I do dread pitching moments. Started doing them first instead of last. Like getting them out of the way.

At least they finally fixed pitching moments so you no longer have to have take ABs with your pitcher when his spot in the order comes around.

    That was always maddening.

RE: Jorge Lopez fastest delivery in MLB The Show History

I think that is why Emmanuel Clase is the only P4 card I have. He has such a quick delivery which really helps speed along those Conquest grinds.

I may be wrong but how would he be any different then Robin Yount?

Derek Jeter being on the cover would actually sell copies of the game. Many.

Bias much? I highly doubt it. People who know this game will play it. The group of new players will will somewhat be similar to any other year.

You don't have to be biased to realize that Derek Jeter is a more recognizable face of baseball who will draw in casuals to check out the game if he is on the cover of the Collector's Edition.

That's not meant to disrespect Robin Yount at all.

Again, I wasn't disrespecting Derek Jeter. But I am surely challenging your claim how having Derek Jeter on the cover would lead to "many" more sales.

My original post is more about speculating whether Jeter might be the cover athlete for the Collector's Edition. I get that from a competitive online player's perspective he is not the sexiest option, but SDS isn't concerned about that because they know that group makes up such a small percent of the player base and is already hooked/not going anywhere no matter how dissatisfied they are with the gameplay. They are looking for new blood and throwing a legend like Jeter on the cover will bring more eyes to the franchise because of his mainstream status.

Jeter was a dominant face of the game during his playing days. He was on the cover of a bunch of videogames too during the N64/PS2 era. Even if someone isn't necessarily a Jeter or Yankees fan, it might just simply bring back some good memories playing a baseball videogame back in the day. Maybe someone who hasn't played one in a while sees Jeter on the cover and just for the sake of nostalgia checks it out because they had so many good times playing All-Star Baseball.

I played The Show religiously from 2006-09 then stopped altogether until my friend showed me a video of Giambi hitting a bomb in The Show which brought back all those Triple Play Baseball memories from the early 2000s. That was the first week of COVID lockdown. Bought a PS4 and The Show 20 soon after that and I've been hooked on this stupid game ever since. 🤣

    Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

RE: Andrew McCutchen is the “big” collection reward. L or W?

He could have the same exact attributes as a 99 Mantle/Griffey/Trout/Mays, but I just think people justify it to themselves that those iconic players are worth the investment of this kind of collection solely based on their perceived name value.

It will most definitely be an incredible card, but there will always be players that are more attracted to the name than the stats on the back. Nothing wrong with that either.

    RE: Miss the Old Programs

The grind for Monthly Awards was brutal this year. Totally understand having to put some time in to get these cards, but unless you "rented" them from the market to get the PXP needed for each it was so tedious especially on the hitting side.

They also needed to make the Monthly Legend attainable much earlier in the program. The card would be unveiled, but you had to wait almost a month before you were finally able to unlock it and by then there were other cards that were just as good which diminished its value.

RE: Why is the market going DOWN after collection?

I think a lot of people saw just how much was required for this collection and they're selling off cards instead.

Also, the 30 new AL/NL diamonds they dropped to help people with this collection lessened the value on a lot of those Legends/Flashbacks people have been investing in so they are offloading those as well.

I believe a Takashi collection to unlock two-way 99 Shohei is inevitable. We've already seen the artwork for it.

I really hope it's Posada for the Yankees. I've never played with a 99 overall of his and that card would never leave my lineup.

    RE: SDS has lost reality

You know what, if it means a superstar player like Ozzie becomes more usable then who cares? It's a fantasy mode in a fantasy game. If guys who have never even had an AB in the majors can have insane cards then it's hard to get mad about a juiced Ozzie who is a Hall of Famer.

What’s the most efficient and quickest way to level up affinity?

Mini seasons. Win the championship and you’d get 10 vouchers.

And do you have to play all those matches?

No just enough to be a top 4 seed. You do have to play the play offs and championship game.

Usually 14-16 win will guarantee a playoff spot. Overall you’re looking around 20 games played to get those vouchers.

To the guy who answered your question are you sure you get 10 vouchers?? That seems like a lot each voucher is 5k points. Where do you see it gives 10 vouchers per championship?

PA is correct on the breakdown. If you enter the TA MS season screen, they have all the missions posted on the bottom section, tracking number of items completed in each and the reward.

    Is this repeatable?

    RE: Cover Athletes

It was very cool for last year because they finally had the bulk of the cover athletes under contract with Mauer and Howard joining the game, but I'm not sure they need to bring it back for the new one just because they got one additional name in David Wright.

Very happy that all of these players are once again in the game though.

usually first year legends come in the game the swing is less great. Also can someone explain why they didn't have the sosa hop when he hit the no doubter in the trailer

    I noticed that too!!!

Sosa has arguably one of the most recognizable swings in baseball history. That hop is literally his trademark and will be what most people want to see when they play as him in the game. There is no way they don't fix that or maybe this was just taken from an earlier incomplete build. Remember, the delivery they gave Randy Johnson last year at launch was terrible, but they corrected it almost immediately to their credit so I wouldn't worry too much.

There is actually a video of his no doubt animation, complete with the hop and the little shuffle of the feet he did while rounding the bases.

Do you know where this video was posted? The only footage that I saw was the leaked commercial and recent Legends trailer.

92 Captain Jeter will probably be the reward for Collecting the LS Yankees.

It would be unprecedented to have the same player be both the Team Collect reward and the MLB Collect reward.

Not impossible, mind you. But so extremely unlikely as to doubt it.

Besides, the Yankees Collect reward should be higher than a 92. It should be up in the 94-95 range.

I also don't see them offering the same player as a team reward as well as the overall collection reward.

The Yankees won't have a ton of diamonds (only three most likely), but Judge will be one of the most rare and valuable cards in the entire game so it will be expensive nonetheless. I also expect their collection card to be in that 94-96 range because of him alone.

@p0pachery_MLBTS @T00MuchHam_XBL how was it a cash grab? I completed every collection and didn't have to buy any stubs?

Granted I had to grind my [censored] off; but if you played it correctly you could get to the rewards fast enough that if you sold your pick and waited until the end of the program you could just buy the remaining cards.

They reduced the number of cards collected through the program that the cards are connected to. You and I both didn't spend money to buy the cards, others certainly did. I don't need the full experience of the cash crab to recognize its there.

DD is a far better collection game compared to its competitors. That's doesn't mean it shouldn't be criticized. And with that, I'm excited for tomorrow's stream and setting up my team tomorrow night. Crossing my fingers for some good day 1 pulls.

Do you think Trout is still the big pull or is it Ohtani or Judge this year?

I think the pull probability rate is tied to the overall, but by how much is unknown. For example, the mathematical odds of pulling an 85-89 overall are probably the same, but once you cross that 90+ threshold that percentage is decreased obviously making those cards rarer pulls. Not sure if 95+ is an even more elusive tier than 90-94 as that would be a factor in making Ohtani/Judge more sought after than Trout.

It was a longer grind for sure, but I hope they go back to the individual team structure (2020) as opposed to it being condensed into divisions (2021). The more available offline content the better and that older format always ensured you had something to work on.
