Storylines: Derek Jerek - Feature Premiere

Uh huh. Idc about moments . Are sets removed vito?

Genuinely don’t understand why they are going all in on moments did the majority of the player base actually want this?
Well, There was quite a lot of praise for the Negro League storylines last year so maybe that.
My thought, they just needed to justify the money the spent to get Jeter in the game.
-
Ideas for future Storylines:
I’m as big a DD-head as they come, but it might be fun to integrate a couple other modes into Storylines. Examples might be including a Home Run derby mode if that particular player participated (a ‘Griffey hitting the Warehouse’ mission). Another idea might be to track a players progress up the minors and award RTTS rewards for progress.

@Dolenz just seems like it’s not worth the effort gameplay is what matters and seems pretty clear it will be the same

I fell asleep during the stream. Yawn.

MLB the Show 24: The Yankee edition.
-
BERNIE!!!
-
I thought the storylines were moderately cool, but if this is the best of what we’re getting in this year’s game, it’s going to be dead on arrival. I hope they are leaving the best for last. 2 featured premiers entirely on storylines is a massive disappointment.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I simply answered why they might have doubled down on storylines.
In my opinion, unless you are a Yankees fan, there was very little to get excited for in this feature premiere. If Jeter is the only one we are getting then that is a shame. I honestly muted the stream about half way through so I don't know if anything else was said.

Isn't it essentially that every year?

Hey, that's not fair. It could be the Dodgers edition instead. Either way, it's B.S. Now that Ohtani is there, I'm only expecting 8 Trout cards and no other Angels over 90.

You guys are losing me. I've already preordered and now I'm rethinking it after the Sets/Seasons debacle and now an already Yankee heavy game getting more Yankees. I keep defending you. Your defendability is wearing. How about fixing RTTS or working on more Royals, As, or one of the other twenty teams that are underrepresented.
The NBL storylines was successful because it was a story that needs to be told. I think Jeter was a class act on the ballfield, but we know his story. Heck, there are probably a couple dozen documentaries on them. Tell us something we're not being told by every streaming service there is. Tell me about Cool Papa Bell or Josh Gibson. I don't know enough about Sandy Kofax. Yaz was known as a tremendous LF, why?

5 percent of the player base completed the storyline in the game. Now they are going all in on a mode that wasn’t that important to people.
-
Nobody has to play it … I will and I like it. Storymodes built a nice foundation for things to come … I think Jeter is a good one to start. Try to see it from this side … maybe
-
Just rewatched some … a little feedback:
- I liked the format from last night, but it was probably twice as long as it could have been. Too many redundancies … and overall: a little boring
- Kingdome is awesome. Please make it play better than usual pro parks
- Like the Yankees or not, but Bernie, Andi and Paul are awesome. You could also do some nice Reds cards with Paul (as well as Astros Pettite ones) … They were part of an era and some pretty household names. I like that they are included
- Jeets is back. That should be mentioned … You could do that more often (last year you had e.g. Durham as a one-year-wonder, which sucks)

Hate to say it because I think their addition to this series is awesome and long overdue, but most people likely didn't complete the Negro Leagues storylines because they simply don't know/care about any of the players. The other factor as to why so many skipped on it relates to the whole structure of the game being flipped on its head last year. Hard to entice people to grind for a bunch of largely unknown 90 overalls when you had 99s available day one.
Not saying that 5% will jump to 95%. However, more casuals will absolutely check this mode out due to the relevance of Derek Jeter. They are more familiar with him and most have at least some memories of actually watching him play. I agree though that ultimately the success of Storylines will come down to how Diamond Dynasty content is rolled out. If they go back to the "power creep" approach then you can justify the kind of cards we received in the Negro Leagues mode last season. However, if guys like Trout and Ohtani have 99s available at launch again, then nobody is going to care about anything less.

If I gotta Kick a ball to the first baseman w/ Paul O'Neill...I quit.

I hope they make a few very minor and simple adjustments that would stand to make these more palatable. I’m not talking about the writing either because it’s solid. What I’m talking about is not having to go thru the same sequences each and every time that you fail a moment and have to replay it.
If there was anything that made me exit these great moments prematurely it was that it was sooo sluggish when trying to restart a moment. Things like popping out during your last AB and having to wait while the RF tries to get the tagging runner and so on especially on the ones where you only get a single AB in the first place. It adds about thirty seconds to the whole sequence by the time you wait for that then restart the moment and have to wait for the flyby animation of the player taking a knee in the OF before you can begin.
These things need to be fast paced so you can try and maintain a rythym and if you watch people’s tendencies people get bored quickly when they have to wait. Who hasn’t seen someone bunt dance while they wait for a pitch or bounce their pci all over the screen waiting for a pitch. Slow is painful and painful isn’t fun.
Also why can’t you exit the moment from ANY point once you know that you’ve lost instead of trying to time the precise moment the OF releases the ball to you can gain the precious nanoseconds that you can glean by this instead of having to wait. You should be able to restart a moment even if the balls still in the air if you so choose.
I don’t feel like that’s asking too much but I do feel it would make it much more digestible for us players especially when you’ve got ten minutes already invested in the moment

Thanks for the feedback.
We are experimenting with allowing the staff members who work on these features and modes to talk about it in depth and at their pace. We are still dialing things in, as we also don't just want to have a bullet list. It is a process, and we are still learning with this experiment. Also looking back at our old dev streams (like 17, 18, 19) we would spend just a long due to fumbling around trying to show something off. So we have always had long streams/episodes.

@beanball0571 Completing the Negro League Storylines was far from a grind. You could unlock every card in one session. It was easy. It was more about educating people about the stories I think. Because I could not believe what I was seeing and hearing going through some of those stories. I had to look things up to be sure that it was actually true. I thought it was fantastic!
