Best Catcher in the Game?

The passed-balls are not as much of an issue if you don’t throw the breaking pitches that bounce three feet in front of the plate. I mean, you can throw a chase pitch that the catcher can actually block. It IS possible.

I don't know dude, I've thrown fastballs down the middle and have the catcher somehow vacuum the ball into his armpit and straight to the back stop.
Now I just use Piazza for his bat and accept the fact that there's going to be some swings and misses on pitches in the zone that still won't be caught by the catcher lol.

Brutal. I guess I’m lucky to have not had the worst of the passed bawl luck.
-
Bench for me
-
Passed ball problems are really bad and prevent you from pitching the way you want it’s pretty dumb.
-
I’ve tried bench, realmuto, carter, and piazza. Carter and Piazza have the smallest sample sizes, but I’ve hit the best with Carter so far out of everybody. I’m currently using Piazza. I have about 40 at bats with him. The hitting is not great but he’s throwing out runners left and right. Go figure.
-
I have 89 switch hitting moonlight "doc" Graham.. Maxed out with equipment
-
I've played with Finest JT, SS Bench, Finest Grandal, and All-Star Weiters. Each of the starts out hot, but the averages end up way down when as the sample size grows.
Guy Gardner is the high contact switch hitting catcher of choice for my Emerald City Lanterns.
Kenny Lofton swing, in case you were wondering.

I use 95 McCann now and JT. I have pudge, posey and Kendall. McCann is an underrated card

I have used every catcher this game has to offer in terms of sigs, and they all kind of grade differently
If you want insane offense and defense that will do the job
Posada
Maybe finest grandal (side not my phone auto corrected to “finest grandad and I laughed way too hard and long at it)
If you want elite defense and serviceable offense
Pudge
Posey
Carter
MolinaIf you want a guy who’s elite at both
Bench
RealmutoIf you want a guy who is gonna only
Hit breaking pitches and lefties and throw 0 runners out and cost you games with pass balls but cost a dumb amount of StubsPiazza
If you want a guy who has decent stats on both sides but just doesn’t really make you that excited
Kendall
McCann

SantiagoThis is a pretty decent breakdown. I especially love your Piazza breakdown “...hits breaking pitches and lefties...” hilarious.
Never thought about McCann before might give him some run. Never thought of Posey as elite defense though.

SantiagoI think those groups are pretty spot on, but I’d add Carter in with Realmuto and Bench. Very similar offensive attributes to Realmuto, but with 120 vision and only okay speed for a catcher. I had much more success with him over Realmuto anyway.

Was going to say this. People sleep on McCann. He hits way above his attributes.
-
I personally do the best with Kendall. I am using JT right now just to check him out, but I forsee myself going back to Kendall in the near future.
-
Brian McCann is the only catcher who's made me feel like I need to be careful how I pitch, so that must mean something. But of all the non-CAP catchers I've tried my best one has been, by far, Gary Carter. Really good hitter, and an excellent arm.
-
I keep going back to Grandal. He's "only" a 96 and slow as could be, but there's something about that swing.
Haven't tried Bench or Piazza yet though. Don't like Bench's swing and Piazza is collecting dust in my collection. Used him so much last year that I can't bring myself to roster him.
I like JT and Pudge, but get bored pretty quick with them and go back to Grandal. Every. Time.
