This thread right here is a perfect example of what has impressed me so much about the quality of the conversation on this site. I’m not being sarcastic at all, rather I could not be any more sincere! The OP decided to post a comment regarding a subject that he obviously believed to be a nonsensical aspect of the game, relying on logic to back up his argument…and, the way he has it constructed in his mind, he’s got it 100 percent correct. However, logic and baseball aren’t always the best of bedfellows…which is a fact well known to anyone who has spent their youth playing the sport and not the video game; the OP ‘outed’ themselves in a conversation board about baseball as someone who has clearly never played the sport. Not ONE PERSON was disrespectful, rude, or condescending to this young feller! Instead I got to see you guys take the time to try and explain it and make it a learning experience - not only for the OP, but for anyone else who should ever wonder the same thing and end up directed to this thread…perhaps even decades from now? I want to say “kudos to ya’ll” for this. THIS is the true spirit behind why forums such as this one ever came into existence. Had that kid posted his comments to, say, Reddit perhaps, the outcome would’ve been far, FAR uglier and the OP would’ve carried the scar with him for a while and may have even started second guessing themselves before speaking up later down the road. Wouldn’t y’all agree? I HATE reading how ugly people choose to be to their fellow man (human being) typically online. I’ve never been able to truly understand it, either.

I know that I’m one of very many online who spent time on this rock both before and after computers became a part of our daily lives, and it sure gives one a bit of a unique perspective on such things…but what I’ve noticed that has remained the same is that I’ve personally never, not even one time, been spoken to in a condescending and rude manner, yet I rarely can go three posts on a website without being either infuriated or frustrated to the point of exasperation…and one only need to read the comments on any news story these days and you’ll see people trading messages back and forth with each other for days about the most frivolous things…and rarely ever will you come across intelligent discussion on the actual subject of the article! Haha! I’m sure this happens here too, but what I’m saying is that, so far, I’ve seen the opposite of what me the status quo here at this site. It has been my experience in life that the vast majority of adults are, almost without exception, nearly ALWAYS cordial and decent in their interactions with their peers, and even more so when it comes to encounters with someone they’ve not met before…which is just about ALL people that one speaks with online! My guess is that I’ll never understand why it’s typically so vastly different online - but I have a suspicion that the solution to it is…….BASEBALL! Yes! It’s a proven fact that baseball fans are more intelligent than any other demographic. OK, I admit the previous sentence was a complete fabrication, devoid of ANY proof (that I’m aware of…and I ain’t looking to find out, either), but it remains my opinion!

I continue to be impressed by the quality of conversation here. Baseball is just awesome. Video games are awesome. We have us a baseball video game that, for the most part anyways, is incredibly fun to play, isn’t trying to brainwash us with radical political views, isn’t trying to make anyone feel left out (except you, Mackey Sasser, but maybe one day they’ll add you), and has given us baseball fans a great way to better enjoy the game as a whole. Seriously, how great is that!?

I tip my cap to you all. A class act and very encouraging.

I get what you’re saying, but there’s a caveat. I clearly stated I’ve faced pitching in a competitive setting. I played for thee Jackie Robinson West little league team. I played baseball in high school, and at Chicago State University. Also, I am not that young.

Then I would like to apologize for my error(s) and also if my post came across as offensive in any way; it wasn’t my intention at all and what I should have done was re-read what you wrote before making my post, but instead I read all of the replies, went to the grocery store, came back still thinking about how much I’d been enjoying my time on this forum, and THEN wrote my bit. I’m really very new to trying this forum experience, and I wanted only to make positive posts that celebrate the bond we all have as people who both enjoy the game of baseball as well as this video game…baseball I know - video games and online stuff…not so much. I assure you I have no desire to offend, but rather to point out the good qualities in things, which I personally believe we could all benefit with a little more of. Again I apologize for anything I wrote that misrepresented you.

No worries. It was an honest mistake.

I wish that gamers who put these kinds of topics on the board would read about hitting first. Or, if they don't like to read, at the very least go out and hit against live pitchers.

Now we’re speaking my language. Hitting live pitching in a competitive setting is not unfamiliar to me.

@Blind_Bleeder said in Power Vs L/R:

Hitters will hit differently against left or right-handed pitchers. Some have more power against the same or opposite side because the angle the ball comes in at. It is a real thing and belongs in the game.

The angle the ball comes in affects the way they see it, and the quality of contact. It doesn’t reduce their power

    We've been through this...

Scharber his 36 bombs and slugged .566 in 400 ABs against RHP.
He hit 10 HRs and slugged .386 in 200 ABs against LHP.

    Ergo...
    RHP - 125
    LHP - 79

Because he sees the ball better and makes better contact vs right hand pitchers. When he “squares it up” vs lefties he hits it just as hard. He just squares it up less.

  • Power Vs L/R
  • GreedyG103_XBLG GreedyG103_XBL

Should not exist. There should be one rating for power as power denotes strength. Strength doesn’t increase or decrease based upon the handedness of the pitcher. What does change is the way the batter sees the ball, and thus contact. If anything there should be a “Vision Vs L/R”.

This would make it where a player will be more or less likely to square up a pitch based upon how they see a pitcher of that handedness. But if a player squares it up, their strength should come into play no matter the handedness This would be a more accurate way to rate players.

Not to be a [censored] to the devs, but come on maaaan. This game just needs a fresh overhaul. Very stale. No bs I legit can't even tell the difference in the games trailers the last 4ish years.

This may be the first one I legit pass on, or just wait till late season when it's dirt cheap if we even get one

This is the first year they really worked on small details. Not to mention the game looks incredible on PS5 in 4k

Incredible? Those player models are pretty bad. And the players have no rigidity at all. Just smooth clay like skin!

    lol exactly

i was expecting a nice update with the PS5 being out for a couple years now

I honestly don’t see much happening in terms of updates to the game until they stop making the game for PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe then there will be a major overhaul.

Madden, 2K, Fifa, and NHL all have overhauled their graphics all while remaining on old gen systems. Also when the Show went to PS4 there was a large leap in graphics all while (you guessed it) still making the game on PS3. That is not what’s holding them back.

They probably won’t ditch the PS4 for a couple more years. Meaning we would have been in the Current Gen (Next Gen) for about 4 years. That is an unacceptable timeframe to experience a jump in graphics when the character models look 10 years old sir. And all the other games have simple things like hair physics. Why must us baseball fans be treated like peasants ? 😂

Also have studios ten times the size of SDS wake up

SDS improved graphics year one of the PS4 while still supporting PS3. Wake up! Stop acting like this isn’t possible.

If they actually significantly upgraded the presentation, Diamond Dynasty would benefit the least due to the presentation being locked to fast play. With that said, all modes will benefit greatly as presentation has been severely lacking.

I hope you're right, but was there any part of the DD presentation that the DD players or influencers wanted to change? If so, I'd argue that might get precedent.

No worries there brother. They aren’t the least bit concerned with presentation, or graphics. They just want more legends 😂

You obviously don't read the extensive complaints in the DD section about gameplay.

i’ve seen them. They just have nothing to
Do with presentation so I omitted. I know DD players care about gameplay first, legends second, and not much about graphics about presentation (not a mahor part of DD) or graphics.

Not true evolution then if not highlighting over entire lifespan IMO. Basically just showing lifespan on PS4 and once a focus on next gen consoles we will get substantial improvements

The last version shown was PS5. They should have a focus on next gen consoles now. You don’t have the abandon the last gen to appease the current gen (next gen). Just include improvements in the next gen game. Nevermind cross gen play.

  • Player Speed Metric
  • GreedyG103_XBLG GreedyG103_XBL

I want to know the same. I wish the metric was watching actual baseball footage lol. That would resolve a lot of these problems. No way Mookie Betts and Tim Anderson should be below 80 in speed.

Another one that is hit or miss badly is arm strength. Remember Betts had an average arm in the game, then made a throw from the right field wall to 3rd base in the air which caused them to boost his arm by like 20 the next roster update. Shouldn’t take that

    1. More player definition in face and arms (this is the only skin you see on a player). Players appear to have a smoothed out texture overall and would benefit from rigidity.

    2. Overhauled commentary. The majority of the lines were heard in years past, changing a lot of them would greatly add to a fresh feel.

    3. Life-like water. In stadiums where this are fountains or lakes, I would like for the water to behave like water upon being contacted by the ball. The ball bounces off the water like a hard surface currently. A splash (with the audio) would greatly add to the immersion.

    4. High fidelity stadium backgrounds.

    5. The ability to go over 99 in all
ratings. Some people are just faster
or throw harder than everyone else
and I would like to see this reflected.

    6. Pitching motion/release fixes. Pitchers in the game don’t seem to move in as violent a motion as pitching tends to be. Would like to see an increased arm velocity.

    7. More varying exit velocities. 112 ish seems to be the hardest exit velocity you can reach even with full power ratings and a perfect perfect. Throughout a baseball season, many balls are hit harder than this.

    8. Mention of milestones/records during single players modes. You hit your 74th home run, and the commentary mentioning (Insert name) has now broken the record for single season home rins! Maybe some mention of how close you are beforehand. Really that ties into the upgraded commentary though.

8.Realistic looking hair that moves realistically

Thank you for your time and hard work.
