I dont want to be that guy but i will be that guy because of todays climate you want negro league players added and are asking why havent there been?
I think they should have been in a long time ago and I have my reasons as to why I think they aren't but they might not be the same as SDS.
I am all up for adding them but i want to know do you want their negro league stats to represent their attributes? They would have future stars attributes then. Like if they added saduharu oh from japan who hit 868 home runs his stats would be babe ruth with better speed and defense.
Haha, I haven't a clue how they do the ratings on the players. I don't get it. I'm not even sure SDS knows their own rating system.
-
Oscar Charleston would be an amazing addition too...

It's a licensing issue. Strat-o-matic had the same issue but was able to get it done.
SDS can too, just don't expect it this year. It takes time.
Strat-o-matic!!! MLB the Show of the 1970's. Loved that game.

Thats why they havent added them. Veey few played in the MLB and even those few were old as dirt when they did but was the competition back then the same as mlb competition back then? Some say yes some say a lot better but they werent allowed some say no some say eff no its like minor league vs mlb in todays game which is why only a few made it after the color barrier was lifted. A lot to consider other than add a name with a likeliness that most will never use.
-
sorry but jackie Robinson? How many people besides new players actually use him? His mission to get him was garbage too cause it was full of bs after bs after bs.

They have incorporated the Negro League players into their All Time Great set for Strat-o-matic 365. It's an online simulation that came well before Out of the Park baseball. I actually was part of the beta testing team when SOM Online first launched under the Sporting News site.

I want a Satchel Paige, he was HUGE.
Many of the Negro league guys are now in the HOF, so SDS can in fact use them in the game.
A bit off topic, but as a KC area native, if you are ever in Kansas City the Negro League baseball museum is absolutely incredible. The MLBPA donated over a million a few years back, but it was started by Negro League players donating money to keep it open. It's now over 10,000 square feet and full of exhibits.
As you exit, there is a baseball diamond with life size statues of players playing in various action poses at their positions. Standing next to Satchel Paige on the mound is a breath taking experience.
The MLB HOF has no licensing rights for those players. SDS has to go through the individual or company managing the player's likeness to add them in the game if they aren't an active player.
Paige is in the MLB HOF, so yes they do
He was the first African American to pitch in the world series and was elected to the MLB HOF in 1971.
The MLB HOF cannot give permission to SDS to use Satchel Paige's image or put him in the game. Any legend player you see in the game has to be negotiated by SDS with that individual or the company managing that player's image and likeness.
For example Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Cy Young, and Walter Johnson are represented by the Luminary Group. SDS had to get permission from and pay the Luminary Group to put those players in the game.
-
I'll take Satchel any day.
I hope they can get their hands on his license. I heard stories about him as a kid. He would walk the bases loaded so he could strike out the side.
-
They used to have the rights to satchel Paige at least in 08 and 09. And MVP 2005 had the rights to him and Buck Leonard and maybe a few others as well. The issue is not that they weren’t in the MLB.

My guess is licensing and it being MLB The Show not NL The Show.
They have minor league teams that aren't MLB, I think it'd be a great addition to obtain the rights to add Negro League teams, stadiums, and players.
I don't disagree at all. That's just my guess.

Why are there very few Negro League Players in this game? With the current state of our country now is as good a time as any to honor those amazing players by putting them in the game. I did a little research last night and it got me interested even more about the Negro League. There were some studs that played in the NL. According to MLB there are 35 Negro League players in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The only one I recognized on that list that has ever been in the game is Monte Irvin. WIth the absurdity of the Future Stars it's obvious they need new ideas. Why not Negro League players SDS??????

With the state of this country right now, what we need is cards of players that have fought the oppressive and deadly systems of socialism and communism.
Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez is a great example of a new addition who risked his life to escape the deathgrip of communist cuba. http://www.espn.com/30for30/film/_/page/brothersinexile#:~:text=Film Summary&text="Brothers in Exile" tells the,to get off the island.&text=Staying behind was Orlando%2C who,of having helped Livan escape.
El Duque's life matters and his story of escape is worth highlighting.
Black Lives Matter, and they do not deserve to be subjected to a socialist/communist movement attempting to be instilled by the political group fronting that name. Black Lives do not deserve to be exploited further.
What makes the movement socialist or communist? Nothing. Stop listening to Fox.
The fact it is a socialist/communist political movement as defined by themselves on their own website https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-we-believe/
Read their own website... They define themselves as a political group in right there... In their belief statement they outright refer to each other as "comrades" ... The black community does not refer to each other as "comrades", however, socialists/communists do. Look at those values on their own site, it's Marxism 101. All you have to do is read their material.
This organization also held an event in 2015 in which they had Nicolas Maduro come speak to them in Brooklyn to speak to them about social changes and invigorate them.
I didn't see this in Fox. I saw it own their own website.
Comrades against the oppression of black people. Comrades isn’t a term exclusive to communism, you just hear that in media so much. It is an organization fighting for black people. If equity between races and the end of systemic racism means their socialist, then so be it.
You obviously didn't read their website, their beliefs, or ideas. It has very little to do with "fighting for black people" and much more a political movement.
But anyway you carry on with your head in the sand, reading only the surface name of the group and ignoring their beliefs and principles as the exploit the black population to instill their socialist/communist political movement on their backs.
I wonder when Maduro will speak to them next?
Edit: @Original_Quad if that's not enough and you want even more blatant proof -- here is the BLM co-founder Alicia Garza being the featured speaker at the Socialism 2017 Conference in Chicago https://m.facebook.com/socialismconf/photos/a.10151245667482924/10154213114937924/?type=3

This would be great because I love the older players from before when TV was ubiquitous or even in existence so I can get a feel of how some of those guys played (even if the game isn't 100% realistic). Unfortunately I'm not sure enough people would appreciate those types of players to make it worth it to SDS but maybe they could release a few Negro league players in a special $ pack that goes to support something like the RBI charity or maybe a museum dedicated to the Negro leages.

This would appoear to be a starting point. Hopefully the chatter on this thread and responses to the recent survey prompt SDS to explore the rights to some of these players for MLB 2021.
