I posted this is in the MLB the Show Reddit, but I'm trying to get as much feedback because I hope its not just me.
Hitting is hard right now. It feels almost impossible after recent patches.
When I came over from 19 - my first MLB the Show - I sucked at hitting but managed to pitch pretty well. Now in 20, I cant do either - with the exception of the first week of the game where I could manage a few runs before that horrid patch.
Now I know I suck at hitting in 20. On RS I linger between 370 to 470 and have yet to break 500.
Im lucky if I score one run in a game. I played a 13 inning game where me any my opponent only had 2 hits a piece up until the 9th inning and neither of us were using any OP pitchers. (My lineup is almost all diamonds)
Its depressing. I feel like I'm trying to hit a golfball that's remote controlled to deliberately and precisely avoid coming close to my bat.
I got so fed up I changed to directional so I could just forget about the PCI and I got a lucky home run off it. Changed back to zone and I can't get a hit.
Late on low 90s fastballs and above. Early on high 90s fastballs. Late on offspeed. Popping up virtually every pitch regardless. To top it off I'll give up a solo or something on an actual good located pitch and that's all my opponent needs to win.
It's so depressing that I have to wonder... What's the actual point of grinding or even buying great players if I can barely get any hits? What's the fcking point in wasting all that time for no fcking tangible reward?
You might as well not even bother with online play. Feels like a gut punch every single [censored] game.
It's already affecting how I feel about the rest of the game. Flipping stubs is very time consuming with the current margins, but I keep at it so i can save up to slowly finish collections. But if I cant hit at all, no matter the player, why am I wasting my time?
I'm at the point where I dont want to actually play this game at all anymore. Never thought I'd get to this point.
I used to look forward to logging on and grinding out some daily challenges. It was fun. Playing as a crappy all Rangers team on RS even though I'd knew I'd lose almost every game was enjoyable because I knew I'd get Gallo. Same for the Padres to get Tahtis.
Now it feels like a minimum wage job that you cant wait to leave and rush home to play video games. I'm now tempted to play just about anything else.
I'm a casual, but I like grinding to get better players so I can have a chance at some actual fun - like scoring a few runs in a game even if I lose. With these recent patches that's getting harder and harder to do, let alone be a possibility.
Can you imagine how someone just starting off with a bronze team in RS will feel after a few games?
Every game is now basically going to be that feeling of a despairing fail that makes you want to simply stop playing. It really sucks because theres so much great stuff in this game, but that seems to irrelevant when I cant actually do the two things you are supposed to be able to do in a baseball game; hit and pitch.
Honestly this is a good thing.
I've got Trout, Mantle, and Ruth which are endgame cards which take alot of grinding. Their stats are still far better than any Topps Now cards in terms of end game. Consider these Topps Now cards. What do most of them all seem to have in common?
They all hit for power. Tons of 100+ power cards, often for both sides.
That's a smart move from SDS considering that most players - specifically newer ones - find it very rewarding to hit a homerun even if they lose. It's the perfect incentive for new players and casuals who might not necessarily be huge baseball fans. They might actually just stick around to play another game of RS or events if they at least feel like they have a chance to score some runs.
At this stage in the game, those are probably the exact players SDS wants to get in here. If these new players get hooked somewhat and invest some more time, they'll find a huge wealth of content for them to grind. However, they won't get to that point if they can't compete in the slightest against grinded God squads that trounce them and make them simply say, "forget it" and just exit the Show and play a different game.
Give em a carrot and perhaps they get the incentive to dig around the rest of the garden.
Dude.
You'd lose a huge amount of the player base, myself included. You'd end stuck playing literally the best players in RS as that's all that would be left.
Alot of players already struggle on Allstar, myself included. HOF difficulty with games decided by a solo homerun and 50 strikeouts will absolutely kill RS and possibly the game entirely for people who are just starting out.
In today's politically charged climate, this seems like a bad thread idea...
I assume you all have mortgages to pay and kids to feed. You never know who is digging through your social media feed from 2008 trying to see if any popular opinion you expressed back then that's heresy now and if it can be used to get you fired from your job.
Remember everyone, your company will sacrifice you the second there's a possibility of bad PR drummed up by newly created anonymous Twitter accounts even, if you've been there for 15 years. That's the world we live in now.

My dearest, SDS (with a comma after “dearest”), I am willing to spend some serious fish to complete the collection if the reward is any of the following: Josh Gibson Hank Aaron Roberto Clemente Joe DiMaggio Shoeless Joe Yogi I am not willing to spend fish of any amount if the reward is any of the following: Derek Jeter Any Cubs All other cards considered on a case-by-case basis. Please plan accordingly. Sincerely, Dr. Schnauzer Q. Face III, Esq.

LOL. See, this is the problem with some sox fans. They dislike the Cubs more than they like their own team.
I've literally been to games at Miller Park where the Cubs were playing the Brewers and Sox fans were there rooting for the Brewers instead of actually at Comiskey watching the Sox. (Yea i still call it Comiskey. )
I'm a lifelong Cubs fan through years of the Cubs sucking, but just as I rooted for the Sox in 2005, id hands down go for any great Sox legend that SDS put out.
Cobb is endgame. Walker can be too.
Question is: How big of a deal is Walkers 20+more arm strength or so?
Not that much in my opinion. Cobb has 73? Plenty enough to get the job done. Seriously, how often does arm strength come into play each game at key moments? Rarely. Even on plays to the plate its usually not enough of a factor to throw out someone with enough speed. Think about that.
Walker has more power to some extent, but that maxed contact by Cobb on both sides means he will be invaluable on HOF and higher. Plus 99 speed means he will tear up the base paths as well as run down anything in the OF.
Definitely sell him.
Gets me that much closer to my 1 mil buy order for him being filled.
I'm getting this on multiple devices and I've tried 4 different browsers. Seems something like something is up with the URL trigger security certificate issues.
Anyone else getting this?

Meh. FQs have their use - especially when you have young kids. Or perhaps you don't want to face Kluber for the 8th time in 10 games or you'd like to play somewhere that's NOT Shippet.
It takes a second to decline. If you are still irritated with them, then that's on you dude.
55 - 71.
Plenty of quits in there too for inning grinds for TA.
I'm always kind of glad I have a losing record. Makes people underestimate me a bit and slack a bit sometimes. (Note that only matters if I can actually hit that particular game.)
Strategy people.
I like to take a one step lead at least a few times.
Usually I have no plans to steal, but I want to make sure my opponent sees that I just might, especially with a runner on first with higher speed. If they throw over more than 3 times though, I'll not take that 1st step. However, I may take a step again and then quickly step back to the normal leadoff.
The idea is to get their attention on that runner and hopefully slide step one too many times and throw a meatball or at the very least have to alter their pitching strategy.
I notice this only works for 1st base. If you try to take leadoff at second you can get picked very easily with a one step lead - even with a runner with a high stealing attribute and if you quickly get back to the base. (Note with two outs, the SS or 2nd base arent as close to the bag though so you can safely take that one step lead.)
I've got it for the PC.
Can't wait. Probably will be the only thing I play.
I think it's overrated.

Not necessarily, but considering how easy it is to find people's personal information, it might be the the crucial piece of information that allows people to figure out the company you are with - especially in white collar and higher paying jobs.
Yea their prices will go down - assuming you can get any of each 3 bosses for previous innings.

@ICantHelpFalling said in 12-0 Flawless Idea for 21: @raesONE said in 12-0 Flawless Idea for 21: Ideas like these have circulated before. I don't think this will ever happen because despite them being unsellable, this would take a lot of stubs out of players pockets who live in BR because the demand for those exotic cards will drop substantially. Those million stubs should go to the players who did the work and put in the effort to get where they are, not to the developers (basically just erasing stubs from the game's economy). So let's say everyone can buy a 99 Chipper Jones for 1M in a non-sellable pack, everyone has millions and so everyone who can't go flawless will get him this way instead. Then I go flawless in BR the legit way, but I can't unload my Chipper because the demand for the card is now nonexistent as a result of these packs. As a regular 12-0 player myself I therefore strongly oppose the idea and I think this whole market development where everyone has millions of stubs but can't buy cards because of the lack of availability should be mitigated in a different manner. I get this, but you are in the top 1% of this game as a player that can go 12 - 0 in BR in this game. We need to think about the other 99% and make sure everyone else has some kind of chance at these BR rewards. Otherwise it systematically creates a kind of inequality of access which shouldn't be the case. Sure, perhaps BR rewards should be somewhat hard and expensive to attain, but not the current state with this limited of a supply. Its a surprise that this kind of structural advantage for 12-0 players exists. It massively rewards players who are already reaping more rewards than the rest of us considering how good they are at the game. I don't agree with this. The game is already incredibly generous towards players to make stubs and attain free end game cards. The flawless rewards are the only cards that are somewhat exclusive for us that you describe as 1%. But that's not even the main point. The main point is that I, and players like me, worked very hard to be able to go 12-0. Some of us on a consistent basis. We didn't wake up one day and all of a sudden we were able to have success, we spent countless amounts of hours upon hours to develop a skill level that puts us in this situation, endured all the frustrations that go along with going into a deep run. We have earned the right to be somewhat exclusive in this regard and to just walz into the conversation and say "hey, think about the other 99% of the game. I don't care about your achievements and efforts", I think that sounds very selfish and also a little bit entitled.

Yes, you worked hard and put in countless amount of hours to get to the level you are at over the years. That's a privilege unique to you and the 1% of those who can go on flawless 12 - 0 BR runs.
However the rest of us who are late to the party and havent been able to invest all that time don't have that same amount of privilege. Does that mean the other 99% of us should be held down and deprived of access to these BR rewards?
You should stand in solidarity with the other 99% of us who will never be able to go on a flawless run and encourage SDS to consider equal access for all of it's player base.
Plenty of us haven't been able to invest the time needed to get as good as players like you who can pull of these flawless BR runs - which is not necessarily a fault of our own. Newer players - especially in the last year or two - will always be at a structural disadvantage when it comes to the experience and reps that help one go on a BR run.
We can't catch up in that regards. That's a level of privilege that older players will always maintain - a definite structural advantage just on time played. You and other players are already standing on the top of the tower in that regards.
We are just asking that you allow the other 99% a chance to stand on the top of that tower as well - something the current BR reward system doesn't allow and essentially reinforces the current system of rewarding the 1% of players who are privileged to be incredible at this game.
Mookies live quirks are very good actually. Hes got like 6 of them that are actually active.
I'm not talking about descriptive ones like sniper, cannon, or hitting machine that are based off the card stats, but ones like fastball and breaking ball hitter, as well as runners in scoring position under two outs - stuff that will actually make your PCI bigger.
Mollie has like 8 of these from what I recall. The older legend guys like Hornsby rarely do besides pressure cooker.
