I know this is a bit off topic but I’ll tie it back in to the game by the end.

I just had to say goodbye to my best buddy — a little pug named Nestor. I don’t know for sure how old he was, but I adopted him from DFW Pug Rescue back in June 2013. The rescue organization said they had his vet records showing he was 9 years old at that time. Who knows if that’s accurate, but I guess he was anywhere from about 16 to as old as 18.

Nestor has been my copilot through a lot over the last decade. He was the definition of a “velcro pug,” meaning he was never more than a few feet away from me when I was home. I decided to make this post because I needed a distraction and thought about firing up the PS4. But I don’t know if I can. Nestor has been there with me for probably 99% of my MLB:TS gaming over the years. He was there to listen to me complain about the line outs in 19, the defense in 20, the pitching in 21, and the game in 22. Playing this game and hanging out with my dude have gone hand-in-hand for years. The Show without my buddy is going to be a very lonely game.

I would like to encourage everyone to give a little extra hug to the unsung heroes who hang with us through our gaming. Whether it’s a dog or a cat or a lizard that poops all over you all the time, our animal allies are always there to support us. If you have a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket, please consider donating to a local shelter or rescue organization.

I need both my hitting coach and pitching coach with me whenever I play. Goodest coaches. Sorry for your loss my friend, He's still watching you play. Just on a different couch.

Condolences man, I’ve gone through it twice and it’s a heartbreaker.

When you’re ready, rescue another one

This is a great post. I'm a big supporter of shelters and rescue as well. Our current dog is a rescue we've had for almost 6 years now. I always encourage my family to donate to the local dog shelter in my name in lieu of gifts. Sorry for your loss.

@doobiebross66-72 speaks the truth. It's hard to lose a faithful furry friend. I've got two that I found when they were pups and they are now readily available to sit on my lap or beg for tummies right when I'm staging a comeback.

When you're ready, Nestor would like you to rescue his successor.

Condolences brother. My wife and I just rescued a pup about 7 months ago and I can't even begin to comprehend being without her....10 years is a lifetime.

Thank you all for the kind words of support and understanding. I have always had a soft spot for the senior dogs who get overlooked due to their age. So over the last eleven years, I have adopted seven little ones (5 pugs, one dachshund, and of course, one mini schnauzer, hence my username). Some of them I only had the privilege to have for a year or two, but Nestor has been with me for longer than any other dog. It never gets easier, but each time I think I understand it a little better.

If DFW Pug Rescue was correct and he really did live to be nearly 18, I can’t be sad for him. He wasn’t cheated out of any time on earth, and he has been unbelievably spoiled over the years. So he had a great life, and I can only be sad for me.

I volunteer with the pug rescue organization as often as possible, so I am fostering new intakes pretty frequently. When the time is right, I will be ready to give a good home to another dog. And hopefully he or she will love playing MLB:TS as much as Nestor and I did.

Thank you all again. I appreciate it very much.

I don't have anything to say that will make you feel better, I'm sorry, losing a pet is losing a family member and it absolutely sucks. , My beagle always sleeps under my desk while I'm on MLBTS and I could not imagine life without him.

One of my beagles I've had since the day she was born(12 years ago), and the other I rescued 5 years ago:)

Lol reminds me of my American Bulldog the vet chose to put down for me 2.5 years ago. Probably would have punched the vet in the face if it wasn’t a 50-60 year old woman akin to the sloppy joe lady in Billy Madison.

He always had a ball in his mouth and was asking me to play fetch all day every day.

    Those pics are great haha.
