How is Flaherty a Diamond?

Don't worry, the SDS Cards homers will release a 99 rated Future WS MVP Flaherty card any day now.

Can’t wait for that 95 FS Kolten Wong with like 90s across the board offensively.

Oh come on. Even if Flaherty is slightly overrated, who else have they rated unfairly high for the Cardinals?

Yeah that Ankiel SS was on point.

It was the lowest rated sig series card. All sig series cards were jacked up. And for what it's worth, his rookie year he had a 134 ERA+ and 194 strikeouts in 175 innings.

8th best pitcher WAR last year and just about every projection system has (had) him being Top 10 again this year.

If the game ratings were based solely on last years stats then he would be diamond worthy but it’s supposed to be a three year average. And they dont use projections to determine ratings so it seems a little premature to throw the diamond label on him is all. High rated gold with a diamond upgrade later this year assuming he pitched at the same level would seem more appropriate

Great, he should have had a RoY card then, SS is based off multiple years and Ankiel was...not so much.
-
I'm a Cubs fan so it pains me to say this but he was probably the best NL pitcher in the 2nd half. Look @his numbers after the ASB. Honestly absurd.
But I hear ya. If they're still basing it off 3 years, he probably should be a high gold. Also, Kluber should still be a diamond and Wade Davis probably hasn't sucked quite enough to warrant being a COMMON haha. How quickly the mighty have fallen.

He came on 2nd in ROY voting to Furcal. It was a multi-year card in the sense that it had good hitting attributes. He was an outfielder in the league for years afterward. He had back-to-back seasons with a 119 and 120 ops+. Hit 25 homeruns in 2008 I think it was.

You mean the 99 rookie Randal Grichuk?
-
Ankiel was a once in a lifetime talent. Too bad LaRussa didn’t know how to handle him. Too bad he left him on the mound to die in the playoffs. I live 20 min East of stl and watched it all unfold!
-
He doesn't have 3 full years, similar to Pete Alonso. However, if you have two working eyeballs, you'd understand why both got diamond cards.

Randal Grichuk plays for the Blue Jays and has for a while. Thank you for your contribution.
Edit: I realize now you meant a flashback. Nevermind.

Ok man you're right, a guy with a career WAR of 9.1, 13 career wins, 76 career HRs, a career .240 hitter and ERA of almost 4 with one good season certainly deserved an 88 Sig Series card.

It’s just contradicting of SDS. They say they base so much on statistics but ratings are heavily swayed by how they can change the market.
The “use your eyes” didn’t apply to Nolan Arenado having gold fielding last year, or even back in 17 or 18 when he had like 40 reaction.
SDS just does whatever they want with ratings at times to make sure certain collections aren’t tanked. And also to make sure they can drop a better version of the same player later.

Pete broke multiple records in his first and only season. Tell me all the records Flaherty broke so far in his 2.5 seasons...I’ll wait. And no one said he played 3 full years just saying you can’t base his rating purely on last year. He doesn’t even have a winning record for his career yet and they handing him a diamond lol. ERA wise yes he was an absolute stud for HALF a season but that doesn’t justify a diamond imo

It was a cool card. I specifically requested it once on here, but I thought a "what could have been" line of cards would have been cool. If they did that, he would have been rated even higher.

This is how we get 95 Madrigal fantasy nonsense cards. Why not make a 99 Roy Hobbs card at this point?
