Pre-video game, who remembers Strat-O-Matic?
I am on the young side compared to some of you gents. I’m 35 with a ton of years left in the work force.
That being said I love Strat-O-Matic. As a kid my grandpa was a baseball nut. I was raised by my grandparents. So we played a lot of board games and card games. Strat-O-Matic was one of those games that sometimes got intense. My grandpa started getting older and banned newer versions and cards to enter the game.
As a kid we’d have active debates at dinner over ratings and card attributes. Great memories with the game. I never got into the online version of the game.

Me! I’m retired and play daily. I do all of the offline missions and try to play online, but my eyes and reaction time isn’t quite so good.
I love the game and content tho!

I spent my summers with my grandparents. My grandfather had a 1960’s version of Strat-O-Matic. I distinctly remember how good Harmon Killebrew’s card was.

I'm not retired. But I am up there in age & easily older then probably 80% of MLBTS players. I'm hitting 51yo this year. Been playing video games going back to the Quarter Arcades & the Atari 2600. Played on every system since then (with exception of PS5 & Xbox Series X ... still waiting for the price to drop down much more). I am 1 of those that never outgrew playing video games. I am a true gamer.
So do NOT feel weird or alone. There are more like us out there. However within the minority. LOL
I am in your camp, turned 56 this year. Still remember playing Atari 2600 baseball, so crude yet exciting to play at the time. The first real baseball game I owned was on the C64, then I was hooked..
Star League Baseball?
Hardball?
Earl Weaver?Which one?

I retired at the age of 38 and have been continuing to play since then.

Not retired yet but not a young chicken.
There's an older guy on twitch - not yet retired - but probably late 50s that streams and he's one of the few guys I follow.
I'm going to have to follow him. I just started streaming...not on a regular basis yet, though.
cool ill check it out, what's the link to your stream?

My great pops lived to be 93 just watching the A’s game and cowboy movies all day. Seems like the life to me. Hope I can be an old man some day

At 68, I wonder if I'm the oldest person playing this game. Yes, retired. Used to love to play the Strat O Matic board game. For me this game is Strat O Matic brought to life. Offline only for me.
Do you play SOM 365?
I've been playing for over 15 years and actually did beta work with The Sporting News back when they kicked it off. I took about 7 years off, but have been playing again the last few years and enjoying it

Played my first game in 1986.
You should check out SOM 365. I'm in a bunch of theme leagues there.

Which one?For me, the best one overall was SNES/SNK Baseball Stars. MLBTS could learn a thing or two about how to "climb a wall, rob a HR" from that game...

52 here and playing video games since the arcades and the Atari 2600 back in the late 70’s. I love it and don’t plan to stop anytime soon.

Wasn’t Baseball Stars the game where you could charge the mound and fight if the pitcher hit you? I definitely recall a NES game like that as my buddies would play that all the time and fights were awesome!

I don't remember the fights. I remember that if you mistimed a jump at the wall, you'd fall into the stands. If you made the catch, there was a cool little animation where he'd swipe his glove.

Just curious because I've been retired since 2016 and play the show quite a bit. I know of a couple "old guys" that play and was wondering how many are really out there.
Not retired although I am 54 and play often maybe too much lol

I will be retirement age in a few years and still play The Show.
A good friend of mine, he played the show every day until he moved to Thailand a few years ago, at the age of 62.
