many stubs someone spent.
How is this that cool? Unless you're being sarcastic. That's exactly the problem.
Not sure how its a problem, it gives a lot of options for people. Plus people picking up the game late arent gonna be hardcore players. So at least they can field a team that looks good even if they get beat down with them.
So you think it's better that people that come into this game half way through the season should have the same opportunity to build a lineup in 2 days that most of us have been working nearly 4 months on?
Well that Recreational Youth Soccer mentality is perfectly fine for some. For the purists of the world..it really sucks. We want to have some edge for all the hours of grinding we put in all year.
But as I've said before, in this game card ratings hardly matter. It's just artwork and irrelevant numbers on a card. So, rock on. Whatevs.

Yeah... let's get it out of the way. I lost a game and I'm bitter
I struck the guy out 19 times.... He struck me out 7
I put the ball in play 20 times.. 7 of which had PCI of 14 or high and didn't get one of those to be a hit.
He put the ball in play a whopping 11 times TOTAL.... ONE PCI of a 14. Everything else was a 12 or lower.... Including the game winning HR.
Now this is All-Star Hell of course since the season reset. But Can someone please chime in here and tell me Git Gud or defend the game to the end of times. Because that was literally the most frustrating games I have ever played.
This game is and has been for years screwed up by connections. You can't take this game competitively. Just play with different cards and not care if you win or lose. That's what I do.
I want to but as a college player and coach it just frustrates me losing to morons that have no clue about ball. Stick skills definitely don’t matter. What matters is home, inside fastball and sinkers with outlier and lucky swings. You know you’re screwed when all your balls in play are outs and the other guy couldn’t hit their way out a wet paper bag and spam pitches that would get wrecked in the real…. Definitely not made for real baseball people. I sometimes laugh at it but I sometimes want to reach through the game and beat the dudes [censored] for knowing nothing about ball and being able to win
It's not your opponent's fault. They just want to win..same as you. No, the entire cause of the frustration is in the RNG/DDA code that allows these things to happen.
I never get mad at my opponent, I get mad at the developers. They are the responsible party.

Oh, not the get a high-speed monitor post again. Get over it, the biggest flaws in this game are not going to be helped by the fastest monitor or network. Those flaws can only be addressed by code changes.

I'll never understand what goes on in the mind of someone who plays a video game they hate, and their first thought is "Strangers on the Internet must know how much I hate this!" If it's that bad, just quit playing and move on with your life.
Or maybe, he’s expressing his distress on the forums so maybe SDS could see his post or if other people agree with him? Everyone wants a better product and having the mindset of “just stop playing lol” is pretty ignorant.
Ignorant is playing a game you think is "rubbish."
Ignorant is playing a game like The Show and believing it's anything but a Computer-controlled arcade game. It's someone trying to convince others that it's a true simulation and not a randomized AI animation generator.
The guy admitted he spent 3 months before he learned his lesson. Don't use the bullying-gaslighting unsavory marketing tactics to make him feel bad for complaining.

I've always approached this game as I would real baseball. Assuming the physics would be in line.
But, it seems way to often it just doesn't matter and that's when immersive goes away and gives way to frustration and jadedness.
Many instances of the disregard for normal real-life baseball physics. I'm just going to talk double play that seems to be the go-to for the AI to quickly manufacture a predetermined outcome.
In baseball the majority of double-plays are induced by ground ball pitchers that generally keep the ball low in the strike zone. Generally they throw sinkers and splitters that, due to the law of physics, will lead to low trajectories that lead to double-plays.
So, trying to use the physics of baseball as my guide I'll almost always leave the low balls alone when I have a runner on first with less than 2 outs. 90% of the time I will swing only at balls near the top of the strike zone. Doesn't matter. Those pitches I connect on, regardless of whether they are sinkers or curve balls, will be ground balls. Doesn't appear to be any consideration in the game's physics feedback in these situations.
Couldn't the developers just code in some heavily weighted algorithm that mostly prevents double plays when you make contact on a high pitch? If the AI really needs to produce an "out-outcome" for the batter just have that high pitch be animated as a pop-up, or line-drive and double the over aggressive runner off first.
I have no answers, but don't ignore physics to generate outcomes.
The more real-life physics are ignored in this game the cheaper the experience for the players that actually understand the physics of baseball.
The more strategies a knowledgeable player can attempt to utilize that reflect real-life physics that are actually reflected in the resulting animation..leads to a more immersive gaming experience.
Those that are ignored..just leads to frustration and "who gives a frick" approach to the game.
Casual players won't have a clue, and if that's primarily who the game is marketed for..so be it.
Go ahead and Insult the intelligence of the minority that do know the difference. Create crusaders against the oppressive and artificial environment this game often depicts. Crusaders that feel they have no recourse but to post in these here forums hoping that the next version may be a more immersive experience.
Ha, just bored today and belching some thoughts that, albeit are sincere, probably won't make the slightest bit of difference. Sometimes more fun writing about the game than playing it though.

Great thing about this game is you really never have to drop a dime to have as stellar roster as the next guy. Really don't have to be that skilled..just invest some time.
The not-great thing about this game is, because of that structure, anyone can have any card. Then, eventually, you have the same rosters of highest-rated cards perpetually playing each other in RS.
Don't know if there is a great middle ground. This is not a complaint, merely an observation.
Should I invest in Wander Franco? Think he goes diamond?
