The Most Interesting Player In Baseball Could Be Adalberto Mondesi (Attn: Ikasnu)

I know that Ohtani has had a lot of attention on him for a couple of years, but Adalberto Mondesi had a spring training OPS over .900 at my last look.
In 2019, Mondesi was on pace for 80 stolen bases before he sat out the 2nd half of the season. There are so many hypotheticals about how great he can be if he plays a full season. For instance, if he bats over .300 would he wind up being on base enough to steal 130 bases? If his power breaks out, would he be the best candidate for a 40/40 season, over Acuna?
I have this idea that if he scores 90 runs, drives in 80 RBI and steals 70 bases, he could be an MVP candidate in the AL.

I don't think he will breakout to that extent. He reminds me of Billy Hamilton and the big "What if" regarding him. If he could simply pick up his average to a .280 he would easily be an annual all star. I see him swiping 50+ this season barring injury, probably slaps 15-20 HRs, but he's probably only gonna swing a .265.

I would say he has way more upside at the plate than Hamilton ever had, but no doubt similar speculations about what if he could get on base more, exactly the same.

I think Acuna and Luis Robert could do it as well. I was surprised to see that Yahoo fantasy had Robert projected to steal 29 bases.

Adalberto Mondesi is still young and plate discipline can be learned, I think.

Byron Buxton has the same flaws as Mondesi(plate discipline) and is already better. I like Mondesi but I think Buxton has a much better shot of doing what you described
