Running List of Why The Show Is a Bad Game

@dap1234567890_PSN
I'm the victim!! You're completely unhinged!! But yeah, it would be nice to see someone show that guy a little respect. He doesn't have to do any arguments for me, but I think what he wrote has plenty of substance. You just want to hijack the thread though, I get it. Unhinged people going to do unhinged things. Let me take the time to reply to his second post without your unhinged interruptions. -
@Squid_Adams_PSN Yeah! Yeah! Okay, you're always the victim! That's why you get banned and have your posts get locked! Never you!
Keep telling yourself that buddy! No matter how many times you say that, it won't become fact. You go complain and want to disrespect SDS, but then you want them to come save you from a fight that you picked yourself!
-
For the record, anyone whom I have blocked the account of no longer has their comments appear before me. So, there seems to be a large section of this thread I have not read and I guess I benefit from that fact!

It's no secret that my niche love of The Show is in RTTS and Custom Stadiums. I just enjoy playing virtual baseball games because in my sixties it's as close to playing actual baseball games as my body can handle! To those who don't understand that, don't worry, in time you all will! LOL!!
Same for me! (though to be fair, it's more about the lack of resources to get a game together) This is my baseball fix and half the time I don't even recognize the sport I grew up loving. But listening to Goose Gossage and Gary Sheffield interviews, it appears baseball has begun to change for the worse. Rob Manfred is absolutely horrible. He makes Roger Goodell look perfect.
I do think the majority of my issues are due to the nature of online play. However, I don't see the point of a card collecting game if I'm just going to play the computer. The idea is to put your team to the test against other people. RTTS also has some issues where it feels like the game pushes me into slumps and then allows a hot streak after so long. The more I play The Show, the less fun it becomes, it seems. That's what makes me angry. I know the foundation is rock solid and I've never questioned if I like baseball or not... but the game has been disappointing me for close to 10 years now. I'm a huge baseball video game player. SNES all the way through now. I've never felt this negatively towards a baseball video game. The blame can't just be with the people who don't understand the game the same way others do. It's so close to being a fun game, but often regresses into something rage-inducing.
But yes, gameplay aside, seeing so many problems that haven't been addressed is unforgivable. That's something I expect of EA and Madden, but SDS / The Show were supposed to be different. They always touted how they were the most critically acclaimed sports franchise, now they're slipping into Madden territory.
Exactly. There's not much they can change from year to year... so why not focus on quality of life things like that? Or continuously adding new announceable team names? Or giving us new classic stadiums. Or a new logo creator that is easier to use for people who don't have a degree in graphic design. Or custom walkup music. Etc etc. They've become lazy and complacent like EA and 2K.
People may not be ready to rake them over the coals to the degree I am, but they don't seem to want to hold them accountable for ANYTHING. That's a recipe for an inferior product. If they don't care, why would SDS care?

@dap1234567890_PSN
PM him already! -
@Squid_Adams_PSN Woopity doo! You are the only who cares about getting banned and complains about it. Also, just because you said something doesn't mean they will do it. They can read and they can see what was typed! You asked for it, you got what you deserved...every single time! You want to say SDS needs to take responsibility for what they do, but you never want to take responsibility for your actions! Then complain when you get what you deserve!
Wait...Wait...What happened to me being the SDS forum moderator??? So if I'm the moderator (or an SDS employee), why would I ban myself (or SDS ban their own employee)??? Oh yeah, that was just you trying to insult me and basically name-calling in an extremely poor manner!
-
I didn't read any of that, because I know it's going to be unhinged and without substance, like every one of your posts that preceded it. What I'm going to tell you is to:
- PM that guy
- It's Friday! You've been on these forums all day defending The Show's honor. You must be tired of this battle. Go enjoy the night out on the town!
While you've been ready to pounce on ever one of my replies, I've had breakfast, lunch, a killer workout, a post workout meal and now I'm going to catch a flick! Get outside! Just don't be unhinged in public.
-
@Squid_Adams_PSN Never once "defended SDS" only told you how much of a whiny cry baby you have been about you getting banned previously and whining even more about your other topic being locked! You are delusional! You just come up with canned responses that make no sense! But agan, you proved yourself to be non compos mentis from the beginning!
Look forward to your complaints later next week that you aren't getting your way with SDS as usual! You know after you get your message of "Sorry you have hurt feelings, but there is a block function you can use!" from SDS!
Also, you shouldn't lie! You obviously read my posts! If you didn't, you wouldn't have responded! You can't help yourself since you are a glutton for punishment that enjoys the pain that you constantly ask for.

@SDS_JoeK_PSN are we gonna keep this one going?
-
Aww, shoot... we're getting told on. Before this thread is closed and I'm suspended along with dap, I need to know......Did @dap1234567890_PSN send you a PM? Ya'll should meet IRL, catch a game together and slam beers. I think dap needs that more than anyone. He's replying to the void right now, on a Friday in July. I feel for bro. (or sis?)

@PriorFir4383355_XBL said in Running List of Why The Show Is a Bad Game:
That said, there are fair criticisms to level. I have seen over five years bug reports issued first with MLB 21 that have gone to this day unfixed. Folks, there's no excuse for that! And I'm talking about basic functions not working properly, like stadium seats in custom stadiums going from their assigned colors to pure white or most recently grey for no good reason, spoiling the look of stadiums already blanched of life by deliberate efforts to ensure they are trapped in relative degradation.
I want to highlight this again, because this is related to what the thread was started for. It reminded me of something that happened in WWE in recent years. I'm not as big a fan as I used to be. I was all about the Stone Cold Steve Austin days. Slowly wrestling started to turn into something I didn't recognize, a'la what I'm talking about with The Show. I still had love for wrestling and wanted it to be good again (much like The Show), but that didn't happen for a long, long time. I'd pay attention here and there, usually around the time of their biggest events. (and I used to watch every event.) But then, I discovered CM Punk and if anyone's familiar, it was right around the time he was the hottest wrestler in the industry. I saw WWE fumble that entire storyline which lead to him walking out of the company for 10 years and returning to the stale, childish product they had been putting out since the Chris Benoit incident.
Finally, the fans started doing something about it. CM Punk walking out, combined with elevating part timers over popular top talent made the fans revolt. They started to hijack shows, start hashtags etc. The heat got pretty extreme, and ultimately the fans started getting what they wanted again. Then AEW started and was legitimately popular for a few years. That competition forced WWE to step up their game and ultimately benefitted the product because of it. Are they at the level they were in the 90's? No. And frankly, I don't know if them selling to TKO is going to be a good thing. It seems like things are kind of regressing under their watch. But for a time, fan complaints and competition lead to WWE becoming a more interesting product after years of stale and bottom of the barrel entertainment. I would love to see the same thing happen to The Show, but sadly it seems there are too many people denying the game's problems / fighting against it improving. As long as people are steadfast in them going down this wrong direction, I fear I will never get to play a quality baseball title again.

If u want this game to go back to its former glory DD should be removed.
This game got worse and worse every year since DD was introduced.
-
@toeter83_PSN
Honestly, you might be right. Sad thing is, on paper DD should be an absolute blast. I love putting together teams, lineups, opening cards, designing jerseys and stadiums etc... but I think Ultimate Team modes might be a culprit behind the decline in the 3 major sport franchises. Not to mention, it's well past time to discontinue yearly installments. It should be like Fortnite or Warzone where it's just one game, but gets updated over the years. They could always charge for new jerseys and rosters. But yeah, won't hold my breath. -
@Squid_Adams_PSN yeah my opinon as well man.
The first year DD was introduced was cool though. 16 to but 17 and 18 where already games where things got nerved to favor payin players ( nrg)
I also never liked the 99 cards with 125 power or whatever.
They should add a mode in dd with only live series cards and no rng. I would love that. -
@toeter83_PSN
17 was probably the one I enjoyed most, as Griffey has always been one of my favorites. I think that's the last year where 99 or 100 was the highest power went (and it took a lot longer to fill your team out with diamonds) It seems like 18 was where more and more people started to dislike the series... also when they introduced 125 power. Now there's just too much emphasis on home runs, because I guess people think baseball is boring unless every hit is a bomb. Market is ripe for an arcade baseball / the return of MLB Slugfest.While I understand why they did it (to make things go quicker) not having to warm up pitchers and giving everyone a DH has sucked some strategy out of the game. I'm with you, I'd like some kind of mode that caps your team's overall / live series cards and gold, silver and bronze cards are in play. Make people decide on how to deck out their lineup strategically instead of just putting 99's at every position. The strategy is part of what makes baseball great. Seems they forget that there's more to their audience than young broccoli haircut bros who want to throw gas and hit bombs.

Its a private forum. You don't have any freedom of speech rights here
100% … I was out when I read it

Way to get us off topic again. You don't have free speech in Germany, so of course you're in favor of restricting what people can say and think. As long as I'm not making threats, yelling choice words in a movie theater or airplane, and following the code of conduct, I'm good to go!
What we're talking about is what's wrong with The Show. As you can see, others do agree with what I'm saying, just too many SDS fanboy clones trying to muddy up the waters with unrelated posts and get this thread locked.
-
Just to address your first concern about all your topics being locked. They get locked if people in the forum report them. Just letting you know. Also, enough people report you and you also get booted.

You would have retained far more goodwill if you simply blocked his account, which is of course your right to do, without the public notice that you did so. In my view, that crossed its own line into personal insult. So, that sort of weakens any moral foundation you had to your own action, wouldn't you agree?
