Where do you think they get the money?

We lost Jimmie Foxx, Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, and Reggie Jackson, but no worries -- we got Tony No Bags added to the game. He of the 0.4 career WAR and 84 career OPS+.
To be fair, he did have one monster season when he put together 34HR, 118 RBI, 46 doubles, and 106 BBs.
Oops. Nevermind. Those are his career numbers.
Is this the first time you've encountered a joke on the internet, or did you really believe that I was suggesting Burnes would give up 180 HRs this year?
Manzardo is a total pugface.
And Corbin Burnes is on pace to give up about 180 home runs. What a terrible trade by Baltimore. Smart move by Milwaukee though. They knew he was done.
@DaboiNoah said in Why can't catchers be lefties?:
its just this thing where they don't do leftey catchers in the MLB because it makes it harder to tag out base runners or smth. and most 2bmen or SS are rights, and it makes it even harder for them or smth.
I'm in highschool, and I'm a leftey backup catcher, but I primarily play 1B
The righties-only tradition for middle infielders makes very good sense. If you think about how a right-handed second baseman's body is positioned when fielding a ground ball, he can basically just turn his head and he's primed for a throw to 1B. If he were a lefty, he would have to turn his body completely around, and that takes too much time. SS is similar but (imo) not quite as egregious, but you're very unlikely to see a LH SS anytime soon.
I stand by there being no good reason for lefty catchers.
This is not a bug -- it's just a preview of this year's Small Stars game.
Are you just taking the luck of the draw, or are you asking your agent to hook you up with a specific team? I got signed by the team I asked for (AZ), but then I got traded midway through the season because I was blocked by Gabi Moreno and I wouldn't accept a new position. Now I'm on the Cubs and life is terrible.
@romeischillin said in Why can't catchers be lefties?:
I think it has something to do with the mechanics of being a catcher... I played youth in the 80s/90s and every now and then we had a lefty behind the plate but he tried to catch with a first base mitt which went alright but ended up having to use the catcher 's mitt, and he'd grab the ball with his right hand from the mitt, drop the mitt and then throw with his left hand... again I think it's something with the mechanics of the position hence why First Base was routinely a left handed position but then more and more righties started to learn how to play it.
I was a catcher through HS (and a bench warming C through college), and there is only one play I can see being advantageous for a righty, and that's receiving a throw from right field for a play at the plate. I think a common misconception is that it's somehow harder to throw out runners for a lefty catcher when a righty is at the plate. That's insane. RH catchers throw out runners with a lefty in the box all the time. And being a lefty would actually be beneficial when trying to pick a runner off first since you're better set up for that throw. I don't see how sign stealing could be affected by which hand the catcher throws with (actually a LH C would have the advantage here again, as he could use his right glove hand on the ground to block runners on first base from getting a view of a poorly placed sign, but everyone is using PitchComm now anyway).
Ultimately I think it's just a self-fulfilling prophecy. There historically haven't been many lefty catchers, so there aren't many lefty gloves, so there are even fewer lefty catchers, so there are even fewer gloves which leads to fewer catchers etc. And so on and so forth.
This is some serious, serious stuff. When SDS starts switching out your cleats, you don't want a criminal attorney. You want a criminal attorney.
Wow. "Discrimination." Yikes.
There's no real reason why lefties can't be catchers, but to be fair there is a very good reason why lefties shouldn't be middle infielders. Even if we tell kids they can be anything they want if they work hard.
On the flip side of the coin, left-handed pitchers have an easier path to the majors than righties. If you are a lefty who throws strikes and can touch about 95, you're going to be ok.
Games being rushed to market is basically the norm these days (particularly for extremely time-sensitive games like this one), so early hiccups and patches should be expected. That's not the proper way to do business, but it's the way of the world and we just kind of have to accept it.
HOWEVER ... I've been playing this game since 19 and I've never seen a company that is almost aggressively incompetent when it comes to communication. Just throw us a tweet or a forum post that gives us something to go on. Even if it's something like "Hey, this is super messed up and it's going to take time to fix. We don't know how long but it's a priority, we're working on it, and we'll patch as soon as we can." Done. So easy. I don't fall into the "SdS hAtEs Us!" camp, but they are lightyears beyond bad when it comes to communication. We don't even fully understand how this game works. They lower the XP and take 10 days before they tell us how and why. Every year they get worse and worse. Hiring some streamer to post 4 times a year wasn't the answer. I'm sure he's a nice guy and he can only tell us what SDS passes along to him to share, but he doesn't (isn't allowed to?) even begin to address this company's black hole of communication.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Or maybe it's just due for an update?
Best solution is just to not buy packs at all.
애리조나 다이아몬드백스의 법칙!!!
This isn't even the worst launch of MLBTS in the last 5 years.

Time for a Roll back.....if its even possible
I wonder if it's possible to just roll it all the way back to 2019.
(And yes, I would expect that to undo the pandemic, so a lot is riding on this, SDS.)
Oh wow, I didn't know they added Princess Aaron Bummer and Lady John Smoltz cards. I heard they both have 99 Frolic and 125 Daintiness. Venelope from Wreck-it Ralph will get a Captain card and she'll add a +5 candy bonus.
I sometimes lean toward being a bit of an SDS apologist, but this is inexcusably bad.
I have a 4-day weekend (benefit of working for a Catholic school... used to be a 5-day weekend with a half day on Wednesday! Ah the good old days). Hoping this is fixed so I can grind out TA this weekend whilst baseball games run nonstop on the ipad.
Baseball is back!! Not video game baseball, mind you. That's completely broken.
EDIT: Just looked at the patch notes. IF they do fix what they broke, I am excited to see if they really did reduce the flashbangs in Conquest. That will make that mode playable at night with the lights off again. I've only been simming in the afternoon with lights on to reduce the impact of the bright flashes.
The game is officially only 8 days old. Let's give it some time. There is some sort of easter program coming out Friday. We will have topps now, MA, conquest stuff, etc. It'll be fine.

I think Andy Dwyer already called it.
No fair -- he can't have Teddy Bear Suicide, Scarecrow Boat, Mouserat, AND The John Donaldson Experience. I'll let him have The Andy Andy Andys and Muscle Confusion, but there has to be a limit somewhere
