Why is Trout so expensive?
-
Sorry if this is obvious, but why is Trout so expensive. He’s not a top rated player and I only see him required for one set.
Am I missing something?
-
Because you’re not buying Trout.
You’re buying:
Trout
Glaus
Young
Frank
RandyPlus (kind of) Brett
-
The guy above me is always right.
Ask yourself why you want Trout? I bet it's because of the reason he listed, and factor that by everyone wanting Trout for the same reason.

The key is super-fast response time, even if you're at church (allegedly.)

He WAS the highest rated card to start the year like every year so his price reflects that because he was the most rare even though he isn’t now...or could be only SDS knows.
But on top of that the LS collection unlocks 3 99 overall cards months before other 99s come out so he is always priced up. Once you get him it’s usually pretty easy to finish but this year a lot of guys are quite close in value to him. As just a player he isn’t worth it, as the key to the 99s he is, but even that’s close.
-
I’m hoping the price drops when the Trout 99 shows up.

I've had LS done since about 2 weeks after release, but I've pulled Trout twice in the past several days. Weird to see purple lights with him. Thought I had pulled FotF Trout the first time...
Anyways, with his price remaining high, I've basically been able to buy almost everything I didn't have.
That's 3 Trouts and 5 Acunas this year. Apologies to everyone whose atrocious luck is offsetting mine in order to maintain balance in the MLBTS cosmos.

Are you buying packs? I haven’t pulled a single Diamond and opened over 100 packs

I haven't bought packs...but I have pulled diamonds.....you know...the ones that go for 3,000 stubs. Have yet to pull anything of great significance. Thus, I'm still missing baasically ALL LS cards that are priced over 100,000 stubs

I get that I'm an Angels fan, but not a top rated player? Personally, I don't like using him. His swing is atrocious and there are faster players like Acuna and Tatis that have a better swing. IRL he is the top rated player. He had a 28 at bat slump. Most players worst slump is more like a 28 games or a season long slump. You need to look at his production from year to year. There is no one today that comes close.
If you're speaking of his Ovr, that's the first time I've seen it go down in four years. His play since could easily make it go back up again. Besides that, there's what three players higher than him? Live cards are almost always more expensive because of their sets. Usually his card is the highest Ovr. I do find it funny that the price actually went up after his ovr went down two points.
Yes Judge, Acuna, Tatis, and Guerrero have all recently had exceptional seasons, but not as consistently as Trout. He's our Mickey Mantle, our Babe Ruth, our Ken Griffey Jr. Six or seven bad games in a row does not make his rating lower. How about the last five games? Five home runs, four of which put the Angels ahead for the win. That's the fist time that's been done in one series. As good or better than what Trevor Story did a few weeks ago. He's not perfect, but he is the best in baseball.
With that pinstripe number 3 I'm going to guess you're a Yankees fan. Fair enough, they have had a plurality of the greatest player to ever to play the game. Babe Ruth is still considered the greatest of all time a hundred years after he played. Judge is great, but will you still think that when he's a Dodger, Giant, Astro, or, God willing, an Angel next year?

You mean you bought the live series collection after 2 weeks

Incorrect. I played more than I'd like to admit, but spent no money. I've played the one Conquest map waaaaay too many times and hit on those packs early. I had crazy pulls in the first few weeks, and I did buy several 50 bundles with stubs I had made from the pulls. I pulled Trout twice this past week after not seeing a diamond in like a month.
But whatever. You say NMS and people say, "What, you want a cookie?". You don't, and people "accuse" you of spending money. It's laughable.
(And if I WERE going to buy it, it wouldn't be two weeks after release. It would be hours or days after release.)

Not buying with money, if that's what you mean. I've played a lot of Conquest and MS and had luck beyond luck early on. Whenever I had 100K stubs I would buy a 50 pack, and on several of those I had multiple diamonds and one where I pulled 2 other Chase packs as well.
That dried up for about a month until I pulled new purple Trout twice this past week, once from a BIAG and once from a standard.

DD noobs always get a chubby for Trout.

Yes, I was only referring to his gaming rating. Not real life

No, the saddest ones are the actual casuals and noobs that come on here to cry and vent because they can't blame their own inadequacies on themselves so it has to be the game's fault. The Show 22 is amazing, once you've put in the work and work on your Sliders its a very good simulation of baseball, online and DD people can't realize that cause they are stuck on default sliders and pitch speeds. Last Spring Training game I played I got 18 hits, scored 10 runs..playing Phillies, Aaron Nola great fastball but very little movement and left too many meatballs over the plate, so I figured him out quick. The game before that I got 4 hits and no runs cause the opposite happened, dude had me on my toes, couldn't do S*^#. That's baseball, that's what you casuals don't realize, if you guys want arcade noobness go play RBI baseball or Super Smash Baseball. So yes, if some casual is gonna come on here and start talking [censored] you rest assure I'm gonna call them out.

You all are talking past each other. On Operation Sports, people have the courtesy to identify offline or online so that the games within the game don't get conflated.
That being said, you flaming DD people as noobs is hilariously pathetic. Offline franchise people are the gold standard, right? Riiiiiiight.
And I say this as a guy who would much rather play franchise than DD, but the mode has actually regressed the past few years. It was bad before, now it's just sad. And I'm talking about the mode, not the gameplay.

You did see that I started that whole thing with "Angels fan," right? I know you're the community troll, but please tell us why you insist on belittling anyone that's not you. I might disagree with someone but any time it sounds like I'm talking down to someone it's unintentional. I don't consider four years a noob, or did you miss that too.
