Looks like Jeter is the legend this year. Nintendo accidentally leaked the deluxe editions. Announcement On 2.2.22
Looking forward to Yankee fans complaining about his attributes.
Looking forward to non-Yankee fans complaining about his attributes.
I'm going with this one. SDS will give him a 99 with 90/95 power and 99 fielding. I predict sometime next season he will get a must have card that will be in everyone's lineup.

I don't think 90/95 power really is that crazy, you could argue his 1999 season deserves that

It's not a crazy thought at all. 90ish power is about 20/25 home runs or greater. Like you mentioned in 1999 Jeter hit 24 home runs had 101 rbis and had a batting average of 350.
But people will still complain.

If Jeter is confirmed, then they could bring arod, Nomar, manny and the big unit. I would like Ichiro and Matsui could also confirm with Ohtani being the cover

I have a hard time believing Jeter was juiced
When I think of clean players in that era Jeter/Griffey Jr come to mind. -
Can't wait to play with the 5th best shortstop in the AL in the 90s/00s.
If we don't get Tejada and/or Nomah as compensation, then we riot.

This is definitely mostly accurate buuuut, thanks to injuries, Nomah falls down this list. Tejada thanks to the juice. A-Rod no question was better despite the juice. I liked David Eckstein a lot hahaha.....
Buuuut, in their best years.....absolutely. who else are you considering?

Oh yes, good call. For some reason I always think of him as a 2B but he definitely logged more games at SS I believe.
Also, you did say 90s which adds Ripken and Larkin to the mix for a chunk of their career.

Jeter should have a high clutch attribute and his quirk as a leader should be making the entire lineup gain an extra level of attributes.

I could see Jeter getting something like a juiced up post season card. But I agree with most of the previous comments. A Jeter card would at best would have Alan Trammel like attributes offensively with like 75 defense.

People that love Jeter will use him, people that hate him won’t (unless he’s op)... I just hope they add some lefty relievers and get Ty Cobb back.
Absolutely, everyone has the same lefty relievers. Ty Cobb was a fun card, Hornsby too. But I guess once their contract was up SDS couldn’t reach a deal. There will be new players, as for the LH relievers, who knows.

Pretty amazing to see how many people despise Jeter. Yes, you can say he was a tad bit overrated but what do you guys expect? All he did was win, in the biggest market on earth. And not to mention he was pretty freakin good for a really long time. He’s gonna be a new legend, so he’s gonna be juiced….if you don’t like it, don’t use him

Maybe they give Jeter a program similar to the one for Jackie from MLB 20. I believe with that one you had to do a bunch of missions and moments with a bronze or silver Jackie to first unlock his gold card, then more of the same to get his low diamond and finally at the end of the reward path it would be a 99 overall.
I know Jeter isn't for everyone, but his best card will definitely be solid. He will have max contact/clutch and reverse power splits (100+ vs RH; 90+ vs LH) with 85+ fielding/speed that becomes diamond after a few parallel upgrades. Think that SDS will likely give him a Signature Series card for his 99, but I can see them deciding on a Postseason card instead.

Won’t be me. If SDS wants to give the worst defensive SS of all time inflated fielding attributes, they are welcome to.
Come on he’s not the worst. He certainly isn’t the best, but saying he was the worst is a gross exaggeration. I would say that he was average to slightly below average defensively.

He may not be the worst of all time, but he’s easily the worst of the modern era. His -162 DRS is over twice as bad as the next lowest, and his -66.1 UZR is by far the lowest as well.

Yes I get it, but those numbers are a culmination of a 20+ year career. There are very few SS out there that have had that long of a career. SS is one of the most demanding positions on the field and thus ends up with shorter careers do to the toll it takes on their bodies. I’m just saying that he is not as bad as the one guy made him out to be. Sometimes we get too bogged down in advanced metrics and fail to take into account the whole athlete. We all know he didn’t have the greatest range but he was a solid routine play defender. And truthfully, he didn’t need to be greatest defender on those Yankees teams. All those teams needed from him was to make the routine plays. His bat was what took him to HOF level. And no I’m certainly not a Jeter fanboy, I was not a big fan of his during his playing days, I’m just merely pointing out the exaggeration of the statement that was made.

Having the worst numbers makes you the worst. Being bad for a long time doesn’t make them look any better.

Well he did win five gold gloves so obviously not everyone thought he was terrible. And like I said before, his numbers are a culmination of 20 years playing that position not 8-10 years that most SS play before their bodies break down or a positional move. Most people don’t realize that Manny Machado began his career as a SS. And based on his advanced metrics he was a pretty bad SS now he’s considered one of the best defensive 3rd baseman in baseball. Everyone looks at Tatis as the future of that position but he’s hasn’t been very good either. Tatis’ issue isn’t getting to the ball it’s knowing where the ball is going to go when he throws it. Not everyone can be Andrelton Simmons who is about as good as it get in this day and age where he is a great routine play SS and has otherworldly range and accuracy.
