Refuses to throw the high sinker out of respect for the game of baseball? I just can't do it, and people who abuse it are soft like bread.

This used to be me. I still try to limit them, but unfortunately it’s tough to compete on HOF difficulty without abusing them.

I like to use it sparingly, usually as a silver bullet to get out of tough situations. It can be quite effective to not throw it high all game long until you really need a K and then use it.

More often I throw it at the inside corner to same sided hitters. Once they start looking for that they get the straight fastball and pop it up

    Two instances.

1- The pitcher has no FB. (Whitley comes to mind)

2- The CPU decided it's going high.

I agree with you for the sanctity of the game, but more importantly, the physics are just not there for it to be possible to throw a true sinker "high". It should only be known as 2-Seamer, then. Sinkers should be capped middle down in the game if it were a true simulation because of the force, arm angle, and trajectory required to throw it to begin with.

Zack Greinke should be out of the league. Here's location by pitch type in 2019. Sinker is about 1/4 down the page.

Never thrown one on purpose, but the lack of pitcher control has thrown a few for me.

Great article; though I don't think I agree that it says it's not possible to throw the sinker high, especially as it seems to get at that the movement is more along the bat, and the downward trajectory as compared to a 4-Seam is due to RPM & direction of spin (really why I think it is sometimes used interchangeably with a 2-Seamer).

This article has a chart of Sinkers between 2010 and 2016, and most are middle-low, though it's not like the pitch can't be thrown high.
    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/why-the-front-door-sinker-isnt-a-trend-yet/

In the end, maybe it would help if they make it so a Sinker has considerably less break when thrown high, similar to a backdoor slider having less break than one that ends inside. Not sure if it's accurate though.

I have the API turned on in the settings, I've thrown it when the pitcher called for it which may have been 4 times in the last decade, how is a high sinker disrespectful to baseball?
