Just make him 2B and adjust his ratings accordingly so he is still a 83-84.
No
Just because you want him to go
so your investment pays off doesn't mean he should be a diamond.

Has there ever been precedent to change a players position mid-season??
If anyone's got MLB 20 booted up, check to see what Vlad Jr. was last year? If I recall, he was a 3B, which prior to last season was his primary position and he never played 3B last year ... just curious.
Yes, if they are for the most part playing one position, SDS usually will go out and change it
Well, just checked the MLB20 Marketplace and sure enough, Vlad is 3B. So maybe "usually", but clearly they didn't last year with Vlad, even though he played exactly 0 games at 3B.
Probably an exception, they also did things weirdly since it was a 60 game season.

Ketel Marte, last season 41 GP at 2B, 3 GP at CF ... is a CF in MLB20. Was not fixed mid-season.

Kris Bryant has 122 innings at 3B this year and 104 in LF.
Marcus Semien has 451 innings at 2B and 43 at SS.
That's not a good comparison.
So you want to go by innings then, Bryant is RF then with 127 innings there.

So basically it's about even between the 3 positions for him. Or 34-32-35, whatever it is. In that case it makes sense to use previous years. When its 92-8, the one with 92% of his innings is clearly and decisively his primary position.

And then when he’s moved back to SS because of an injury, trade, or just because, then what? He’s played over 90% of his career as a SS, just because he’s started at a different position for a couple months doesn’t negate the career he’s built at a specific position. Where’s he starting today?

When Joe Mauer played 1B at the end of his career, his DD card was a first baseman even though he was a catcher for a majority of his career

Yeah I don’t get this argument. Semien is the starting 2B for the blue jays in 2021. Just like Muncy is a 1B. Bryant seems a bit more complicated as the split is pretty even, and in a case like that using history makes sense.
-
Frankly, their roster updates are woefully inadequate. There are so many guys in the wrong positions. The only guys they seem to switch positions are pitchers (many times wrongly). The CPU lineups and bullpen choices are atrocious.
-
Had a good Month of May. April wasnt so hot and June, albeit 7 games, not so much either. How bout we let him prove something first. One hot Month makes you a one hot Month diamond card, POTM, not a LS diamond.
He was good with Oakland in his last full season though. So i could see him getting diamond if he keeps this pace.

How many Semien cards did you invest in OP?

This has not been the case, Yelich was RF in game all year last year, but only played LF. Others have already mentioned Bryant this year. Similar thing with Bellinger last year as RF in game, but played CF irl with mookie in right. I could find many more...

Think of it this way, if they change him to a 2b then we don’t have to see threads like this one anymore.
-
They still adjust sp vs rp vs cp constantly. There is absolutely no reason they shouldn't be updating players to their actual position. Gleyber Torres is the perfect example. Is he a garbage ss? Absolutely. But that's the position he's been playing since after the 2019 season but yet they still make him 2b because sds knows better. It's just inconsistent. P.S. I have 0 sellable semiens. This is just a pet peeve of mine in general

This is your 100th thread about Semien, Kieran. We know you have a lot of his cards and we also understand your agenda behind this. Takes less offense to get a bump to diamond at 2B compared to SS.
Do you agree that LS cards should display their correct position?
You do realize you’re contradicting yourself? You keep calling in his 3rd place finish as MVP last year, where he played every game at SS, and in 2019 played 161 games at SS, he’s played only 53 of his last 274 games at 2B, for a whopping total of 19.34% of games in last 3 years as a 2B. Just because you want something, doesn’t mean it HAS to happen.
No I’m not contradicting myself. LS cards play their current position but have some small stat adjustments based on the previous couple years, it’s not that hard to understand
Agreed but good luck. Nick Senzel was listed at 2nd base by SDS for two years despite playing zero games at 2nd his entire career at that point.

He is a mediocre player who has had a hit start. End of discussion.
he was top 3 in MVP and he's top 5 in position player WAR, needs to be diamond and look at the stats, at the very least he needs to be the correction position
I agree with the position change.
Better hope he goes diamond this update because he is batting .242 in June so far.
-
Well, guess I was wrong and they adjusted his position. Seems like SDS at least doing a better job on position changes, they haven’t been this proactive in the past. Good job on getting the position change correct.
