New Showdown

I think this showdown was the easiest by far.
-
Charging my controller atm, I left before Hamels on my second try, lost to AS Halliday

I’m 0 for 6 or 7; made it to Hamels once, no final yet.
Things I’ve learned:
- Toronto and Philly will meet in the WS, riding their Platinum Glove ladden defenses;
- don’t try to score with an 82 speed guy on a 74 arm RF 310 feet deep;
- you can dive and steel hits 15 feet before the ball reaches you;
- by the time I’m done, I’ll need 2 new controllers and a straight jacket.

Add 2 other misses; 3rd Roy and Oswalt.

Another 2 misses; made it to Hamels for the second time. 2 run double first batter; that’s all she wrote.

Another 0 for 2; I quit. Wasted my whole evening failing, getting less XP than playing any other mode trying to get fast XP, and I’ll be dead tired at work tomorrow. I hate this game
-
I banged it out on the first try, I don't mind the all boss ones. But I still hate it. Sorry to everyone struggling...All it gives is xp, could just wait towards the end of the program and see if you even need it..

Yea you literally could have played like two games vs the Orioles on rookie and got more XP.

You're right. Showdowns against the CPU on rookie or veteran against the lower tier versions of Roy Halladay are a great indicator for the quality of his card...
Even if you're judging him based on the last Showdown which is his post season card, you're only down 1 run since you have to beat the other bosses, and don't you have 20 outs to do it? Not exactly a moments extreme scenario there.

Pretty straightforward. And I’m not a showdown guy at all. Drafted all players each round with the highest power vs right handers Regardless of position. There is no pitching in this one , so you can play the hitters anywhere. Do not take any pitching perks. Again, no pitching in this one.
Each round, except one, is to face a version of halladay. I found the 2nd one the hardest. Down three with basically your weakest lineup. I got down to under 5 outs on that one. Next to last one, you face Hamels, down 2 or 3, but a guy on base and 12 outs, I think, to win.
The last one was against 97 halladay. Down 1 with 20 outs to go. First pitch, first batter (springer) hit a hanging slider for a homer to tie game. Second batter, first pitch (Mullins) hit a low fastball in the RF seats! Two pitches for the W!!
Easy!!
Oh nice so it's all bosses. Those are WAY easier. The bosses aren't bad, it's the moments that you can't repeat that are the killer. During the last one when you needed a HR I scored 7 runs in the first inning with no homers it's SOOOOOOO frustrating!
Thanks for the info I feel better now lol
QFT
Seriously, it's always those hit a HR without making 3 or outs that get me every time. Or worse you give me 6 outs but can't allow a run when I pitch and I may a mistake and bang its over.
Luckily these programs being XP now means I only have to do showdown just to have something to do, I get so much xp from MTO that I'll have max XP long before the program ends.

I played 2 times last night. First time made it to Oswalt and in case you did not know Philly has the best defense in the league. Next time I fail when I got to Hammells because I did not realize he was next and had loaded up on lefties. Again the Philly defense is amazing. All gold glove winners. My fault for not winning but when the cpu robs multiple HRs and then I ground into a double play because I got under a cutter with good timing it is frustrating. I also noticed that the first run was much easier because I got not only better players but the perks were so much better. Second time through there were many pitching perks to choose from even though you dont pitch at all.

Ok faced him in ranked seasons and used him. He honestly isn’t very good

Last several years I've played vs CPU against the O's, but this year it is at the Rockies!

My tip for this showdown...
Since it's all mini boss showdowns, 4 RHPs and then a LHP, and the main boss showdown (RHP) with ZERO game missions...
Load up on hitters than hit RHPs well and skip the final mini-boss (LHP) to go back to a RHP.
However you do it, it is still really easy.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist like gun to my head if I had to choose if it's REALLY rigged I would probably say no...But does it seem to anyone else like anytime you have a runner on first a double play is pretty much guaranteed? Like they'll hang curveballs that I'll mash and bam groundout double play.
