With only a few days left in the month here are the rankings in some major Categories (hitters only)

    WAR

    1. Arenado - 2.1
    2. Goldschmidt - 1.9
    3. McNeil - 1.8
    4. Bregman - 1.8
    5. Betts - 1.7

    wRC+

    1. Goldschmidt - 237
    2. Arenado - 223
    3. Bregman - 219
    4. Lowe - 213
    5. Judge - 201

    AVG

    1. McNeil - .408
    2. Lowe - .392
    3. Goldschmidt - .379
    4. Bregman - .372
    5. Arenado - .371

    SLG

    1. Goldschmidt - .759
    2. Arenado - .753
    3. Bregman - .686
    4. Betts - .649
    5. Lowe - .639

    HRs

    1. Goldschmidt - 9
    2. Arenado - 8
    3. Suarez - 7
    4. Betts - 7
    5. Judge - 7
    6. Walker - 7
    7. Muncy - 7
    8. Tellez - 7

    RBIs

    1. Goldschmidt - 27
    2. Arenado - 24
    3. Ramirez - 22
    4. Bregman - 20
    5. Walker - 20 (there are 6 others with 20)

I am not sure what to think. Obviously Goldschmidt an Arenado are at the top of the list but we know one of them will be getting the Cardinals Finest. My thinking is that Goldschmidt would be ignored and given the finest (and since he has a 97 all star card) and Arenado has the better shot (if either actually get a card).

I think Bregman, Lowe and McNeil are all almost sure bets for at least a henchman card unless SDS already has other plans for them. Maybe even a lightning if both Cardinals get passed over.

Of course this could also be the month that they give it to a pitcher.

Probably whichever name they pick out of a hat.

Yes. He's my favorite Met, and hasn't had a decent justified card all season.

I just hope it’s someone good since the last one we got was solid in Austin Riley.

I don't feel like looking at all the stats but the top starting pitchers by WAR are

    1. Degrom
    2. Gallen
    3. Bieber
    4. Gausman
    5. Verlander
    6. Kirby
    7. Nola
    8. Rasmussen
    9. Strider
    10. Springs

Was really disappointed we didn’t get a Pujols Topps Now card after his last three weeks. Like a 98 or something. It’s his last year, the more Pujols Cards the better.

Edward Cabrera hasn’t given up a run all month and only allowed like 8 hits I think.

I would take a better Mookie. Arenado is a no because that would give us 3 3b from the promo. Same with Bregman. Goldy just got an AS card and let's be honest this was a down month for him. Lol.

Prior to today I don't think he had enough innings pitched to be considered qualified so he did not appear in my query on Fangraphs.

That said, he gave up 6 runs today in only 5.2 innings, walking three, hitting a batter and giving up two home runs. Still a very good month but that kind of tarnished it a little.

I’m going to guess Goldy with Arenado getting the finest, think McNeil, Lowe, Bregman, and Suarez get cards. I’ll guess Gallen and Strider for SP. If not Goldshmidt, I’ll guess Lowe for lightning

Bregman hit a solo shot today, also had 2 walks. I hope he gets a henchman card that has decent attributes against rhp

Man, Degrom has had an insane month of August. 29 IP, 14H, 2 BB, 46 K's, 0.54 WHIP. With Madden releasing, and SDS maybe wanting to make a big splash to get players back to grind, Degrom would be a perfect 99 Lightning card.

I agree, those Ks alone make him eligible. If it wasn't for his one loss... Don't forget that 2.15 ERA. 102 MPH FB. 46:2 Strikeout to walk ratio! Wow! I'm not a Mets fan, but I sure am a deGrom fan.

If they are going to pick a pitcher it better be a big name and Degrom would fill that role. I already have a stacked rotation of Randy, Nolan, Grayson, Pedro and Wood but I would make room for a Degrom card.

I vote deGrom. I think there'd be a full-blown meltdown if it was another 1B or 3B, even if they're deserving.

I think we should be pretty close to seeing Judge as POTM. He was the MLB's AL POTM for May and July, and we haven't seen a Monthly Awards card for him yet this year. I don't think it will be Pujols; they are probably saving him for either a collection or something else. Either way, I think they will wait until he hits 700 to issue something.

But, to thwart all of that, they may be waiting to see if Judge breaks the HR record before releasing something.

As much as I hope he makes it to 700 it is still not likely. But you are right that SDS will probably wait until at least the end of the season just in case he does.
