Agreed that it is an underwhelming final card for Mays, but it came out over six months ago and the new game is releasing in like three weeks.
Time to move on.

My only hope is that SDS wanted to give Mays (and Gehrig) awesome 23 cards and therefore set the bar low

Looks like all the work for 23 was devoted exclusively to the Negro Leagues part of the game.
The only player that is new to me that I would be excited about is J. R. Richard. I always wonder what may have happened had he not had that stroke.
Just another coat of paint and a pricey roster update.

JR is in this years game... he was one of the Headliners featured cards if I recall correctly.

You are definitely right about the legend reveals so far. Jeter and the Negro Leaguers, everything else is just guys who once played baseball (I.e- Carlos Peña and Jake Peavy etc.)
JR Richard was new in 22.
I do think the content structure looks promising but will wait to see how it pans out

Willie Mays is perhaps the MLB GOAT, and I am far from a Giants fan. For SDS to do that to his card is pathetic. Very disrespectful.

Amen to you guys that noticed. I saw Mays play when I was 10 and believe me he was much better than his card in 22 showed.

As you know I was convinced they would add a better Mays and Gehrig after they dropped a second 99 Clemente, Randy and of course the whole Griffey debacle. I really believe they screwed up with the multiple 99s. It was that weird 99 Griffey that was really no better than the 95 Future stars that seemed to change the rules. Bottom line, Mays’ card should always be top 5 in attributes if not number 1.

I don’t have a problem with multiple 99’s. I remember back in the day A-Rod had three 99 cards. I think it’s pretty cool to be honest. But yeah Mays deserved a better card I suppose.

It's surely a simple fix, but just think that anyone waiting for SDS to patch something for 22 when the new game comes out in a few weeks is kidding themselves.
22 is dead to them and ain't being updated.

if the community would have been in an uproar when he dropped, they would have changed it....now 0 chance they fix it for 22
