To Alex Rodriguez??? Another guy who can very easily be considered top 5 of all time? That's like trying to knock DJ because he shared the same infield with Cal Ripken. Still doesn't counter any of my pro-Jeter arguments.

Is Jeter the most overrated player of all time? I do not think so. Is he overrated yes I think so, Is he a HOF yes. In the since of the Media, Writers and playing for the Yankees yes he would be at the top of the list of overrated All Time.

Relax Karen. Just because he is grossly overrated that doesn't make him a bad player. No way should he be a first ballot hall of famer but in DD terms I could see him getting an 86 as his top card.
If someone who is 6th all time in hits, 11th in runs scored, a 5 time world series champion and the face of the greatest franchise in the history of sports for 20 years isn't a first ballot hall of famer.....I would love to hear what is in your eyes.

Yes. The worst defensive shortstop in MLB history will absolutely be a first ballot hall of famer…because he is absolutely overrated.
Still a great player. Still deserving of the hall. But still overrated quite a bit by many people, as we’ve seen in this thread.

If you wanna say his defense is overrated I can definitely get behind that but as an overall player? No. I don't think you can call anyone with a career .310 batting average overrated.
There's a lot of shortstops that had a career avg. of .300+ though. Nobody is saying he was not top 50, but definitely not top 5. His defense was average at best and wasn't a great hitter, just a good hitter. Nomar had better offensive numbers and was a lot better defensively, but nobody is saying he was great.
Amazing how you can confidently say the person with the 6th most hits of all time wasnt a "great" hitter. And lets forget about his ability to score runs and all of the extra base hits too. Not expecting much from a Sox fan though.
Also, Nomar had 7 productive seasons at the plate and eclipsed 200 hits ONCE in his career. He had some solid years but his numbers are far less impressive than people think.
He played 30% less in his career than Jeter.... so tough to compare stats like hits. Nomar was a better hitter than Jeter when he was healthy. There is no doubt about that. Bogaerts right now has more hits, HR, RBI than Trout has had in the last 3 years.... does that make Bogaerts better? No... because he's played in a lot more games through those 3 years. Compare Nomar and Jeter in B.A., war, obp. ...Nomar was better power and a avg.

I'm not watching any videos. I know all about how the defensive metrics are suspect, but numbers don't lie. The career hits, 200 hit seasons, 30+ double seasons, .310 career average, rings, postseason clutch....you're just trolling at this point if you are putting him outside the top 10.
Let me ask you a question, does this mean Ozzie Smith is overrated because he couldn't hit the ball out of the infield?
Well said and I 100% agree! Just because he doesn't hit 480 ft. hrs and do bat flips doesn't mean he's over rated. Also when it comes to intangibles (which no one talks about) he is king!

He might have still been first Ballot. 3000 hits basically guarantees first ballot if you didn't use steroids or gamble. He would be Paul Molitor without the rings more or less

If he played in Detroit he would have been dropped from the ballot and would have to wait for the veterans committee to fix the writers mistake. I think he compares very closely to Trammell.
