For the competition. My playing days are long over, but the need to compete never goes away. Also, my kids are older, and I don't drink, so it's my way to unwind after a day of work.
How does everybody feel about timing?! It's what the misinformed thought Directional was-- just swing away!
At least with Directional, you needed a plan: Hit it on the ground with Lofton, lock and load with the power guys, opposite field with Boggs.
It was situational baseball.
Now, a blind man can hit .399 if his buddy just yells, "Swing!" at the right time.
Who knew baseball was this easy!
My son just absolutely tattooed a pitch in H2H, perfect/perfect. Result? Foul ball. Kind of throws the notion of SQUARING a ball up PERFECTLY out the window. Line outs are fine. But foul?
Other hilarious/physics defying Show anomalies:
So don't put any stock in what the game tells you as far as timing. You know when you're early or late. And don't lose your shiz niz over perfect/perfect outs. Einstein's head would explode if he saw such shenanigans. At least yours don't go foul.
I have NEVER thrown the controller in anger, but I'm close. Guidry is just awful. Brutal control. It doesn't help that Don Sutton took a down and away slider and PULLED IT to left for a knock! Haha! This might be the worst Diamond Card I've ever used. Checking Guidry's career stats (though I remember him), he had a handful of good years.
For the Yankees, if you're going to give us a pretty good pitcher, hows about Dave Righetti? Or David Cone? David Wells?

The talent in the league today is unreal. Might be baseball blasphemy, but I wouldn't be shocked if babe Ruth was just a run of the mill DH in today's game. Athletes in every sport have gotten bigger, stronger, and faster since we started tracking these things. Why would mlb pitchers be any different? I know there were probably a few guys back them that could probably hit the low 90s, but call me crazy. I just don't think the average pitcher, Whitey Willabe McGroover, fresh off the farm was bringing a 97+ to the plate like the majority of pitchers are today. Ruth was the best of his time. He has left behind one of, if not the biggest, legacies in professional sports. That's his place. Can't compare players 100 years apart And yet we have stats that do just that.

Think of how sick Ruth, Cobb, and the early greats would have been if they knew about the benefits of good nutrition, weight training, had video access to every pitcher and all of their at bats, and didn't have to get jobs in the off season? Also, the health concerns of alcohol and tobacco use, and poor diet. Remember, weight training was taboo in all sports expect football until the late 80's. I think those guys would be just fine playing today.
So not booing black players is what you mean, right? Yes, we should all be very careful. We do live in a Cancel Culture society. Haven't we [censored]*d off Jackie Robinson enough? At this point, it's shameless posturing. Jackie was a great player, but "transcending the sport"? Robinson himself would be embarrassed by all of the attention. He just wanted to be a ballplayer, but the guilt ridden white folk had to make themselves feel better. So fast forward 50 years and his number gets retired across baseball. Don't kid yourself-- The Show is trying to prove how "woke" they are by riding Jackie's jock for about the 5th year in a row.
Not boo black players? They got a lot more than booed. But they got over it. We should too.
Cancellation from the boards in 5,4,3,2...
Collected all of my booty, put that sweet Chipper card at 3rd, added Fonzie and Finley to my bench, Hoffman to my bullpen, and finished Awards to get 99 Mo.
The bad news is now I have nothing to do. Hahaha! Good times...
Happy 4th, hustlers!

I realize some kids may visit these forums, but everyone was discouraging drug and alcohol abuse. The lack of empathy was what had me step in. Saying that someone is a failure or terrible person because of substance abuse makes it difficult for someone to seek help, which is why I included SAMHSA number. The thread is still open if you want to talk about Halladay and accomplishments as a player. Just keep it positive.

Agreed. Collin, I don't want your job. Haha
I just noticed a hilarious "uh oh" card moment.
Jimmy Rollins won the MVP in 2007 and thus his MVP card.
Scroll to page 2 in the marketplace for SS's and you find Jimmy Rollins Veteran Card, also for 2007!
Two cards, same year, and a huge difference in attributes.
Oh, I will never tire of the silly shenanigans of our favorite video game developer!
Haven't you seen video of Ruth? The guy flew around the bases! All of those players in the black and white videos had major wheels.
I only caught Halladay when he was in Philly. I remember the nasty cutter (should have way more break in the game), and the hard sinker. 4-seamer obviously. But I swore he threw a circle change, and I don't recall the big curve. Can some Jays fans help me out here? I could be totally wrong of course.
Good question. Only play h2h on work days, grind on off days. Chair has to be centered to TV, roughly 4-5 ft away. Boxers only, t-shirt optional. Shower first. No playing if I have company. Dinner at 5pm, regardless. Always end the day with RTTS.
Is anyone besides me killing it with Cover Athlete Miguel Cabrera? He's 2nd on my team in BA, 1st in HR's, 1st in OBP. I usually wait for Chipper, but it doesn't look like he's going to be around. So I'll stick with Miggy and his sweet swing for now.
Just played a fella who had 1-9 parallel V, and his bench and bullpen.
How can one accomplish this feat and still eat, sleep, bathe, go to school/work, and participate in society?
Is this tragic or applause worthy?
(I had him beat until my bullpen imploded)
This screen is always one of my personal favorites.
I'm currently ranked 78th in World Series division despite just hitting Wild Card. Around 33,456 in Spring Training. 147*? in Regular Season. My All-Star ranking is just the letter Q.
And my lusty team batting avg of .239 is good for 1st across all divisions, so take that, pretenders!
It would take a team of Mathematicians and Physicists several weeks to decipher this train wreck.
Love the game this year, but this screen should just be erased. It gives me nosebleeds.
Incidentally, my record is 8,765 - %$4.
I read a post last year that described zone hitting as taking "superior stick skills for high rewards". I agreed 100%. I've finally "gotten good" enough to consider zone my preferred hitting interface. But the more balls I square up, and the more times I pop up or hit lazy fly balls, the more I wonder if this theory applies.
Yes, it's baseball, and good pci placement and timing should never guarantee a hit. But as a born directional hitter, I can't help but think directional has become "less skill for equally high rewards", especially if you have a great eye (I do) .
I believe zone is still the way to go, especially at higher levels. But zone is no longer what seperates good from great.
Keep swinging, ladies and gents!
Tight game, down 3-1 in the 8th. John Franco on the mound for my opponent, Luis Robert on 1st, Acuna at the plate. I know he's going screwball, so with an extra step lead, I send Robert.
79 mph screwball almost in the dirt... Robert gets gunned down by Gary Carter.
I could have beaten the throw and I'm 48 years old with a bad back.
Advice- don't steal. And don't send the runner down 2 in the 8th regardless of your hunch.
Was a good game, though.

Baseball 101: Even if said pinch hitter is a pitcher (my CP is a SS), it doesn't require him to pitch. This was an issue last year. Probably will be in '23 as well. I can ask, though. Did you back out of the screen?

No. There's nothing you can do. Had two relievers ready to go. It just will not allow you to sub out.
