    Thanks

I never played video games actively until I bought and played MLB the Show for the first time this past April. Three friends in real life got me into this game so that we could build squads and do fantasy drafts to determine who we can use (yeah, pretty nerdy, Dungeons & Dragons-ish stuff lol). It’s really helped keep my mind occupied from Covid. I’ve geeked out the most out of the 4 of us during this time and am the only one who posts here in these forums. My wife is still amazed at how engrained I’ve become.

With that being said, I wanted to give a shout-out to some of the great people in this forum to whom I’ve taken a liking. I kinda wish many of us knew each other in real life. There are also a lot of negative/troll types in the forums, but that’s ok too... I tell my kids (they’re in grade school) that it’s ok and that folks like that actually help us better appreciate and connect with the good ones.

In these lonely times for everyone, thanks to the great people here.

RE: Played against someone's credit card last night.

I have a suggestion (not that you asked for it). Don’t do the whole “take as much time as possible between pitches” toxic approach. Even if you thought he was trying to pitch as quickly as possible, that’s nowhere near as childish as taking as long as you can; and stooping below someone else’s level is never something that any solid human being does.

    I Can Understand Dashboarding

I played Fuzzy (from YouTube) in an Events game last night. Top of the 1st, he hits a 3-run homer, then replays it, followed by a bunt dance. Very annoying, but I keep pitching. He hits a wall-scraper, replays it, then double bunt dances.

[this is the moment I could empathize with dashboarders]

I proceeded to bean him (I don’t care if he’s YouTube famous), he led off a bunch of times, and we played this lead-off/pick-off attempt several times until I let the pause timer run out.

Not my greatest moment and won’t be a popular commentary, but I think I needed to vent.

RE: Showdown made me uninstall the game (feedback)

@midnightdt_mlbts said in Showdown made me uninstall the game (feedback):

Hello this post is not meant to be a hate post it's just meant to be feedback.

I am not very good at this game. I own and I admit that, I'm like a 400 or 500 skill level in head to head. If that. I very often struggle to make hits and score runs.

I've accepted that I'm not that good and I still enjoy building a team by doing all the offline content, And then I like to go online occasionally with my team and see if I can get some wins.

The showdown mode broke me. I ended up uninstalling the game because of it.. that game mode is actually quite fun but it's all or nothing nature is extremely frustrating for bad or new players. You can spend an hour on a run and if you don't beat the final boss you get literally nothing. Maybe some XP but that's it.

I really feel like if you make it to the final boss and lose you should still get at least one ticket I mean what's one ticket it's nothing. But it's better than literally nothing... If you win you should get five and if you lose you should get one. Maybe make it so you can't skip to the end(and still get the 1 guaranteed ticket) if you're worried about people just cheesing to get one ticket. But if you actually play through it all beat the middle boss and then lose in the final getting nothing is heartbreaking.

It happened to me four times in a row and that combined with the fact that I suck and lose online all the time I was just like what am I doing with my life why am I playing this game.

I hope this feedback is well received If a change such as this were to be made I will probably reinstall and come back because at least then I could feel like I could grind away and get the characters I want even if I'm bad and I lose to the boss half the time or more.

You can see some of the filth who plays this game by reading the responses to your post. They had to put you down when you’re down in order to feel better about themselves.

With that being said, as someone who can relate to your struggles (I picked up this game last year around this time), I understand. I was frustrated then and there were only two actions I took to get better results: 1) I bought a $175 gaming monitor; 2) I hardwired (Ethernet cord) my internet to my PS4. Those changes alone made enough of a difference to get better results that I wanted to keep playing and then I naturally got better. All of a sudden you can distinguish pitches coming as well as balls and strikes. It’s so significant that I think it’s understated how much that determines your “skill”. The truly skilled players are amazing at it and wouldn’t be so insecure to tell you to “git gud”. So you can tell all these guys that told you “cry me a river” and what not to eat a fat one because they’re really just salty about other aspects of their life and taking it out on you as a poster, but you won’t do that because I can see that you’re more mature than them.

You will get there if you’re willing to invest in that. If not, you’ll keep it uninstalled and totally move on to something else and I wish you luck.

RE: The best possible team right now in my opinion

    Bullpen

    96 Alex Reyes
    97 Josh Hader
    84 Aroldis Chapman
    91 James Franco
    95 Rob Dibble
    97 Dennis Eckersley
    99 Rich Gossage
    99 Mariano Rivera

Love that you did this and very helpful. One bullpen question though: Which James Franco should I use? The one from Pineapple Express or the one from Rise of the Planet of the Apes?

RE: What do you all do for work in the real world

I’m a YouTube content creator for MLB the Show. I have 3 brand new catch phrases:
We made a lineup of all 99s and you wouldn’t believe what happened!
We finally put John Doe on the squad and he hits absolute tanks!
    You love to see it!

    RE: Online hitting

    @elway7751 said in Online hitting:

Im so confused on how to hit online.
Sometimes I think I have perfect PCI placement and then the feedback has me nowhere close.
Other times I wait and then I swing and the ball is in the glove when my guy swings.
What really puzzles me is that when I do move my PCI and think Im right on it the feedback has me dead center, it's almost like it froze.
I'll never understand how zone works online.
I watch the YouTube's and it's so fluid, when I do it, I can't get the [censored] close at all.
Nobody has ever been able to explain online hitting in a logical way that makes any sense to me.

I swear when I watch an online video it looks like it’s slow motion for them.

I'm at 38 TB. Just need one double. I'm down 5-3, but I don't care about the win. I yell "DON'T TOUCH IT, I'LL GET IT IN 5 MINUTES". She says "WHAT???"... I yell again "DON'T TOUCH IT!!"

Two minutes later, I get my double. I look up, and there's my wife holding a battery in her hand. She said "Really? This stupid game is more important?". I said "YES". She said "But you lost. Why are you so happy?" I said "Because I completed a mission for 10 points". She stared back blankly. I said, "I told you not to touch it."

But, I know all of my friends on the forum are 100% with me. Right? I mean... you get it...

P.S. I typically try to get 2 wins per day so that I can get the WS reward. I did actually mean to answer the OP question.

I totally get you. But now, she’s definitely not gonna touch it for a while.

The game doesn't tell you the location of the person you're playing, so how would you even know if you're getting matched up against people 1,000 miles away? Your opponent could just as easily be someone minutes away with a lousy internet connection.

He probably bases it on the name of the city his opponent is using in their team name which tells you nothing as I’ve used Baltimore, San Diego, Initech, and British Columbia while living in Pennsylvania.

    👍 to Initech

To me I read that as 2 easy wins and call it a day

I don’t give a [censored] about the event rewards. As I stated, I want to try new cards and get PXP. Denied by childish behavior.

I get that but then playing events was the wrong place to do PxP which base on you OP you already knew this so I'm not sure what you want anyone to say beside you got what you expect???

I expect SDS to address this issue. It’s been a problem for years now. A timeout is easy enough.

I’m not asking a lot here.

It’s even worse with BR, where missions really matter. Yesterday on my first run of this program, I had someone try to dashboard a Joe Carter home run (thankfully they were too late) and then in back to back games had dashboards cost me the 40 total base mission (which luckily I got on my last game of that run).

I was playing BR yesterday and ran into a guy who was beating me pretty handedly, but he had popped up with Thome in his first at-bat. I was thinking about quitting out to redraft when I saw Thome was on deck again, so I walked the pitcher, put in my worse reliever, and gave Thome a meatball. He still hit a weak fly ball to left, but I ran away from the ball until he rounded the bases. He didn't ask for help or anything, but I figured it would be nice to put some positivity out there. There are plenty of tool boxes playing online, but it's not all bad.

Honestly, if that was me on the other end, I’d pause, send you a thank you message, and give you the win, even if I didn’t need the homer.

    @oachs83_psn said in Just frustrated:

Eventually got the three wins, staying up later than normal with tired eyes and shorter patience is definitely not the route to go with this game.

Yeah BR is IMO 10x worse than any online mode. It’s insulting to ones intelligence how blatant the comebacks are. I played a total of 3 BR games all year and one being yesterday. It’s just amazing how you can make a guy look absolutely foolish with a silver rated pitcher and your opponent looks like he just bought the game. The second you go up three or four runs you are now throttled down on offense and defense and boom your opponent is a perfect timing hitting god, until it’s tied of course then they magically can’t hit anymore.

I played my fair share of BR in years past and it’s always been that way and I would much rather stay away from that mode for my insanity sake.

It is rather sad people can't see the DDA kicking in. It is so blatantly obvious. Just goes to show you how many sheep there are in the world. Either that or just not very smart.

So you continuously play a game that infuriates you with DDA built in, yet everyone else is “sheep” or stupid. Got it.
