RE: Honest question for the Offline only gamers

@md-x-frosty_xbl said in Honest question for the Offline only gamers:

As the title reads…do you guys have fun sticking to offline?

It was my first year for the show and I’ve honestly enjoyed it. Server problems and all.

I’ve finally had enough of Ranked Seasons. And no, this is not me blaming SDS. I’m blaming myself. I’m so widely inconsistent that it has taken the fun out of the game. In my opinion, the whole point of DD is to build your team with players to like to play other’s teams online. I do enjoy particular events. But that gets me back to my problem. The point of DD, for me, is playing with A team with the players I work for.

So, restating my question…do you offline players still have fun grinding out for players to play offline? And is there anyone like me who had been happy “retiring” from online play?

Yes, I just love using the cards of players i like, that is what is most important to me, earning and using cards. Too much about ranked is about winning. I hate losing as much as the next guy, but the win at all cost mentally that leads to people finding any way to exploit the game to get a win is just too much for me, or the toxic R2 holding, sore losers who want to say nasty things to you after they lose, even when I have messages off. I have only played vs people when the mission requirements for getting cards were based on online stats. Sure I have had a few good experiences playing people, but those few bad experiences ruined the entire game for me when it comes to H2H play.

I'm usually a lurker and don't post much but dude everyone on this forum blames all of their problems in the game on SDS. This game has been great and it's the most fun I've had in a while and I'm not even good at it. If you get lagged out, sure, blame SDS. But I see people here blaming SDS because they did something wrong and don't know how to handle it. Sometimes try to be positive. Everyone talking about how bad this game is, if you really think its that bad, stop playing!!

Not everyone, but it has been dominating the topics. I find the block button to be my best friend when it comes to dealing with negative people on the internet.

It mostly dominates because of how much more comments it gets from both "sides" tbh. Just like how news networks know negative stuff gets more clicks

Seems like the philosophy of a lot of people. No one cares if I say nice things. But if I say mean nasty things then people will notice me. I see it on Facebook, Twitter, here, just about anywhere on the internet. I can't tell you how many people I have blocked. It's a reason I really don't like playing the show online H2H.

RE: Who Here Actually Enjoys Moments?

Hate them, only thing I hate more is Showdown, because at least with moments I can keep restarting until I get it done. Moments themselves suck and Showdown is Moments but without being able to restart. I highly doubt I'll do Showdown ever again and moments is just a time killer.

I agree, I've been happy with it. Years of conquest, it's nice to be home team and see some walk offs. Good stuff.

Either you thought you'd rake with them and you your bat is all noodle or you've never had success and now you mash.

Gary Carter- last year he was the only 99 from TA4 that I basically never used. His 96 second half card destroys worlds.

    Cedric Mullins- I.....can't....hit....anything.

Proof of what I have always said, some cards play better for people and worse for others, Mullins feels like a glitch for me, just crushes everything. It's why I have never been a big fan of card recommend posts.

RE: Is Derek Jeter The Most Overrated Player Ever?

Throughout his career all I ever heard was "if he didn't play for the Yankees, he'd not be as big of a name". His hitting stats look great, but he did play in the roid era, so at that time, It didn't look as good he really was. I think his fielding will always hold him back in the discussion of best SS ever. Until Jeter and the more modern game, most teams would rather have an Ozzie Smith or Omar Vizquel at the position, now fielding isn't looked at as much as long as you can get on base more than how many runs you allow on defense.

So I think like someone said The Bryce Harper thing, he was called overrated so much that he's becoming underrated.

Ultimately it comes down to what you want to use to define him. If you are going to walk around saying Jeter was the greatest SS to play the game, then yeah you are overrating him. But a guy who is probably top 10 at his position, no not overrated.

It’s far from perfect, but it is objectively the best. The lack of any real competition for more than a decade certainly helps, though. When other studios get a chance, it’s going to take some time for them to even come close.

I don't think it would take EA that long.
Look at how they made F1 '22, which was already a great game, and this is the 2nd year they made it.

EA only makes F1 cause they purchased code masters. Codemaster has been making the F1 games for years now just EA publishes them. EA is only in yhe F1 game because the purchased their way in it wouldn't be the same for MLB they would have to start from the ground up as their is no developer to buy who already has a game built

While all you said is true, I notice the EA difference or enhancement already. Been buying since F1 '16. There is an EA difference.
EA can expand the MVP engine, which I'm sure is parked somewhere 🤔

    It’s parked in 2007.

I’m not particularly excited for an EA game. Madden is not what it once was.

I'm not excited for an EA game, I'm excited to see if competition will push SDS to actually work on issues that we all have known about for many years.

As far as topic goes, this is what Tyler says every year. And since he plays franchise mode and franchise mode has been largely untouched every year for a decade, it's easy to see why he still thinks it is the best.

Yeah, if I had never played the PC version, I'd probably agree it was the best, but by the time the ps2 version came out I was pissed at its limitations compared to the PC version. But no denying how good the game play was even on ps2.

Yeah, HH for PC was best baseball game in the PSX era, and not even close. HH was on ps2, and was good but was still no where as great as PC version, which is how MVP was able to be best of that Gen. Although I still prefer ASB.

And yes PS2 still holds up, especially for NCAA Football. Ps2>Ps3 for that game.

    PS2 HH is king IMO.

Did you play HH on PC before it was on PS2? There was just so much more that you can do on PC than you could on PS2 back then. Along with the great game play, the one thing the PS2 version got right.

Maybe my age is showing here but Front Page Sports Baseball Pro 98 was my game of choice back in the day. Sierra Online used to make some of the best games...oh the memories!

Never played that one. As far as age goes. I grew up on Atari and NES.

But yes I miss those days, basically from NES to PS2. Back then we had at least a half dozen baseball games to choose from, each were good in thier own way and it really came down to preference.

I think it's the principle of the matter. It's less about how someone spends their money, and more about understanding what an actual accomplishment is per se. Especially as gamers, we are more impressed with actual gameplay or dedication/time put into something. Once someone literally buys a chunk of the progress, we do not care anymore. I think stating how much it cost in the beginning might have gone over better with everyone.

I think the issue is that a person isn't being allowed to be proud of something because other people feel like it was something so easy that anyone can do it. I say so what? If a person is happy about something that isn't hurting others then good for them, and it's ridiculous to see others belittle them over it.

FYI, I've gone 12-0 and 2 yrs ago I was always around WS. I have been friendly with some of the best players in the game. I don't need to flex and this was not a flex, I thinkk I made that clear in my OP. I don't have the time in my life to grind like I used to and I play for fun now , not to go 12-0 or get my rating above 900. I could care less if you're salty about my post. That says more about you than it does about me. Not even sure why you've spent so much time and energy responding to this thread and the people who are commenting on it.

I have no problem with you, your post or how you play the game.

Shark map has gotten weaker every year with rewards. I wouldn’t set your expectations too high.

Yep, what I was going to say. I like a new conquest map in general any way, do obviously excited for the all the packs, even if they are mostly headliners, but other than that first year, the shark map seems to have a bigger rep than actual pay out.

Again, the first shark map is the worst of them by a long shot. The reason you remember it as being so special is because it was the first conquest map to have more than a couple standard packs. The east/Central/west conquest maps have just as good of rewards as Shark map 1 did. 20's and 21's you not only got better packs but player cards too

Didn't play 19, but the hype of that map was big for 20 and it wasn't anything special.

So what we have here is a case of us both being right. 19 SM was less than the other SMs. But it was the one that was so much better than previous conquest maps that is has gained a big rep. I fully expect 22 to be just like all the other conquest maps and not a big improvement like the 19 map was over previous conquest maps.
