    I guess I'm back

My main forum account (the PSN one) was banned two months ago and no one at SDS customer support will answer what I did wrong or if it will ever be unbanned. Therefore, I -- just like SDS God Tatis -- have learned nothing from my punishment.

Head's up for SDS: I used to play your game every single day and the forums kept me involved with the community and, by extension, your buggy mess of a game. Since banning me, my enthusiasm has been nearly zapped and I only bother firing up the ol' PS4 about once a week or so. Couldn't care less anymore. And the irony is that i used to be one of the very, very few people in this community who defended your horrible customer service and your disaster of a game. Keep treating your dwindling few faithful fans like garbage and your player base will look like the attendance at an Oakland A's game.

Anyway. I'm here. Not sure why.

    @theBlindRhino said in I guess I'm back:

Your also one of the most legitimately funny posters. What on earth did you get banned for?

I am 99% sure it was back in mid-June when some mental giant at the SDS social media team made a typo on a Twitter post that turned a regular tweet into something very filthy. I can't even remember what it was tbh. Someone made a post on this forum to alert all of us to the hilarious tweet and everyone who replied in the thread got taken down.

Look, I always own up to my stupid posts that get me banned (and wear it as a bit of a badge of honor), but I swear on my life that all I posted in that thread was a quote of the OP and "LOL." I'm fairly certain almost everyone who posted anything at all in that thread got banned. Not sure why it was for a lifetime and not the usual week or month.

But we have this new Ninja doofus running around and insulting everyone in the community and it's just radio silence from SDS. Unreal.

    You(nt) had me at hello

The first time I said "I love you" to Robin, he got scared. So scared that he ran out of the restaurant and started acting very distant. Cold. I wanted to pretend everything was OK, but I knew deep down (perhaps not even all that deep) that I had gone too far. When I finally pressed and asked what was wrong, he said he wasn't even sure what "love" meant. He was scared of my feelings. Of his feelings. Perhaps of all feelings.

He said, "Schnauzer, we're only 14 years old. These feelings... when did you know?" I made him promise not to laugh. I sat him on the bed and I took his hand in mine. I said, "Do you remember the time when we were in my backyard chasing fireflies? And you had, like, 20 in your jar, and I had one with a broken bulb? And then Tim Anderson came outside and started teasing us?" Robin remembered. Like it was yesterday. We recalled how TA7 mocked me by chanting "Schnauzer loves Robin!"

Embarrassed, and unwilling to own up to my feelings in front of my peers, I denied the truth. My truth.

"Yuck!" I cried. "I hate him!"

But, I tell Robin... that's when I knew. That's when I knew I loved him, and that no other shortstop would ever be as good. He ruined me for all shortstops. Yet we were just children.

    "Schnauzer! We were only 6!"

I wait for the laughtrack to die down and then I say, "Who cares?"

Still, Robin isn't sure. "How could you know then? I'm not even sure what 'I love you' means now."

I reached over and brushed some old flecks of food out of his mustache. I pull out a stiff-bristled brush and I scruffed some dead skin out of his horrifically acne-scarred face.

"Look," I tell him. "All I know is that you and I belong together. I've always been able to talk to you, to make you laugh and I've always, always wanted you to bat 7th on my god squad..."

He seems to soften a little.

"So that's what I love you means?"

"Yeah," I tell him. He's silent. For a long time. A long, uncomfortable amount of time. So I head to his window, and I prepare to climb out of his room and out of his life. Forever. "Bye."

"Schnauzer?" he calls as I'm already out of frame. "I love you too."

Then I throw him back my jean jacket. Or maybe that was a different episode. Maybe that's when he told me his family was moving to Pittsburgh and that we would have to break up. Or maybe it was after I caught him pretending to be a French foreign exchange student at that party at Hamilton High. I don't remember. We broke up so many times.

Things were great after that. For a while. Then we went skiing on a class trip and I sprained my ankle. I spent the whole night talking to 99 Honus Wagner, and, in the morning -- after we watched the moon pass over the mountains -- he kissed me. Of course, Robin found out. We split up. But only for a while. Because, you see, true love -- like the love between a Schnauzer and a Yount -- it can overcome anything. Everything! Even if I made out with the girl from Freaks & Geeks and then lied about it.

After graduation, he proposed. We knew it would be hard, but we made it work. He was my shortstop for life, and there was nothing anyone could do to change that.

Thank you, SDS. Thank you for bringing my shortstop home.

@Weshill627_PSN said in Topic for anyone to respond. All feedback is welcome+:

Biggest problem is that SDS has the monopoly on baseball games. If EA or 2K released a game I'd go play it, but they have not.
If I believe the game has issues. I should bring them up and tell SDS how bad their game is in hope they put actual effort in next years game.
If no one said anything and said the game is amazing, they wouldn't strive to make next year's game good, they would take the easy road like 22. And make another boring game..

So many things I want to say, but I actually enjoy this game so I’ll keep it as brief as I can.

First, making a game of this scope and magnitude is an absolutely mind-bogglingly complex undertaking. I will never ever understand this insistence that they are being lazy or “taking the easy road” just because, like, you line out more than you think you should. There is no “easy road” taken here. You may not like perfect/perfect fly outs, but that’s not a result of “laziness.”

Second, we often complain because SDS doesn’t interact with their community enough, but do you see why that’s the case? Because there are half a dozen posts exactly like yours every single day. And this is, depressingly, the most positive community for this game. The cesspool of hate, entitlement, and negativity on Twitter, Reddit, and IG make this forum seem like a weekend with Anne Hathaway.

So if you think SDS is somehow blissfully unaware of what a comparatively small but wildly vocal group of angry gamers think, then you needn’t worry. They know what you think! But they are privy to mountains upon mountains of data that we aren’t. By that, I mean they are making the best possible version of a game that needs to appeal to an enormous range of consumers. It has to simultaneously be enjoyable for, like, 8-year-olds who barely understand baseball and only play video games once in a blue moon, as well as to hardcore competitive esports gamers who make a living in front of their consoles.

Everyone thinks their specific demographic is all that matters. It’s not! They’re not in business to go out of business. They know what they’re doing. This is not some kid’s lemonade stand. So when people post tirades because they think it’s going to somehow help SDS or enlighten them with brand new insights that have never occurred to them, I can’t help but shake my head and laugh. This is a big company that’s been in businesss for longer than some of their customers have even been alive. They are not going to do an about face and drastically rewrite their game because of some whiney Twitter posts and YouTube videos made by angry gamers who are all convinced there is a massive conspiracy in the code to keep them from winning.

I know everyone gives him a hard time for this, but Ramone meant what he said when he said the game plays as intended. This is the game they want to make. You can choose to enjoy it for what is, or you can just move on to a different game. But contributing to the most toxic underbelly in this community — especially under the guise of posting some sort of inspirational, altruistic one-man focus group that only wants to help (by being needlessly negative) — is not going to help anyone or anything.

Now if you’ll excuse me. I’m going to go back to watching Boy Meets World and playing the new conquest map.

RE: Topic for anyone to respond. All feedback is welcome+

If you want a serious answer and a serious discussion then perhaps you should consider posing a serious question. I didn’t read a word after the first sentence, and no one who would otherwise be interested in engaging in an objective, productive, open-minded discussion will read past that silly question either. You’re either going to get the ridiculous echo chamber hyperbolic responses about how this game is the worst plague ever set upon humanity, or you’ll get people purposely derailing what is clearly an antagonistic thread by engaging in some good old-fashioned trollsmanship.

If you think the game is as boring as that question implies, then why are you wasting your time on this game AND on this forum? When you look back on your life, aren’t you going to wish you had spent time doing things that actually being you joy and peace? If this game isn’t doing it for you, then I’ve got great news! There are a million other games out there, and odds are good that a lot of them will give you a good punch in the ol’ dopamine bone.

Go read a book or pet a dog or karate chop a baby. Whatever makes you happy. Because this game clearly doesn’t do it, and this kind of whineballing just gives you an excuse to wallow in your own unhappiness and it makes the community a more toxic, divisive, and miserable place.

And the white Sox just lost in the 10th to the tigers. So everything is terrible. Thanks.

Negro Leagues stars (especially Gibson). Speaking of Gibson, they desperately need some more catchers. Fisk, Yogi, Roy Campanella, Mickey Cochrane, Thurman Munson, and Ted Simmons would be awesome. And we just lost Buster Posey AND Yadi, so we’re really hurting for catchers. My end game catcher is usually a 1B. In 2023, no more Foxxes in the hen house!

I just always assumed you live in Pittsburgh. I’ve got a buddy out in Jacksonville. He told me someone ran through a gas station holding a 3-4 foot long alligator. I can’t remember if he said the guy was trying to threaten people with it, but that’s how I prefer to think of Jacksonville: just a bunch of dudes threatening each other with alligators.

Disappointment: I hate to say it, but I didn’t hit with Carew this year. Usually one of my favorite cards. But….

Surprise: … Joe Morgan is my new favorite left-handed 2B.

EDIT: double post. So not only is your Forever Program lazy, but your forums are also a mess.

    posted in Diamond Dynasty •
RE: You think we will see any new cards in the Final Event tomorrow? If so, who?

At this stage, ALL live series packs (including BiaH and BooC) are just shy of worthless. The best possible result is to get a Chase Pack, and even those are hit-or-miss. I’ve opened 4 Chase Packs all year, and I’ve pulled 0 Chase cards.

I honestly do hate to complain, but it’s disappointing that the last 500,000+ XP levels of the Forever Program are just variations of live series packs. What’s more exciting to see — that an upcoming reward is 3 BooC packs, or that the next reward is RF Christy Mathewson (or Warren Spahn or Larry Doby or Andrew Miller or Lee Smith, etc)?

All jokes aside, I know SDS cannot possibly be so out of touch with what the fans that they think we would rather have live series packs than new cards, right? So this is either lazy or borderline contemptuous of the hardcores who play from April-to-April every cycle. Just like there’s no good reason why they didn’t throw a couple new rewards into the Forever Event, there is similarly no good reason why we didn’t get Willie Mays at 2,000,000 XP. Forget the million stubs — I don’t think there is a player out there who would rather have a million stubs than a legit end-game Mays.

    The End.

    Sincerely,
His Most Reverend Excellency Dr. Schnauzer Q. Face III, Esq.

I think Kevin can be funny in small doses,

I do watch him from time to time, and he's pretty funny. One of the few guys I've started to watch is Scann. He speaks at a reasonable volume, and has done some interesting videos... like this one for "How Trea Turner took over MLB the Show".

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5u0QzPvDGyw

Interesting that you bring him up because I actually just came across one of his videos recently! It was called “How the 2021 ASG Jacob DeGrom Changed MLB:TS” or something like that. I find those kinds of videos to be much more interesting than just watching someone play. I will definitely watch the Trea Turner video — thank you for the recommendation!

EDIT: just started watching the TT video and I am shocked at how much the attributes have exploded this year. He’s showing some of the “end game”’ shortstops from MLB 20 and 21, and their attributes are all in the ballpark of 105/110 contact and 95/100 power. I’m not seeing many attributes above about 115, much less 120+ across the board like we see this year. I’m glad he’s doing videos like this, because it’s nice to remember a time when even superstar legends had (somewhat) reasonable attributes.

EDIT: oh good lord, I switched back to that tab and the d-bag is wearing enormous purple sunglasses and yelling about his lineup. Ohhhh boy I’m done. I’m done. Good god in heaven i am done.

Most of the YT streamers seem like totally arrogant d bags. I saw one whose clickbait title was "cheeser destroyed" and he barely won.

I know it's not all of them, and perhaps they do some of that for clicks, but its one reason I am glad I don't communicate with the people I am playing online.

I don’t understand how streamers get so many views and followers. I think Kevin can be funny in small doses, but that’s about it. I used to watch McGunski in 2019 — back when he could go more than 3 words without making some sort of phallic reference. I’m fairly crass myself and it’s impossible to offend me, but even I find his commentary to be so over the top that i can no longer stomach his videos.

Here’s an interesting contrast. Just give a listen to about 30 seconds of this video from 2019: https://youtu.be/QhWHzAIR_7A He’s articulate, intelligent, helpful, and he speaks at a normal volume. I can learn a lot about the game from this version of mcgunski.

And for comparison, here is his most recent video: https://youtu.be/2UMJyeBjFig he’s shouty, whiny, and excessively vulgar. For every player, he’s got some disgusting & unimaginative nickname (i.e. Manny Machado is “Manny Man-chowder” … hah hah frickin hah).

And this is a full-time job for some of those people.
