Wait, so .. sorry I'm brand new to the game, but for like DD if you're playing against another player, you don't have set styles of hitting or pitching that you have to play with? Not even in ranked? So basically you can pick whatever style you want and play against someone playing whatever style they want? Like, I usually play with the slider bar (hit x twice) pitching because the move the right stick in patterns version is impossible for my brain to use for whatever reason. And I do the right stick hitting just cause it makes sense to me, but I could play against someone doing an easier or harder method and get crushed?

In Zone hitting you pick the timing and PCI location. In Directional you pick the timing and influence PCI location (or if you don't influence, it picks for you). Lol, no I’m not new. Plenty of cameras before strike zone that didn’t completely eliminate seeing the batter my guy. The baseball games I grew up playing had default cameras where you could see the batter, not just the strike zone and the batters junk.

Yes, you can use whatever method of hitting and pitching that you prefer only thing the same is hitting and pitching difficulty

Zone hitting is the most unrealistic style of hitting in the game...yes it takes skill, I don't disagree, but zone hitters can reach balls that no directional hitter can reach, and no human being in real life could reach for tha matter...the down and in off the shoe laces hit...the 2 feet outside hit...the up and in almost hitting you in the head hit, a lot of those for homeruns....ya zone is realistic my [censored]...skill yes, realistic hell no.

Obviously you dont use zone. The pci can only go half way on all edges of zone. The inner pci.
I do; you can still foul/hit with the outer PCI. Can’t stand directional, but I don’t mind people using it

What this comes down to is people getting angry because they are losing/have lost when they feel they should win because of how their opponent plays.

- Some teams run the wing-t (Football)
- Some teams go empty and throw (Football)
- Live and die by the three (basketball)

I do not hear anyone complaining that throwing the ball 40 times "isn't football" or that shooting 3s isn't basketball. So I find it pretty rich to have a gamer come on a baseball video game forum and tell people how they should play and how one way of playing shouldn't be allowed in competition. When fact is that their preferred way of hitting (zone hitting) doesn't accurately simulate hitting a baseball either.
So quit your complaining. When the servers are back-up, login, and do what you do: Stair down Rizzo's crotch from your Strike Zone Camera and act like you're amazing because you're moving a curser around a square.
FYI - Before you start laying claim that I use directional, I am a zone hitter. I find the arrogance of PCI users hilarious. Get over yourselves.

You do still know you have to be accurate in your swing and direction of the bat to be successful right? You can still swing and miss at a ball down the plate if you are early or late and you can still miss a ball if your directional swing is up and in but the ball is down and away. I haven't said once , to abolish that skilless attribute non player induced style of tee ball.
All I've Insinuated is to seperated the 2 styles in seperated categories so those who desire to face opponents based on user skills rather than playing a computer where user input is a minimum to absolutely null.
Let the tee ball boys play all they want BUT against each other and let the user input hitters play like minded and playing opponents.It's ridiculous to even imply that the 2 styles represent a comparable skill set.
IE: some kid I play strikes out 15-20 times and then my pitcher misses a pitch and boom a home run that puts him tied or up ?? Come on , how many times does this go on and is it a true fair match that ends up in extra innings with one player who has 3 times more foul balls and base runners compared to the others amount of strikeouts.

A competitive game?
OR just that dime a dozen hand holding toddler tee ball in a game vs a " player " where input and skill induced behaviors represent the action simulated on the field.Hmmm
We DO need an on/off toggle to get those people in a category by their selves just as guess pitch is in online rated.

So you say his comparisons are rediculous? And yet you say Directional is CPU controlled aiming? Do you honestly believe SDS would allow CPU controlled swinging in competitive? They have said many time it's based off user input. Alot of people use directional b/c it is closer to realistic so they claim. I'm beginning to think it is just a rant about losing to someone "you" thought was inferior.

So those of you who are against directional should also be against using separate teams with differing attributes right? Everybody should have a roster of the exact same players, exact same ratings. The players on the field shouldn't matter, only stick skills.
I can't tell you how many times I've had good/perfect timing with directional and hit it right to a defended because of RNG. When I use zone it's so much easier to foul off pitches off the plate, sit on spots or pitches. If I'm playing online I start with directional, then when I get frustrated by the RNG I will switch to zone and sit on certain pitches and location. You can abuse users who pitch the same patterns using zone. Directional you leave so much up to chance.

I can't tell you how many times I've had good/perfect timing with directional and hit it right to a defended because of RNG. When I use zone it's so much easier to foul off pitches off the plate, sit on spots or pitches. If I'm playing online I start with directional, then when I get frustrated by the RNG I will switch to zone and sit on certain pitches and location. You can abuse users who pitch the same patterns using zone. Directional you leave so much up to chance.
Thats called pitching and hitting...a chess match. On lower levels w all diamonds the.advantage is letting the cpu aim for you. Takes chess match out of it. If a guy is killin u up in zone all game you hang your pci there to try and adjuat faster...then as a pitcher you throw that one sinker or off speed down in zone and its tough to get too...with directional as long as he timed it ok its a hit or contact. ...its a joke.
I only play dd...but i could try rated cuz then it wouldnt be all 99 rosters......

It is a fact and thus why someone (* other than me) started this thread.The 2 hitting options of discussion are no way a comparison in any shape or form thus they need to be in two seperated categories or at least with a toggle option to isolate the different skill sets so the game is more enjoyable for the players who desire such.

- Some teams run the wing-t (Football)
- Some teams go empty and throw (Football)
- Live and die by the three (basketball)
- Get inside for the easy score/foul (basketball)

I do not hear anyone complaining that throwing the ball 40 times "isn't football" or that shooting 3s isn't basketball. So I find it pretty rich to have a gamer come on a baseball video game forum and tell people how they should play and how one way of playing shouldn't be allowed in competition. They also post in these forums... so you should know then that zone you have to aim and time and not just timing only. And yes losing to those using easier methods is [censored] on a so called user skill competitive setting...
