I’ll give you an update, the game will not be good. 21 was bad, 22 was on par with 18 as worst game in the franchise history. So if you think 23 isn’t s going to be something stellar your going to be disappointed

I actually thought 21 was the best since 17. Not expecting anything earth shattering in 23.

You have some wanting new '22 content, yet, it's late December.
I'd expect some news when the calendar turns to January.
There is no sure thing for '23 cover athlete. Maybe Judge again? I don't think Julio is that well known yet, but we'll see.

They will most likely fix some issues we wanted fixed 4 years ago and add some features nobody asked for. Might even fix co-op, a mode nobody asked for but was introduced regardless. But it never worked. Save your money, play something else until they rebuild this game properly from the ground up.

You are always right on brother. My son got me 2K Tiger Woods Golf for Christmas and I’m having a blast. The baseball game is in sad shape.

How does it compare to old EA Tiger games? I loved those.

The game is usually a cut and paste job every year with a few new bells and whistles.
Don't expect the massive overhaul that the hitting interface needs, or more realistic defense.
I think Mini Season was rather boring.
RTTS is pretty laughable at this point.
I buy the game every year because it's the only baseball game in town, and I enjoy H2H gameplay.

Competition breeds better products, but monopolies lead to stale, boring, repetitive games.
In other words, this is it.
And it will probably remain so until another video game company does it better.

You can’t spin the ball like you used to in the old game. It’s new to me and I haven’t played a golf game in a few years so I guess that’s why it is so fun. The wind really comes into play in this game.

About when do we start hearing about who the cover athlete is, what new legends, what changes they’re making to gameplay, etc.?

I have been so frustrated with ‘22 and I want to be excited about this game again.

I hope for Negro League players and/or actually being able to score runs.

I do know this for a fact

It comes out in the spring of 2023

If they fix anything they need to fix the timing on pitches, I don’t understand how I can be early on 96 mph then a pitch later it’s 98 and in the same location and I’m late. That just doesn’t make sense to me. I feel like this is a minor issue and could be easily corrected but what do I know.

Even though he was on the cover after his rookie year Judge could definitely be on the cover again. Set an AL record for HR, AL MVP, and highest profile free agent of the offseason. If you are going to have a repeat cover then he would be a good choice

After him I would say Pujols if he was still playing. I still think he would be a good choice but they usually don't immediately license newly retired players. Of course if you are going to break that rule then Pujols would be a good choice to start with. Kind of shocking he has never been on the cover.

Goldschmidt won the NL MVP but I don't think he is marketable enough outside of Arizona and St Louis. I actually think Arenado would be the better choice from St Louis, but I will not be holding my breath for a STL cover Athlete.

Of course there is always Trout but I have a feeling that they have tried that in the past and that there is some roadblock to that actually happening.

I understood he had an exclusive marketing deal with some mobile game

    19: announced 11/2/18
    18: announced 11/6/17
    17: announced 10/28/16
    16: announced 12/5/15

Always thought announcing it during the World Series was the optimal way to go, but what do I know?!?

Yeah it looks like they were doing it during that window until COVID... looking at the calendar and what they've done the last 2 releases we should get official word on 1/30/23 about MLB The Show 23.

I'm hoping we get an early March release (ahead of start of season at end of the month) or at the latest end of March (on Opening Day/Opening Weekend).

Mauer got the cover back to back years so Judge definitely sounds like a safe bet to be the second player to get a second cover... as far as Julio after his performance in the Home Run Derby it is definitely not out of the realm of possibility that he lands on the cover.

Selfishly I'd like to see Pete Alonso get the cover though.

MLB The Show X was always announced in X-1 year until 2021 and 2022. The obvious excuse for the delay in those years was confirming XBox/Switch compatibility. Unless they're adding PC to the mix for 23 (and I really REALLY hope they're not), there's no longer an excuse for delaying the announcement till after the new year.

I usually don't expect much in the way of details until Feb at the earliest. Maybe we get the announcement of a cover athlete but gameplay demos will be shown in various YouTube videos/live streams in Feb/Mar.

That said. Don't get your hopes up too high. My guess is that most things that frustrated you in 22 will also be in 23. If not then there will be new things to frustrate you.

Well the game maybe coming out in February cuz of the wbc...

Judge won't get it since he had it back in 18 and I don't see him being on the cover till he a legend

They are not adding pc and its confirmed. Mlb the show 23 has been rated in Brazil or some other country and its only ps, Xbox if I remember correctly, I can see switch still having 23 tho

22 was definitely a frustrating experience... Batters Timing window = timing slit. You can be very late on 97 and very early on 95. WTF

I agree with this as well!

Ever since the pandemic hit the info for the next game has been withheld until the end of January/beginning of February. So I would assume we will start hearing stuff starting in a few weeks.
