@Sarge1387_PSN If casuals are going to impulse buy, why would you cater to them? That makes zero sense. Those people come and go. A smart business caters to the people who spend money on their product year in and year out. The people playing this game most of the year. More content doesn’t hurt casuals. Less content drives their most loyal customers away.
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS Semantics. There’s just no good argument for less content.

@Ericulous1_XBL 100%Agreed with everyone you said. I've now been pretty much off of 26 now for over 3 weeks other than market stuff. I actually went back to The Show 22, since I am offline only) and started playing that again, so that I can use my created player from RTTS in DD. It also has the advantage of using Sounds of the Show, which is super cool. And a ton of great rosters to download for Franchise. And no BOTS on the market! 23 is also really good for this as well now. 24, 25 and 26 have all went downhill in my opinion. Its sad to see for what was once the greatest game every (played since 2015). Hopefully one day, it will get back to that. Until then, I'll likely just wait until after the All Star Break to play a lot on 26 again. By then, hopefully it will be better.
23 feels the best gameplay wise of the ones that still have servers running, has the best retrospective content and the most cards to play with even if a good chunk of them are no longer obtainable. I probably spent 25% of my Show time in 23 last year. 22 if I recall is lacking TA.

Diablo 4’s latest expansion drops in a few hours and I couldn’t be more thankful

Just finished my I-don't-know-"th" time through WBC mini-seasons. TA's are all done through the first level of Jolts (the rest are all 100 TB grinds). Every offline program is done. I'm around halfway to 500k and have no desire to keep repeating the existing content. "CoNtEnT iSnT tHe PrObLeM" folks, how did you get to the 500k without mind-numbing repeated content? I'm pretty much heading over to other games at this point. Will I return on 5/1 to finish that content in 2 hours? Not sure, but this is by far the earliest in the history of MLB the Show I've felt the "I'm done with the game" feeling.
-
That WBC content was fire to start the year which was promising but you are correct not a whole lot to do right now. I am not sure why people were so against multiple TA's. They gave tons of cards and made you get creative with adding players to you lineup you would not normally use. I would rather grind for those cards and never saw them a roadblock to collections. If anything they helped lower collection cost from a stubs point of view. Yes there is the big TA path. But that is a long term grind that requires content to get all of that PXP. Constant mini season play throughs are going to make this game feel very boring, very fast. It already feels stale. We need more conquests (that are repeatable with sellable rewards or packs), more DQ even if not many like it and more complete programs. Egg Hunt and St. Pats programs seemed half baked. Programs with no collection cards? Are you kidding. The mexico series is cool but the whole program took maybe 3 hours between the conquest and the event to get 4 mid cards. Even the muliplayer reward path and past events seem quick to progresss through, and I say that as someone who prefers offline. I know SDS banks on the fact that they are the only MLB game but there are hundreds of non MLB video games available to play.

You make it appeal to them because in a month or two, they'll be gone- but their $ remains. Capitalize on their FOMO, that's all. Again, from a business standpoint it makes sense. And like Teak said, "Casual" might not be the right term here.
They won't really cater to "regulars" because they know we'll get it no matter what...it's really the only game in town. For now.
-
The issue is that everything they release can be completed by a halfway-decent player in a few hours. The inning xp path is a desert full of very few rewards. The multiplayer and events paths - again, just play a couple decent games where you bat well (on all star difficulty where that kinda happens all the time), and you're all done.
But, if you fix this issue, a bunch of people will instantly complain that they dont have time to do an actual grind.

this is the problem last year each cornerstone program had a possible xp gain of 10K XP, The classicmode miniseason had a total of 20K pxp for the win mile stones 5-12-18-23-28 and a repeatable gotal of 5K Xp for each championship. So that is 20K fewer for cornerstone programs and no repeatable XP for the miniseason. For instance I have won the wbc miniseason 50(atleast) times so even for the seven game miniseason if they had a repeatable reward of 500XP that would be a total of 25K XP. And quite honestly I've probobly won it alot more than 50 times. so that is leaving 45K XP on the table. This is what is making offline players completely frustrated. please either triple the xp for the one cornerstone you seem to release per inning program or go back to three per program and restore the fair goals to miniseasons with a repeatable xp reward. Also any conquest that has as a reward that is unsellable cards is not really repeatable, it's not worth the time required to play unless you give a repeatable xp goal or sellable cards like the draft map or the number 3 map last year.

@TheGoaler_PSN Double XP won't help you (or anyone else without a ton of time to play the game) get the bosses, sadly.
-
It surprises me how rarely I've seen Randy or Babe on anyone's team. Yeah, 500k is a lot to get for the boss, but I play way less than most dedicated players, and Im only a small amount away.
People are acting like its some kind of insurmountable hill to get the bosses in this inning path - and that's probably why SDS doesn't like putting longer grinds in the game. This is not even that tough of a grind, but look at how many people are whining that its so impossible. This is why all grinds and programs are baby size now, TA isn't really a thing, etc - content for the instant gratification generation
-
um, what? the reason people in here are complaining about being able to get to 500k XP is because all these surrounding programs are small and unrewarding XP-wise (as well as there not being enough of them), not the other way round - I mean I guess you’ve been grinding ranked or something, which, sure, do you (I’m waiting for the new missions on Friday cause I can’t get to five BR wins)
-
@On_a_Power_Trip_PSN nah, I play more offline than online. If you're playing 2 hours a day and you can hit okay (and youve done the multiplayer program, which takes like 2 hours) - then you should be at Randy now
-
cool. congrats on finishing the multiplayer program.
-
The multiplayer program takes two hours? Dang.
-
I’ve said it previously (maybe in this thread), but all of the frustrations would go away if SDS did two simple things:
-
put a repeatable PXP mission in EVERY program. You can do the PXP online or offline. Heck, make it 5k PXP for 5 points. (They could add it to Mexico City Series tomorrow!!)
-
create a small 3-5 stronghold conquest map that gives repeatable DIAMOND sellable rewards.
It’s not like this is anything new. They do repeatable PXP in the Extreme program every year I’ve played. And they did a 3 stronghold conquest map last year. All this noise goes away! And we go back to “discussing “ the number of Yankee and Dodger cards vs Cardinals!! (Ha ha ha…)

@rubicante23_PSN 500 really isn’t a lot. I remember recently when we had a 1 million inning/season. The problem is a complete lack of things to do that give us big chunks of xp.
-
@capardo_XBL super small conquest map that gives good repeatable sellable rewards? - that seems a bit overboard. Would cause huge inflation - anything that gives everyone a way to get stubs quick is a double-edged sword
-

Yeah. The amount of XP needed is kind of irrelevant. It is the opportunities to earn that XP that is more important
Just a quick gander. I believe the inning programs last year needed less total XP
The Egg Hunt Program in 2025 awarded 35K. This year it gave 7.5K
Jackie Robinson Program in 2026 awarded 35K. This year 10KJust a quick google showed that the Boss packs last year for inning 3 were at 245K and 400K. This year, if you want to call Bobby Doer a Boss then that is earned at 275K while the actual Boss pack is at 500K
So, last year if I only wanted one of the cards in the boss Pack I could grab it at 245K while this year if I want to earn Randy or Babe I need to get to 500K. So more than twice the XP needed to earn one of the packed Boss cards while the programs I mention above are earning you 1/3rd of the XP from last year
-
Something we can all agree on - stop giving individual show packs as rewards in the inning path. Those should be egg hunt or Jackie packs or something - one show packs is silly, thanks for the nickel grandma
