World Series Attributes are just Silly
-
I realize that SDS has to have a Post Season/World Series Program, but some of the attributes are prett funny.
The pitching stats are spot on-- Houston's bullpen was obviously sick. But the offensive numbers?
Bit of a reach.
I think a lot of the cards are based on one at bat, not overall series stats.
Brandon Marsh?
Rhys Hoskins hit .120 and played Little League defense.
Chas McCormick, .211?
Kyle Tucker hit .190.The Show '23 should reflect the current state of the game.
Contact numbers should be around 40 for the superstars.
Plate Vision/Discipline around 20.
And lots of K's.The Series made up for a lot of staring at the TV waiting for someone to pop one in the playoffs.
So many K's, weak pop ups, and nary a hint of small ball. But like Glavine and Maddux said in their classic commercial from 20 years ago, "Chicks dig the long ball."
-
I mean, imagine if they made the stats "realistic", what would even be the point of releasing them? They'd be asking for the community to get in a uproar towards them.
-
Agreed that they gave Marsh too much power after he hit a bomb for me. His prospect card from about 2 years ago was a light hitting pitch runner for me. He didn't even have the dirt dawg Charlie Blackmon beard either.
-
Obviously the stats are silly. Look no further than Ozzie Smith with over 90 Power. He hit less than half the HRs Judge did this year in his entire career. I believe the first few months do a decent reflection and the 99s for the Inner Circle HOFers like Mays, Aaron, Nolan Ryan, Albert Pujols, Foxx, Babe etc....those are fairly accurate. Beyond that it's a fantasy game.

They need to rethink the whole 125 attributes formula.
No reason a current player should have the same attributes as someone like Griffey or Mays.
The big boys should be the only ones who get 99s.
Anyone else; 95 max. And that's being generous.
They also need to go back to the old LS formula where 85-89 are still Golds.
Also, bring back the old QS value.

Agree as far as rethinking the 125 thing, should go back to 99 max.
Disagree with everything else. If they only have the “big boys” as 99s then you would never see any team variation online. Also the new quick sell values are much better than the old ones when it comes to investments, also it definitely made the LS collection easier this year. -
The show is regressing backwards to Triple Play Baseball. For those who never played it was a great game it's first year, but each year it got more cartoonish than the previous. You could power swing with any player and hit no doubt bombs all day long. They didn't have career mode, just game mode and season mode, which was literally just one season.
Just to prove a point I used power swing only with the Cubs players in a season and Mark Grace hit 125 homers. Even pitcher Kevin Foster hit 50 for me. The arrival of 99 power Ozzie Smith marks a return for that. The game has is becoming rigged so that all you do is mash the buttons and hit as many homers as you want.

Going back to 99 attributes is fine, but going back to only inner circle HOFers being usable is the quickest way for me to quit this franchise. A bunch of weirdos compared 22 to 18 early in the year, but nothing in this game has ever been worse than 18 only having 12 usable cards in the whole game

Brandon marsh looks like he smells terrible.
-
I understand that it may not be realistic with some of the cards they release, but it is a fantasy mode in a fantasy video game. Until they are able to balance the offense to the point where contact is as important as power, this is how they are able to keep the lineups diversified. Seeing the same cards on every team gets old real fast. At least you are now able to use cards that would normally be considered useless.

To be honest, most of the players look like homeless people now. I think it was the "Daniel Bryan Effect" back in the 00's when he got popular in WWE with that look and the players took a liking to it. If MLB players didn't make as much money as they do, half of them would never get a date based on appearance.

It’s supposed to be a fantasy mode but then, we still get lineouts and warning track flyballs etc on good swings, in the name of realism.
I agree with much that has been said in this thread.
The game needs a new take.

“Siri, who are the 2004 Boston Red Sox?”

It really started with NHL playoff beards, let's be honest.
Then you go to Johnny Damon & the idiots, James Harden, Chuck Nasty, for the dirt dawg look so many have today. I guess their wives like it, so go for it. -
