RE: Wouldn't 'guess pitch' add more strategy to the competitive game?

You already have "guess pitch" at your disposal. Put the PCI where you think the next pitch is going and time it correctly. You can even guess inside or outside and try to adjust up or down. All the strategy you need. It's kind of how the game is meant to be played.

Slowing pitches down or getting power boost makes it fortnite. F-that.

RE: How do you make a sports game completely unrelated to skill

@kingakp_xbl said in How do you make a sports game completely unrelated to skill:

    Its a game

Yes, it's a game that's rigged to help weaker players (which are the majority) keep up with better players so they stay interested. It also works in reverse as some better players will think they need "better cards" when they lose to weaker players with better cards. It's all designed to manipulate people into staying interested and SPEND MORE MONEY.

Have you ever been to a carnival? All those games seem within reach, but what happens? You wind up spending a ton of dough before you get a medium sized pink dragon with googly eyes. Same philosophy here.

RE: Lack of competition = Lack of innovation

You're looking at wrong. It's not that the devs don't work. In fact they're probably being taking advantage of, and being nickled and dimed.

The fact is, there is no need for a company to invest its earnings into making a better product when dummies will poor money into the one they already have. The game has been broken and unfixed for how long? and the dummies dump millions into it for virtual nothingness. They;re taking advantage of human FOMO. Fear of Missing Out. I'm not sure the problem will ever go away. People are stupid. Sports gaming is dead. It's just a racket now.

Whattup SDS, it's ya boy Franchise Playa! #FIXFRANCHISE

Whattup SDS, it's ya boy Franchise Playa! I'm mad-phattie-dope-kicken-it here playing some conquest and I'm BORED OUTTA MY FUGGIN' MIND. It's June ALREADY! Can you please fix the issues that are holding back FRANCHISE MODE!

I know I don't make videos with thumbnails of my stupid face in an excited state reacting to the same 'ole content-update you trick momos into thinking is something special and tell people I'm "their boy", but come on man! The problems aren't even gameplay related. They're mostly logistical.

It's one thing that the base logic resembles that of the MLB oh, about a decade ago, but could you at least fix the day-game/schedule issue? Ya bunch of greedy EA wannabes.

    posted in General Discussion •
RE: How do you make a sports game completely unrelated to skill

Holy Mackerel! Some of you momos are taking this too literally. It's not there's no skill needed. In fact, if you were a complete beginner with little understanding of baseball, you'd have a large mountain to climb to become a competitive online player.

    That being said...

Have you ever heard of EA's patented DDA? Maybe you know it as Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment or "Surprise Mechanics". It skews the base level of the game when certain criteria are met. Call it whatever you want, but all the major sports triple A games that want to sell you packs and stubs and hubs and bubs, use subversive algorithms in hopes to manipulate enough of the players into spending money.

    That being said...

Yes, there are players who are really good. You can apply the Pareto Principle, where 80% of the players will be average and below and 20% will be above average to elite with the extreme 1% being super elite. The code allows for this because it has to. It has to have some resemblance of reality or else there would be no argument. Also consider, that it is NOT a perfect system. It is a work in progress. Like any other computer coding, just getting it to be stable is a difficult task on its own. Plus, with all the scrutiny these companies have come under, they've had to change their methods to better hide their deception.

    That being said...

It's just a buff and nerf system. It's not scripting. It doesn't mean I can automatically take advantage of my opponents defense if it has been nerfed. I still have to execute an input to achieve the goal, point, run or whatever. A bad player, or a player on tilt, or a drunk or stoned player may miss most, if not all of his/her opportunities (although, on some older versions of NHL, it was known that if you put your controller down, your goalie would become super human at least for a short while).

    That being said...

It's about the 80%. The game is buffed and nerfed where the elites can get through, but the average players can be manipulated. Don't feel too bad however, there are plenty of elites who over spend. They will need the higher powered items (cards in this case) to compete at the high levels. Back in the day, an elite player could get to the high levels with base cards, but that's a thing of the past. The code has clamped down on that sort of thing.

    That being said...

I could care less. I just want a deep Franchise mode with great gameplay that works properly. Not this half baked nonsense we've gotten ever since the money modes were introduced. You think we're ever going to see Online Franchise again? Probably not, because a lot of people would enjoy that and SDS fears it would take away from DD. They want everyone sucked into that garbage. That's my theory anyway and that's why I hate them and the apologists that defend this garbage.

    SDS, take your multi-game "moments"....

...and shove 'em. Shove 'em so far that they will never be heard from again.

With all the line drive outs, the pitcher's wall, perfect/perfect warning track bombs, HBPs, etc., this skewed con of a game mode is a clear indictment of what rip off con artists you've become. It's clear this nonsense is designed and skewed to waste time and increase anxiety so you can exploit the FOMO (fear of missing out) in your younger customers.

On top of the ridiculous rate of HBPs, waiting for the pitcher to throw a strike, waiting for the RNG to finally, OMG, decide a perfect/perfect or a good/good will be a hit, having to sift through all the awful menus to get to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. game is absolutely infuriating because you're taken back to the top menu. Tell me that isn't by design! You 2-bit demons.

And I don't want to hear from the apologists "oh, well they're better than EA". Enough. A con is con. This whole industry needs a kick in the sack. Every years it's the same thing - half finished and/or broken game, bigger con. Take a long walk off a short pier.

Not to be a [censored] to the devs, but come on maaaan. This game just needs a fresh overhaul. Very stale. No bs I legit can't even tell the difference in the games trailers the last 4ish years.

This may be the first one I legit pass on, or just wait till late season when it's dirt cheap if we even get one

This is the first year they really worked on small details. Not to mention the game looks incredible on PS5 in 4k

What small details and how do you know it to be true?

RE: Why do people glitch the game

Well, we really need a sociological study to maybe answer this but, disregarding the "how" and the "why" we can keep it simple and say: people have become narcissistic piles of dung and video game makers are trying to produce digital heroin to manipulate these said people.

On Veteran, I steam roll through the first 8 or 9 games and then all of a sudden I hit every thing right to a fielder. I square everything up but get nothing but maybe a walk for 3 to 5 innings!

Then the cpu wins one of two ways. They pull an outside-off-the-plate pitch for a homerun or they inside-out it for the bloop that lands in the outfield between 3 fielders and their runner on 2nd knows absolutely it's going to fall and is half way down the third base line before the ball hits the ground.

I've done this 5 or 6 times now. It's pathetic.

For context, I play offline on Legend and my DD team is stacked just as much as my opponents in Mini Seasons. I, in no way, feel challenged by this mode on Veteran.

Does this one loss ruin everything? No, but I want the XP and I don't want to feel the game is psychologically trying to manipulate me into buying something.

GTFOOH, SDS. Stop the skewing! Trying to be like EA will only earn you a place next to them in Hell.

With this release and not listening to the community at all I think they might be EA at this point.

What is it specifically about this release?

Less content, hitting is worse than what last year was (the worst year for hitting before this year) and they say the gameplay team says the game is playing as intended, which has pissed alot of us off because it's a brush off.

I guess if they intended it to be a video game version of a psy-op, they're not lying.

    Hmm... maybe psy-op isn't the right word, but it's definitely a mind-F.

RE: Dear SDS, here are the current issues with Stadium Creator that need fixed.

This is my first year on New Gen and my first year with Stadium Creator, and WOW was I disappointed.

I was looking forward to maybe creating a few Spring Training Stadiums to make Spring Training in Franchise a little more interesting, but it's so limited I don't know if it's worth the time. And what's more? the few structures they do have don't fit together properly. It's good for nothing unless you want to be a goof-ball.

Has anyone noticed Pinpoint pitching seems to be OP when playing against the CPU? I play franchise with the Angels and through 12 games 4 of my 5 starting pitchers have a sub 1 era and all but 1 of my relievers have a 0 era. I pitch on legend difficulty using pinpoint pitching. Unsure if I’ve just got it locked down or it’s the game that’s broken? Last year it was challenging on legend but this year seems super easy.

Which game style do you use? Competitive/Simulation/Casual

IDK about this one. Maybe as an option yes, but I want the broadcast from 'my" teams' perspective. I get what you're saying as far as diversity, but then perspective is lost and if I'm making my own hi-lite reels it won't have that angle.
