I'm just curious what you all are doing this year.

I've been playing since 20, but almost always DD. Now, I'm playing Franchise in 24 and I play all of the games, including the AAA and AA affiliates. I'm really enjoying the mode and I've found that while all my games were on Rookie or Vet in DD, I play on All-Star (batting)/HOF (pitching) in Franchise to keep the games reasonable. They're mostly 11-8 shootouts (can go either way), but at least they're not all 20-0.

I'll probably get a PS5 this fall if FIFA drops the PS4, too, but for now I'm glad i was introduced to a mode that I never really tried before.

Tell that to the people in here who've been "threatening" to quit since 2018. Every year is the last one they're buying....and every year they cant wait til the new one comes out.

Maybe you're right. If Sony was as confident as you they probably would have made the change already. I guess we'll find out for sure in 4 months or so. My bet is that PS4 will still be supported.

Really? How many more people with PS5s will buy the game if they do? I say 1000, tops. Compare that to the lost revenue from PS4 and Switch and there's just no way they do that.

You think people would just never play the game again and stay on PS4 forever? Doubtful. Sure they'd lose the casual fan...the "it was free this month on PS+ and i know the baseball season is over but where should i start" crowd but most fans of baseball and most gamers in general would make the jump.

Maybe you're right. If you really believe that this game would drive console sales it might make sense. But me? I only play 2 games, this and FIFA, and I'm not buying a new console. I'll be just fine playing Franchise and RTTS on my PS4 with the game I own now. I'll bet I'm not alone.

For every 1 person thats done buying consoles and insists on playing a PS4 for all eternity, there are are probably 100 who would say "Well...i only play this and (insert other game here) and both companies are moving to PS5 only. Looks like i need to save for a PS5"

Not many people are gonna quit gaming for good if their game of choice goes current gen only.

You don't have to quit gaming, you only have to quit Diamond Dynasty. That's an easier choice, especially after this year.

Regardless, Seasons with expiring cards are terrible. Starting over (again) at this point is ridiculous. Hopefully next year they go back to "Innings", which naturally supports a power creep.

Never played the innings format but I've heard a lot of it and id like to try it as well.

I did. People just complained about other things.

They complained that it took to long to get 99s.

I remember that. I just can't figure out why. In FIFA, we don't start getting 99s until we're 8-9 months into the game cycle and that's probably the most profitable game in the world. So why did SDS feel the need to change (presumably to boost the bottom line) here? I didn't play the game before 20, so maybe history has something to do with it, but I just can't figure it out.

SDS probably wishes that they could.

I don't think that's what OP meant. Previous years we got attribute updates every 2 weeks. This year started with 3 weeks. Now we're at 5 weeks. SDS is slipping fast. Now I know it's likely due to the layoffs but it's still sad to see.

To be fair, there would probably be a few more in the club if someone had let Aaron, Musial, and maybe even Jeter manage the team and write their names on the lineup card every day, even when they didnt deserve to be there.

I envy your patience. I try to do that to an extent (19 teams done) but when I just need a common or bronze or two to finish a team, i just can't resist buying it. Well done, sir.

It was because he did it in his first 16 games of the season, not the team's games through June.

Congratulations. I just got Rollins last week. Mantle worries me though. I thought 2nd Half Heroes was the collection to avoid. I'm a long way off

I don't know how many gamers that corresponds to, but it's still only half the equation. Where are the incremental sales on the PS5 coming from? How many fans of baseball games out there are not currently buying The Show, and waiting for it to be a current gen exclusive? Fewer than the folks playing on PS4, I'd guess.

But maybe I'm wrong. That's ok, too. I'm fine with playing forever programs and Franchise on the games I've got. Especially after this year.

There are currently twice as many PS4s as PS5s, and more than twice as many XBox Ones as XBox X/Ss. There's no way you throw away 2/3rds of your potential audience for a niche game. And more than that, if the Switch can't run it. So, take this with a grain of salt because I play offline on Rookie or Vet, but I stink, so all cards don't work for me.

I have lousy plate discipline and PCI control (I can basically move it all the way up or down, that's it) so I look for bad ball hitters. Alfonso Soriano and Nellie Cruz cards always work for me. I'll use a guy for half a miniseason or so and if I've golfed or tomahawked a couple of home runs with him, I like him. So, maybe 20-30 ABs?

Or, it's all in my head. But as Crash Davis said, if you think you're pitching well because you breathe through your eyelids or wear women's underwear, then you are.
