I'm doing it no matter who it is. I'm an obsessive collector in this game.

I don't even care who it is. I just like having an excuse to collect stuff.
Most of my biggest weaknesses have nothing to do timing, so it would do me very little good to bother with a monitor. Even if it did help, playing on a smaller screen just isn't as much fun.
The content is designed so that even the worst players can field a pretty amazing team if they're willing to work at it, so I could care less about ever being "elite." In my experience the most negative and toxic people who post on here typically have way better records than me, so if playing on my TV means I'll never get good enough to be matched up with any of them then I'm totally content with continuing to suck.

If he wasn't banned then he probably would have been in the game years ago, and the field of dreams content would just inspire a bunch of "Waah another stupid shoeless joe card that won't even make my bench" posts. lol
So you are saying it would be another ty Cobb
Ty Cobb wanted to be in this year's game, but nobody could stand the son of a b when he was alive so we told him to stick it!
Someone on this board made a complaint post, got called out on inaccuracies and actually admitted that they were wrong? It's a Christmas miracle and it isn't even Christmas yet! Faith in humanity restored! lol
Wow, that's crazy. It's almost like the hardest difficulty level in the game is supposed to be hard.
I prefer the slow buildup. If I had things my way,, it wouldn't even be possible to get a non-live series diamond until at least a month into the game cycle.
I've seen quite a few posts lately from people who've hit 650k in the program. Pretty impressive for a game that's allegedly so unplayable that we all must demand compensation.
The community in 2021: "Stupid newbie casuals! Everything should be on hall of fame!"
Also the community in 2021: "Waah this rookie moment is too hard!"
I enjoy the grind of gradually building my team almost more than actually playing the game, so I'm probably in the minority but I actually wish the buildup to good cards was even slower than it is. In my perfect world, non-live series diamonds wouldn't be a thing until at least a month into the game cycle.

A lot of players on this list who would belong in the hall of very good, but not many of them are hall of famers in my opinion. Schilling, Ortiz and Wagner have my vote. That's it.
I was really gonna try to collect every card this year, but I've really started to get burned out so I decided to sell everything that wasn't locked in. After buying all the cards I needed to give myself what I think is the best possible lineup, I'm sitting on about 500k.
Yes! down with RNG! Make hitting more realistic! By the way, a quick Google search reveals that in 2021 Houston's lineup led all of baseball with a team batting average of 267. Surely no one in the community would complain if even the show's best players were only able to hit 270, right?
Be careful what you wish for.
I've played DD since 18 and this is the first year I've ever seriously tried to get them all, but as of now I'm still about 40 cards short and I'm burned out on the game so a mass sell off is coming this weekend. Maybe I'll have better luck next year.
Way to go!
This weekend I'm gonna do a massive sell off of everything I don't have locked in and build the best possible god squad I can come up with. Here's my current lineup:
C Jimmie Fox
1B Babe Ruth
2B Jackie Robinson
3B Chipper Jones
SS Honus Wagner
OF: Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, Willy Mays
Now here's every 99 hitter card in the game that I don't currently own: Francisco Lindor, Nolan Arenado, Stan Musial, Josh Donaldson, Johnny Bench, Cody Bellinger, Bryce Harper, Todd Helton, Larry Walker, Al Kaline, Ralph Kiner, Rickey Henderson, Eric Davis, Lou Gherig
Are any of those guys a noticeable upgrade over what I already have?
As long as we're including unrealistic options in the discussion, a pete rose or shoeless joe jackson card would be pretty awesome too.
I'm not stubborn or competitive enough to care about waiting out a freeze off. I may give it some time if I happen to be a win away from the next ranked tier, but otherwise I'd rather spend my limited gaming time actually playing the game. I'll typically just let the guy have his stupid win and move on with my life.
I eventually plan to buy them all, but Babe is the obvious choice. I need pitching more than I need hitting, but those attributes are just too good to pass up.
All of those collections can be finished by anyone who really wants to finish them. It will take longer to finish them now then it would have earlier in the year, but that's not the same thing as "literally not able to be finished." Learn some patience.
I keep telling myself that I'm gonna try to get every single card this year, but I'm seriously tempted to start selling off. I probably won't play for much longer so messing around with an overpriced god squad for a bit could be fun
