Lol reminds me of my American Bulldog the vet chose to put down for me 2.5 years ago. Probably would have punched the vet in the face if it wasn’t a 50-60 year old woman akin to the sloppy joe lady in Billy Madison.
He always had a ball in his mouth and was asking me to play fetch all day every day.

I just had to say goodbye to my best buddy — a little pug named Nestor. I don’t know for sure how old he was, but I adopted him from DFW Pug Rescue back in June 2013. The rescue organization said they had his vet records showing he was 9 years old at that time. Who knows if that’s accurate, but I guess he was anywhere from about 16 to as old as 18.
Nestor has been my copilot through a lot over the last decade. He was the definition of a “velcro pug,” meaning he was never more than a few feet away from me when I was home. I decided to make this post because I needed a distraction and thought about firing up the PS4. But I don’t know if I can. Nestor has been there with me for probably 99% of my MLB:TS gaming over the years. He was there to listen to me complain about the line outs in 19, the defense in 20, the pitching in 21, and the game in 22. Playing this game and hanging out with my dude have gone hand-in-hand for years. The Show without my buddy is going to be a very lonely game.
I would like to encourage everyone to give a little extra hug to the unsung heroes who hang with us through our gaming. Whether it’s a dog or a cat or a lizard that poops all over you all the time, our animal allies are always there to support us. If you have a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket, please consider donating to a local shelter or rescue organization.
Very sorry for your loss. I have my own The Show "hitting coach", a 1 year old Cavalier named Coco.
I literally never play a game without her chilling on my lap. She's the main reason I refuse to get a monitor! Lol.

I’m so sorry to hear about Franklin
dogs are the very best. One time a vet told me that the last gift we give our pets is a peaceful and pain-free goodbye. That has always stuck with me. It doesn’t really make it any easier in the moment. But I think it helps eventually. -

again sorry, My brother had a decent size Schnauzer for about 10 years. Recently passed suddenly. I never seen any so depressed over a pet. She was his kid, went every where together. When you walked in the house you had to greet her or she would continue to bark. She was an awesome dog.

Sorry man it's a terrible part of life. Dogs are the best companion. They are always happy to see you no matter what. They don't live long enough. So loyal. Give it time and go rescue another little dude that needs a good home but never forget your pug.

Secondly, https://www.lancemccullersfoundation.org/ is a GREAT way to make a difference and have it tied to baseball. I live in NJ but happily sport t-shirts and a dog leash for my Shih Tzu from this non-profit.
Lance will usually have a program where you can pledge X dollars per strikeout and have a donation hit monthly. It's a great thing and I enjoy knowing that it doesn't get more direct to cause considering how far away I live.

Sorry for your loss, bro.
I had to put down my bestest dude not too long ago. Rufus would stay with me until I went to bed every night. He, too, was a velcro fella. I have one weekend a month where I have to update servers, patch servers, configs, blah blah, and don't get done till around 4 AM (I do this tonight also, ugh), and my pal Rufus would be right there with me until I was done and ready for bed.
We have rescued a Pit Dalmation mix since then (PitMation is the slang) and named him Hank. He's a good dude as well. I won't forget Rufus, but glad to have Hank around now to go along with my 13 yr old Chihuahua appropriately named Bruiser - basically because he pounds out some sleep about all day.

I’m so sorry to hear that but thanks for giving him a great life for so many years. The pain of losing dogs in my teens is what kept me from getting another one for many, many years, but a few months ago we adopted a stubby-legged bundle of love and trouble from a nearby shelter. I know there’s another Nestor out there in need who can’t wait for what you have to offer them.

Thank you all for the kind words of support and understanding. I have always had a soft spot for the senior dogs who get overlooked due to their age. So over the last eleven years, I have adopted seven little ones (5 pugs, one dachshund, and of course, one mini schnauzer, hence my username). Some of them I only had the privilege to have for a year or two, but Nestor has been with me for longer than any other dog. It never gets easier, but each time I think I understand it a little better.
If DFW Pug Rescue was correct and he really did live to be nearly 18, I can’t be sad for him. He wasn’t cheated out of any time on earth, and he has been unbelievably spoiled over the years. So he had a great life, and I can only be sad for me.
I volunteer with the pug rescue organization as often as possible, so I am fostering new intakes pretty frequently. When the time is right, I will be ready to give a good home to another dog. And hopefully he or she will love playing MLB:TS as much as Nestor and I did.

Just out of curiosity; do you still have his water dish/bowl?
If you do and it is deep enough get some dirt and an indoor houseplant.
Place the plant in the dirt in the dish and wrap his collar around the bowl.
Nice little keep sake.
And by houseplant; I mean something that you can get at a nursery! Lol
