Prestiged Cards... Let's talk
-
I have two pitchers prestiged (Oswalt and Wood) - they both are better than the regular versions
Batters are Bagwell, Correa, Walker, and Chipper. Bagwell is about the same, The other three have OPS about 100 points lower with the prestiged version. Those 4 used to carry me. Luckily I have Yordon, Bichette, and Biggio who have been carrying the offense. Also I haven't played many events so the unprestiged versions didn't really get a boost from that. I would say 95 percent of their at bats are from RS

Wouldnt the prestige start playing lower simply because how it got prestiged. It probably was prestiged in events(where people may or may not care about playing)
Then go into using them in ranked and as u go higher obviously there is better talent playingThis, and the fact that you’re also facing better pitchers the later in the year you get. If you were playing with Mantle and Sheffield in April the best non-Kluber pitchers were like 93-95ovr, very different now when there are so many better pitching options
-
Prestige cards are essentially the same thing as the one before. Those plus 3 if applicable arent gonna make a difference. It is just a completion thing.

Right. And your newly-Prestiged hitters might also be facing your opponents’ newly-Prestiged pitchers, which sort of cancels out any stat boosts on both sides.

I went and looked at all the prestige cards I've had a good amount of time using to see the stats.
99 Regular Mickey - .317 Avg .961 OPS
99 Red Mickey - .315 AVG 1.009 OPS99 Regular Gary Sheffield - .338 Avg .990 OPS
99 Red Gary Sheffield - .309 AVG .981 OPS99 Regular Larry Walker - .337 AVG, 1.002 OPS
99 Red Larry Walker .302 AVG, .852 OPS.99 Regular Posey - .333 Avg .857 0PS
99 Red Posey - .271 Avg, .767 OPSSo, it seems like half my prestige cards are basically performing the same, so it probably is just a case of too much pressure or just not having quite the sample size that the regular card does.
Sample size for sure. But also, you are facing better players now (Most of the casual guys have moved on to other games), and you're facing a better pool of starting pitchers.
-
A lot of good points made that I hadn't thought of. Thanks to all.

Was just going to say this. Stats can't be compared 1:1 because of those variables.
-
I think it is ties to how the card is prestiged as well......for me I like to use the base versions on all-star (most events and ranked below ds) whereas I usually bust out the prestige versions when on hof......naturally the stats aren’t as good but when the stats were achieved were also different.
-
Later in the game cycle=Better pitching. That's all I can attribute it to. And the fact that stats were inflated on original cards due to people using them in events. Those were mostly on AS.
-
While obviously not always the case, there will be many scenarios where people have better stats with the base because they used the "XBH with blank and I'll quit" method.

And how many of us used the Moonshot event to collect a large portion of these prestige stats?

This was the first year of prestige’s and they need work. Offline next year as well with a +5 boost to ever stat is what I hope for
I agree!! Too much work for only 3 points.

I laughed today when Robert Flores mentioned in the stream how these should be offline too
I love that, also loved how all the SDS guys kind of just looked at the floor waiting for the moment to be over. Imagine hating so much of your playerbase to try and justify inflating your PVP numbers.
-
Glad I’m not the only one who was thinking this lol. Like someone else said earlier though, I think it’s just from the prestige pressure.
