Struggling with certain guys

For me, it’s Soriano. From an attributes standpoint he is great, but I can’t hit with him to save my life.

I can’t hit anything with Gallo online. Offline he’s pretty good for me because it’s usually lower difficulty.
Gallo is one of those guys that everyone seems to do well with but I just cannot hit with him. Was using his 42 card at 3rd for a while and he was just a huge liability offensively. Eventually benched him for FS Riley and then moved McMahon back there after I got Banks and moved Trea Turner to 2B.
-
any tony gwynn card ever released..can't hit with him
-
I wish I hit better with Sheffield and Gallo, I seem to swing better with shorter quicker strokes like Alomar or Mondesi
-
This year for me Ernie Banks, Hank Aaron and Willie Mays all just feel like they are going to be almost auto outs for me - just cant get the hang of their swing
On the other side of the coin I know some people dont like Groshan's swing - but ive had a bunch of success both offline and online with him

I think that's entirely normal. Some swings won't work for you, irregardless of their cards. Try different guys, there's so many options!
irregardless is a made up word. fyi
I learned something, thanks!
-
I don't use Gallo on my main squad or anything so it's not an issue really but he is probably THE worst hitter I have used in this game. Idk how people mash with him. Only time I use him at all is when trying to knock out AL West innings for TA.
-
This year I've had a few
99 Ortiz, Gary Sheffield, Donaldson -

Ernie Banks is one of my favorite players and every year I'm trash with him. Such a bummer.
That dude has the worst swing ever for me but yet kills me
-
Not been released yet this year, but the one that kills me is Al Kaline. As a lifelong Tigers fan, Mr. Tiger has a terrible swing in this game and plays well below his attributes.
I struggle with a lot of really good cards initially but it's usually trying too hard and swinging at everything. Moving whoever it is down in the order makes it easier to relax and make good swings.
-
This is why I don't tend to do collections or lock in sellable cards. Content creators and forum users love to pump up certain cards based on attributes or a handful of AB's. The reality is, there are a million factors that go into results, and you need a large sample size to know if you do well or poorly with certain cards.
On the surface Harold Baines looked like a very mediocre card, and there are plenty of other OF's with similar hitting stats, but much better fielding and speed.
In reality, he's currently my favorite card to use in the game.
-
I completed the NL collection fairly early with good pack luck and was stoked about Soriano but I cant hit very well...a few random Homeruns here and there

Irregardless is a word sometimes used in place of regardless or irrespective, which has caused controversy since the early twentieth century, though the word appeared in print as early as 1795.

Sounds like a legit gripe. People paying for this game, finally getting to the point where they can collect their very favorite players..then, for whatever trickery the AI spells, said player can't hit.
I'm going out on a limb and say the problem has nothing to do with the player's swing, or any of that happy HS. It's random chance with disregard to player card ratings and your favorite players happens to be on the low end of the code happenstance.
And, one more legitimate gripe for those folks that pay a lot of money and invest a lot of time to get these diamonds they covet so. Only to get the AI "chef's surprise".
Few years ago I used 2 vacation days of work to get 99 Billy Wagner as my closer. Man was I stoked when that time investment paid off and I got him. Billy "the kid" came from a very poor family in the mountain country of Virginia. He busted his [censored] to climb out of that poverty and make it. Always liked his story.
My very first utilization of him was in a 4-1 game in the 9th. The team I was playing that got a single home-run (their only hit through 8 innings) came to life and feasted on 'ol Billy. By the time the smoke cleared they were ahead 5-4. Everything I put on a corner, high-fast, etc. was hit hard. That was the last game of The Show I played that season. Also, got banned for sharing my unbridled irritation for this whole series of events.
Made a vow to myself to never play this freak-fest ever again. But, just couldn't stay away from this figurative crack-pipe. Every year we're promised that AI manipulation will be much less a factor. Every year...well, you know what I'm talking about.

you’re on the money with this one. last year I got that 99 papi as soon as I could but once I got him I couldn’t hit for [censored] online. Eventually bought him back later in the year and hit a little better but still not enough to stick with him
Big pci/trying to mash with the new 99 syndrome is real and I had it with Sheffield to start last year...moved him down in order and got his stride down then mashed
Just have to realize guys are gonna nibble to the roid boys like papi and stocker
