As a new to ranked player, recognizing and taking pitches was hard. It’s still hard, but I’m better at it. I’m not even playing the game this year, so it’s moot. Once I started feeling like I was competing against the game AND my opponent, it stopped being fun.
It is hard, but what happened to accepting that as a challenge? Not addressing you personally, but everyone wants to be good at everything right away. It doesn't work like that, not with video games and certainly not in life.
I agree with you, but life is too short to play video games that I don’t enjoy. I’m having tons of fun attending high A games instead.

Why is this thread a thing? The OP has left out variables of the eqation.
Who was the pitcher? What pitch was being used? What speed was the pitches? Why were they all out of the zone low? This looks so staged to me as a poor attempt to claim foul offs are happening all the time. It obviously was vs CPU.
Yeah, because vs CPU gives you a pause timer. You big dummy, thank you for completely discrediting yourself so I don't have to.

But you still haven't explained why so many low and out of zone? If someone pitched crappy like that to me you bet your @ss i'm using contact. People like you who pitch like this is just as much of the problem with online gameplay as the people you are complaining about. Your lil screenshot shows there was a hit where in the zone was that?

Is it crazy hour at the asylum or something, who let all these people out?This of course is not real baseball but, the same principals apply. @raesONE_PSN, you seem like a good dude, and I know there are many reasons why you might pitch this way to a hitter far less skilled, but to be frank, these are among the reasons many of us stay away from Online. I started playing BR last week and lasted 45 mins because nobody would throw the ball near the plate. If there was no lag, I might have had a small chance but I've only been playing this game a year (and it's the only video game I've played since Junior high), most of you would eat me alive. So I have 0 fun getting picked apart online...thus, I just won't play online.
I'll say this man, there is no shame in getting torn to bits by players who have been playing a lot longer than you have. When I started playing, I couldn't hit for my life and I practically lost every game I played. I didn't care. It actually gave me an incentive to practice and try to find ways to improve my game. And what I learned was to keep playing tons and tons of games against preferably players who are better than me helped me immensely. In my opinion that is the only way to get better. Now I do have to say that I did enjoy it in those days, even when I got hammered. Because the game was fair. Today, I don't think I could or would be willing to go through that because I feel like they killed the learning curve for reasons I have explained in this thread. But there are still many people who do enjoy it, and if you're on of them then I'd encourage you to keep playing online and don't focus on the results but on improving your game overall. Even if it would hypothetically come at the cost of 1000 losses.
I think the problem with your suggestion is that the current state of the game makes it really difficult to actually improve.
You can do everything right and still not get results (which also happens in real baseball, yes).
By all means, keep playing if you are having fun. I agree with you there.But if you want to practice and be rewarded for your efforts, prepare to be disappointed.
That is true, but you can work on your PCI placement and your timing while playing against the CPU. Increase the difficulty all the way up to legend, even though it's not nearly the same as online legend it will still be a challenge.

Oh yeah for sure man, wedgies all day and all my lunch money went to the star QB. Girls pretended to be into me, and I knew better.. right? But it was so convincing that I fell in love and I thought she was sincere. Mine is way higher than it has ever been. Forget how to pitch or lost my skills I guess. Just came off an event game where I hit the first 6 balls inside the pci with good timing. Zero hits. Early on an outside slider (in the pci also) was my first hit in the 3rd. I won that game but what is the use of good timing swings inside the pci? How about all the perfect releases that don't go inside the PAR. Isn't that what it's for? Guess you don't see these things?

I’ve been noticing the exact same thing in the MLB this year. Just last night I watched Jesse Winker see 22 pitches in 2 appearances because pitchers refused to pitch to him. This is why he leads the league in BB.
Is it frustrating and boring when pitchers refuse to give in and throw in the zone? Yes! Does it happen in rl? Also yes.
Should the MLB make a rule about throwing consecutive offspeed pitches in the dirt?
Nobody would ever suggest or agree to that. Why is it in this video game?
If it were me, I'd love my opponent to constantly throw outside the zone. I'll take all those walks and absolutely destroy him once the pitcher confidence is gone.

But I consistently lose to trash players due to the aforementioned issues

I was 15-9 yesterday in the event. Just one game I mentioned, I had 6 balls on good swings inside the pci not be a hit but early in the pci was my first hit in the 3rd. First two innings of really good swings that you are supposed to get rewarded for but just don't. If I'm off or can't read the pitcher I am fine with that. When I am doing what I am supposed to and never getting rewarded, it just sucks the fun out of it.

Gotta love the “timing hitting contact swing” combo… this brain dead mechanic (timing) was added so everybody has a chance to win without actually putting in the work to be good and win with a little bit of skill

Maybe it was put in as a option for folks that have disabilities and cant use anything else?
Fact is, timing isnt a problem like yall suggest. Zero top players are using it, just like every year its ZONE. If ya lose to timing players, ya might not be as good as you think you are, maybe? I bet, there are very few, if any, Timing players that are in HoF divisions or higher.
