I suspect they'll keep creating new seasons of RS and BR and events because it sounds like MLB 22 appears to be in a bit of a delay. You'll have time.
But if you want the Billy Wagner experience, you can get that right now for free. Go to your bullpen, and replace one reliever. Then, you will be able to select a new reliever. Using the filters, find a common that is no higher than 62 rating, and make sure he's a lefty. Now, pretend he's Billy Wagner, and bring him out online. You will give up 7 homers in a row, just like if you had the real Billy Wagner card!

Yo this is the MLB the show forum. They didn’t install the Taco Bell drive thru yet. So either move your car or we are going to tow.
This is like a low rent version of "sir, this is a Wendy's"
I just got done playing an Event game against a dude with a World Series icon and a 12-0 banner. His leadoff hitter was Mookie Betts, and I got a little glimpse of his numbers with him. He was hitting .225 with Betts.
I immediately knew I was up against a monster, cause my own batting average with Betts is .161, and I've used him enough to get him to P4.
I don't think I've ever played anyone that was hitting well with Betts. Anyone with decent numbers with Betts has at least 6 other players on their team with even better numbers, IMO.
So we can conclude that this Betts card can't hit, which isn't a surprise, cause no Betts card has ever been very good. But why?
2 Part Theory:
Betts is a RHH and Degrom and Cabrera are both RHP. Relevant particularly for this event, but also overall. In my case, five out of six online at bats have been against RHP, and this is a large sample size. So that's tuff. But Marcus Semien is also a RHH, so there must be more, and that's this:
Betts is classified as an "extreme pull" hitter. Have you ever tried to pull a ball in this game? Any swing even a millimeter on the early side of perfect, on any ball down the middle or anywhere inside, high or low, will be pulled foul. Perfect/perfect foul balls (always on the pull side) are a thing in this game. This results in all of Betts' best contact simply sailing harmlessly foul on the pull side.
Conclusion: Betts is a liability at the plate. If you can hit with Betts and have good stats with him, I might believe you, but first show me your stats with Semien. I guarantee you Betts is doing worse. The conclusion is, avoid pull hitters.
you can't judge a card based on how it does in moments, folks.
It's true, the rubber banding in this game is so obvious, I haven't even seen anyone from SDS bother to deny it anymore. I don't like it. But when you pay careful attention, you realize that the pitcher confidence meter is how this whole game operates. I don't think this game would even work if it was just a neutral thing, like the role of the chess board in chess. It wouldn't even work I don't think, unless they went XCOM, and actually let it be RNG. Perfect/perfect? You get a 90% hitchance, and it's actually 90%, regardless of gamestate. Late/Ok? You get a 15% hit chance, and it's actually 15%, regardless of gamestate. Don't even get your PCI on a pitch? You get a 0% hit chance, a swing and a miss, 100% of the time. And so on.
Such a game would be so awesome. But so would living the life of Leonardo Dicaprio. Odds of either happening are about even, at 0.0%.
I agree with you. And don't call me a nerd, hear me out. The state of gaming will not change. Games are sold to children and children these days expect a trophy and a ceremony just for showing up. It'll only get worse.
I did find the solution, and this is where you need to not call me a nerd. Chess. That's right, good old fashioned chess. Impossible to fill with DDA, and therefore EA and SDS don't make it. But that's the point.
I'm just learning but I'll smoke you with my Sicillian Defense. But if it goes south, at least I'll know that's cause you beat me, not cause the game had me scheduled for a loss there.
When will SDS incorporate the concept of relics into their cards? It might already be too late now that Fanatics thinks that all baseball card collectors are just gonna put their money into Fanatics cheap trash. But in real life baseball cards, relic cards are a big deal. I personally own a Hank Aaron gold refractor Topps Finest, numbered to 24, that is worth about $5K (there is a green relic on ebay right now for 4K and mine is better). It has a real sliver of his real actual game used bat incorporated into the card (as well as a hand signed auto).
Other collectable cards have pieces of jerseys in them. SDS should get into that, again, before Fanatics takes over and turns baseball cards into trash collecting.
Johnny Bench, in real life, was probably the best catcher of all time. But in the game, he's demonstrably worse than Jonah Heim. Anyone that uses Johnny Bench, no joke, I feel a degree of sympathy towards. Poor guy doesn't have the time to try out all the different options, so he goes by ratings and thinks he has a good card. He doesn't know. He doesn't know
I got him right quick. Put him into a ranked game and right away he comes to bat in the 1st with 2 on, 2 out. His very first pitch an inside cutter and I swing and FLY AWAY BASEBALL!!!!!! No doubter to right center. I'd tell ya the distance but unfortunately my opponent's connection gave out while the ball was still in the air. That's a walk-off in the first by Reds legend Griffey Jr.
Since then, a few games, a few bombs here, a few more there.... He's on a tear out there! A true card to fear if you're pitching to it. Cant recommend enough. 4 out of 4 stars, would grind again.
@texas10pt_psn said in And the New Player Program is....:
Monte Irvin???? Nice guy....helped Mays in his rookie year adjust to the big leagues.......Where is McCovey?.....you know the HOFer???????
The most fun I ever had in this game was McCovey at San Fran, hitting dingers into the cove, people rage quitting before it could land.
I cant think of the name of that cove, but if it was up to me, I would name it after Willie.
I expect it to be Jose Altuve. From prior seasons predicting these things, I found that wrc+ correlates best to POTM selections - better than WAR. And Altuve last time I checked was 3rd in the month in wrc+. Then you factor in positional considerations (1B was last month) and there you have it.

The economic state of baseball is a travesty, I agree. I have a bunch of family in Kansas City and they barely even follow the sport cause they know if they get a good player (like Witt), he'll just bounce to LA.
remember the first year SDS had the rights to Ohtani and they made him like 15 speed? Then they found out he's really fast and had to release new cards. lulz. i member.

There will NOT be a 99 speed card released of him. But if sds was smart, they would have made him 99 speed to begin with. Fastest runner in MLB according to physics is unplayably slow according to SDS. 88 speed, no. This is false. He might have the fastest sprint speed in one particular play but he is certainly not the fastest by averages player in baseball. That would be Trae Turner and Byron Buxton who go back and forth as the fastest by average over the past few seasons. I mean Ronald Acuna jr had a sprint speed in one at bat that exceeded 31 feet per second just last week but he certainly isn’t that fast routinely which both Turner and Buxton are. What are you talking about? Pure top speed is pure top speed. This is his first year anyways, so who cares about average fastest player the last two years? They are talking about the stat that shows what every players top speed was for the year (which can be accomplished once or accomplished multiple times) The stat that matters is the stat that averages every single time they sprinted which would encompass plays where they are trying to beat out a play whether it be multiple bases or home to first. Sprinting 32 feet per second one time doesn’t mean they can do that every time. Trae Turner and Byron Buxton are the only players in Major League Baseball that average over 31 feet per second on average. There is a huge difference between the two.

geez man you sound dumb. how fast you can run is how fast you can run. it isn't variable. if you got speed, you got speed. if you don't, you don't. I'm in no hall of fames anywhere but I ran track in high school. Fast runners are fast runners, there's not a lot of variability in it. Our record holders didn't just have a good day at the track, bro.

88 speed in unplayable?
yes it is if you want to steal a base. come on now, junior.
This game is riddled with DDA
Its so they can keep the game scripted. Back in 16, you had full control of your runners. They went to war over that.
P5ing cards quick in this game is kinda like speedrunning, but a version of speedrunning that requires no skill at all.
I'm up to P9 in lying in bed watching youtube lets goooooo
