I’m worried. The last lockout was before my lifetime (feeling old yet?). What does this mean?? I want to watch my Tigers play in 2022.
The lockout in the words of Manfred “is to prevent what happened with the strike in ‘94, we owe the fans better than that”
Especially to those of us who were Expos fans, that strike was devastating.
I still think that was a conspiracy to rob a World Series from the Expos, wouldn’t be great if Canadian teams were winning all the championships. But seriously that ‘94 team was legit, the best that never was.
They were 74-40. Great team it's a shame that it went to waste.

Covid delaying the season didn’t stop 20 from getting released on time. But the labor issue is a bit of a different kettle of fish.
This has to be absolutely killing the team who definitely didn’t want short pre-sales 2 years in a row.

If I was SDS, I would take this chance to drop something. It's a prime time to do something imo.

Yikes... I was 30 when the 94 strike took place. I distinctly remember not caring when the game came back. It took a good 3 years or so before I got back into caring about it again.
I quit playing baseball at college when it happened. Just like you, it really affected my desire to follow MLB and enjoyment of the game for a while. Hopefully they figure this one out before it gets to that point.

We will probably see more flashback cards

You 18 at least?

Here’s a thought. If the lockout is still going on when 22 is released, would the big names that are still not signed with a team be in the free agent pool in terms of collections?
-
Probably.game itself wouldnt be affected as that is a pre existing deal and only new stuff is effected by the lockout.
Doubt it goes that long though, end January at the most, after that and it compromises pitchers getting ready for spring training, they wont want to screw their performance in the season, so they ll be pressured to avoid that if it gets that far. -

That would be awesome. Then SDS can add a collection reward. Who should it be? I say 99 Mike Trout since it was added so late this year...

It's too early to tell. The longer it goes the more likely it is to affect the game. SDS will continue to make changes and create the game but if it comes close to release time and there are no set 40 man rosters then it could be hard to release.
On the economic side, the longer the lockout continues the more people will lose interest in the sport and it could effect sales, probably not by a lot but some. Because, in the end, the average joe struggling to make ends meet will have little sympathy for millionaires on each side fighting for a bigger slice of the pie.

The free agent collection reward would have to be Pepe Alazar.

The average Joe is a lot of these minor leaguers. They are wanting extra compensation and they need to make some what livable wages. A vast majority of professional players in the minors are paid less then the guys flipping burgers.

Expos did get robbed that year, they had a great team. Also on the getting robbed list that year was Padre fans. Tony had a legitimate shot at .400 that year. Was hitting .394 at the time the season unfortunately ended, and he was on fire. He even said himself that he would've hit .400 and he was never one to say things like that. He was always the type that would go 3 for 4 in a game and say that he stunk afterwards when talking about it.

All the MLB and team websites have no indication of current players. therefore, I’m surprised they didn’t have to shut down the game or something. Because they’re making money on it. If the season is delayed, so will MLBTS22
doubt it, when the nba had a lockout in 2012 2k still dropped on at the same release time.
Yeah I'm assuming this is the case and the game will go on as planned. SDS has separate contracts with MLB and the Players Association. Therefore there is no crossover in terms of lockout. I will say it could be interesting where they put free agents probably back on the team they played for this year. Live Series could be a mess for sure.

To be fair, when they released the game in 2020 COVID wasn’t a big thing, YET

I would think the answer would be yes.
