Baseball is like Poker.

Good players can occasionally be unlucky and lose.
Bad players can occasionally get lucky and win.

But in the long run the good players with skill will outperform bad players. I mean isn't that why the season is 162 games and the World Series is 7 games? So that the better, more skilled teams rise to the top and have an opportunity to overcome bad luck in a few games?

Lots of jokes about “functioning as intended”, but I think they are getting the gameplay they designed this year. Lots of complaints about gameplay last year, yet they doubled down on areas where there were lots of complaints. This wasn’t by accident…the developers are skilled at what they do. Pretty certain they could create this game with gameplay out of this world, but that is not the product they are trying to create.

Not one bit. I think when they stated it was “functioning as intended “ during the stream, they really did feel that way. This gameplay creates a balance among almost all skill levels which is what they want. If they wanted a game where stick skills really reigned supreme, they would not keep moving further away from that. They could create that game and have been closer to that game in the past.

So you’re telling me they intentionally made the gameplay terrible? What about the fielding and pitching issues, was that intentional as well? Are you reading what you’re typing before you hit send? No way this game is playing as intended.

First of all SDS is who said it was "functioning as intended". I just quoted it and said more and more I am starting to believe it is the truth. I would ask why that is so hard to believe if...1) Gameplay was better in previous versions...2) They have created a game with more CPU determined outcomes...3) Have made a game that allows a wider skillset to compete against each other. I have definitely read what I wrote and I know that you complain about this game as much as anyone, so I really don't understand what I have said that bothers you so much. I think quality gameplay comes second, third or fourth to SDS. They don't intentionally create terrible gameplay, but they want "balanced" gameplay and that is their priority over quality gameplay. That is why they say things like "functioning as intended".

What it comes down to in my opinion is that they are incapable of making quality gameplay. That don’t have the skill set or the right people for the job.

They obviously do, they can keep bad players competitive with good players and good players competitive with great players. Even a terrible player can hang around against a good player. It’s pretty impressive. You are just confusing what they intended with what you wish they intended.

I’m 19-1 and my one loss was to a sub .150 hitter. I’m almost positive that guy hasn’t quit playing even with most of his guys hitting around .100 and neither have you. So yes, It’s working as intended. They’ve even managed to hide it a lot better than they used to with bogus hits and insane fouls as opposed to your OF just dropping the ball every couple innings and moon shot HRs outside the PCI.

The fielding is a mess along with pitching, it’s not just hitting. Who wants to play a game where no matter the skill set it’s turned into an even match up? If you’re not good at the game you shouldn’t be rewarded just for participating. That’s life, some people are just better than others.

Exactly!!! Isn’t that what the division’s are for? To separate players according to skill? I used to play CS to WS every year, now I’m in the 600’s having RNG snooze fest games in freaking all star! Sad to say in my opinion hitting last year was better and that’s not good but at least you could go duke it out and actually score some runs. This year it feels the game is almost predetermined before it starts.

And to correct the statement you quoted, his card was never near 1 million. It was around 150,000, I believe. Because as I recall that’s what I paid for it. His Trump 99 card with a million for a long time. I believe the Trey Turner 99 card is still at 1 million. The Trump 99 card is now around 400,000 stubs.

Pretty pathetic state of affairs when you have to congratulate someone for sticking around for an entire game. I guess that's just this generation though. Call me an old fart.

You believe people quitting is a generational thing? Please elaborate.

Every generation since the dawn of time has thought the next generation was softer and had it easier than them yet for some reason every time people think it is exclusive to the next generation and are unable to see how they had it easier than the last. It's also counterintuitive because as parents you're supposed to want to make things easier for your kids than you had it. Then people complain when their kids generation has it easier than they did.

FOTF Manoah has been lights out for me online, but it has been on AS difficulty, I haven't used Kershaw or Marte online enough to give an opinion, but they are great offline. In my next RS game, I will be starting Kershaw, he's got a decent pitch and velo mix.

Problem is that you won’t have the cards to complete the chase program which I’m thinking is going to require you to complete a bunch of other collections to include the live series collections to progress through that program/collection. And 3 million stubs won’t be nearly enough to recoup those cards that you sold off as the prices for those cards most certainly will skyrocket once the chase collection is revealed. So my guess is you’re probably going to regret having flipped everything at this point. I think the collective suggestion right now would be to start buying up live series cards ands start hoarding your other premium cards until that reveal.

I flip diamond equipment not players.an I have already finished all of the ls collection and the other collections plus I finished all missions,moments,maps,an I don't sell anything that I already had that could possibly be in that collection.its not my first go in DD so I know what we will probably need especially after it dropped last year.im just not buying random cards at the moment guessing they might be in collection then get burnt by not needing those...I already got alot of prime,reward,as,rookie,breakout,etc that I just might need alot less that I think...I could also need more..but last year I didn't want honus so I didn't bother.this year it's probably babe Ruth or a new legend not revealed.if it's Ruth I'm definitely doing if not then I saved alot of stubs

Cards hit different for everyone, but out of all the cards in your lineup, nine of them hit as good for me as Walker. In fact the only card better for me is Mantle.

Once you get JRoll, i can't see much improvement, outside of Mantle, who i can understand maybe out of your price range, you can play Correa at 3B.

All 4 of my lefties are productive for me. I guess my thinking that Brock is too unique and produces runs to take out. Cano is the best bat on the marketplace imo, and Belli is very productive and free, leaving Walker, who is productive but expensive.

I think I'll just try Chipper and maybe slide Correa to 3rd once I get Rollins, and save my stubs for a better 3rd baseman to come.

POTM Didi is a good replacement guy too. Absolutely smashes everything.

Tbh I think I would rather have 95 Groffey replace Victorino with my roster build than someone like Thome or Papi. Holding what I have in the field and waiting for better cards to upgrade Victorino while working on my pen seems like the best option.

I agree with the above comment on lefties, and I would also put Belli in the outfield to utilize his defense and arm, and move Victorino to the bench. Get Silver Slugger Daniel Murphy in at 1st (secondary). He hits tanks, his defense isn't going to hurt you at first, and he's under 10k.

What's his speed? (I'm at work). Only reason I've opted to keep Victorino in center in Belli at 1st is that I dont want to be lugging a slow first baseman around when I already have Posey and Cano. Victorino is probably a better fielder too and gets a lot of cheap hits. I feel like I like him more than most of the 1Bs I've seen, though some extra power would be nice.

Murphy's speed is a 42. The only time you'll notice it in the field is those weak out of bounds popflys behind first. Other than that, the speed doesn't kill you. Belli still has gold (diamond when you prestige) fielding in the outfield, and if you put FOTF Davis in center, he'll make most of the plays in the outfield Victorino would have.

Used Hershiser for the first time last night and threw a complete game shutout. His control was insane. Just paints the black.

Games a complete joke right now. I tried to ranked games, opponents rewarded for early late good okay. I’m good goods with low exit velos for outs. Perfect perfect outs. I’ll stick to events and br. At least it’s only 3 innings of bs

You can't "blow it", go with the greater need; personally, I use Sandberg far more than Posey but neither are starters.

I also would vote for Oswalt. I'm five RS Innings away from Prestiging him, and he has the best control in my rotation.
