    Nope. Bad idea

So realism isnt a good idea? Lol ok kid.... sorry you dont understand what playing matchups is in baseball....

Calling it realism is a stretch....In real life - Yes, Teams know what pitcher they are facing...But also in real life - Teams don’t have Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr, Bryce Harper & Larry Doby sitting on their bench waiting for when a righty is gonna pitch 😂

Yeah as if the Braves are gonna bench Freeman whenever there's a lefty on the mound. Or the Angels will bring in a lefty for Trout when there's a righty pitching.

You just need to be better hitting left on left is what I get from this. You don’t seem to have an issue right on right

After being embarrassed by that impressive rizzo outing I bet they’re STILL regretting this!

It’s not that much of an issue anyway. Just had some switch or left left right right on your bench.

As someone above posted, it's the same offline. It's a bit annoying, but why change now?
Offline in Conquest, you can combat it by knowing what starter to use to get them to use their 4th starter, and so on.

No clue why this isn't already a thing. Cause In real life it's not like your opponents lineup is a secret..

All I really care about is the pitcher. Not being able to see their pitcher is ridiculous and can dramatically screw up your game.

For example I have Harper, Griffey, Ohtani, Seager who are all lefties and I start them every game. But if my opponent is starting a LHP, then I wont start all 4 of those guys cause my bench is really deep and I want to be able to play matchups later on in the game if I have to.

But since I cant see my opponents SP, I am forced to either start my lefty batters against a LHP and be at a disadvantage. Or I can put myself in a better position and once the game starts i can substitute in my right handed batters but then I lose those left handed hitters the rest of the game.....

It's absolutely stupid and makes zero sense to not show the pitcher.

Your best bet is to separate the lefties with righties and switch hitters.. just focus on lineup construction, for example lefties that hit lefties well should be higher in the order while platoons should be lower in the order to take advantage of at bats

In real life you can’t just leave and go find another game until you get what you want. Heck the way people are that play sports games you might not even be able to get in a game with a good pitcher.

Once you select your pitcher they should be locked in. So when you go to the next screen which is the lineup, you can see who the other teams starting pitcher is and your opponent can see yours. Should not be a huge or difficult change to make but would definitely add another level of strategy and team building to the mode.

If they did this then I’ll just come out with a reliever as an opener and then sub in my SP with the opposite dominate hand and you’ll be worse off than you are now. Then we’ll have threads complaining about openers and the cycle continues.

Yeah, that adds a huge level of strategy. If I see you select Glavine, I’ll hit circle twice and ready up to find another game where someone is throwing Sixto instead.

What strategy? Having 3 switch hitters and 5 lefties in your lineup with 5 righties on the bench? 100% guarantee that's what everyone would be doing. With he exception of trout and other 99 cards

I’ve brought this up on here in the past and someone made a good point that they intentionally set it up this way precisely to prevent ppl from stacking their lineups with opposite handed hitters depending on the pitcher. I definitely see your point, as in real life teams can adjust their lineup according to who’s on the mound, but I can also see why they do it the way they do.

It was worse off when you could set RHP/LHP lineups. I just platoon players that are really bad against same handed pitcher and pinch hit them first AB most of the time. I dont need 5 bench bats late in the game 99% of the time.

It's a terrible idea honestly. When I see these posts this is what I hear... "These changes need to made bc it will be easier for me and I don't like things to be hard" does that sound about right?

Seager and other good lefties do not sit vs Left handed pitching. He and other lefties play against them the majority of the time. If you want it to be realism go play franchise you can set your lefty and right handed lineups.

It makes sense if you played DD several years ago when this was a thing. Lefty pitcher would see 8 righty hitters. Righty pitcher would see 8 lefty hitters. You need to be able to hit same handedness and I think this way is better than the old way.

A solution would be you only can switch from your active players.... you would only have 5 batters on the bench each game to mix and match.

You notice how OP isn’t complaining about righty on righty. It’s not a matchup/strategy issue, it’s an “I can’t hit lefty/lefty” issue

    Wahhhhhhh

There is also another thing no one mentioned. If you could see opponent's lineup before the game, it would cause much more backups just because someone don't want to play against god squad, someone would backup cause Burnes on the mound again, or someone would hate some other SP.
It could be really hard to find some game
