The main question is will it be on game pass for the whole year? What if comes off game pass in 3 to 6 months and you have to buy anyway to keep playing?
Even if it's 3-6 mo on game pass, you will still buy it at discount by being a gamepass subscriber

Wonder if it will be for both current and next gen or if it will be like nba 2k and only have current gen and no next gen. either way I"ve been buying the show for years and plan on buying this year as well

Buy the game. Pre-order packs and stubs always work out as more value than $100 in stubs at launch.
Packs are fire and prices stay up 2 days post launch until the first stub sale.

I pretty much side with this concept. The reality is that they can pull this off of gamepass after 3 months then not only did you spend $100 and not own the game, but you have to cough up more $to own it.
I'm going the gamepass route and crossing fingers that there's an optional 1 time bundle or something that's well under $100. I'll nms it if there isn't.
But to stay on topic, I'd spend $100 on the game instead of stubs

This is my first year not buying on playstation because i bought a series x after i couldnt get a ps5 when preorders dropped. but i have the 100$ game purchased and i have about 800$ saved for stubbs day 1... im going after trout asap

Not really, dude. I'm getting my new Xbox in the next week after playing this game on playstation for the last seven years. I think you may find yourself getting a few a$# whoopings if you see an xbox opponent and think it's going to be an easy win.

pre-ordered the $85 version and and just keeping it. It will drop off gamepass at some point, when is the question.

Also, is SDS really not going to say anything about this? I'm happy they're trying to get as many people as possible on the new platform but it really is a slap in the face of everyone who has played this game for the last decade +.
I think this could be tied to the agreement with the MLB and Sony. MLB Advanced Media is producing the game for the Xbox, wondering if the MLB forked over the cash for this deal.

They stated both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S versions will be there so Xbox users will be able to play the best version available.

As a Sony fanboy I’m ok with it on Game pass. Yes you get it day one but if you preorder you get it 4 days early. I highly doubt Sony is to upset with the whole game pass deal because if you love the game like most of us do, you will be buying Stubbs at some point to get packs or better players and all that money goes right to Sony. Xbox wins because it needed a baseball game, Sony wins because it gets to reach new customers with or without the game pass.

Did it cross your mind that they made a deal with Microsoft and was given deadline when Microsoft would probabally implement or announce it. Maybe deal was microsoft wanted to announce the info to thier system users first. Hence why video schedule is literally the next video.
Sorry people are going off the handle about no news on custom leagues. Custom leagues use DD players it is associated with DD not Franchise. But people are up in arm b/c it wasn't mentioned in franchise stream.
First of all, ouch. Secondly, I’m not saying SDS should’ve said something prior to the announcement, I’m saying they need to address it now that it’s out there, now, not next week.
There is no way SDS thought this would go over well with its fan base. All they have to say is “don’t worry PS family, we have something special for you too.” Or something similar. Then next week they can reveal it. That’s all, I just want to know that SDS isn’t ignorant to the situation.
I honestly do not think SDS has a whole lot of say in the matter. Technically, the MLB is the publisher of the game for other system.

Do both.
Why limit yourself to 1 console when there's cross progression lol
That way if PSN goes down, you can hop on Xbox and play. And vice versa lol -

150k stubs is way more than what you get with deluxe. As long as it stays on game pass all year, you will definitely be better off with the stubs.
Deluxe gets you:
2 diamond choice - roughly 20k each
6 gold choice - at best an average of 3k each
25k stubs
10 pack - 15k stubs
Total - 100k stubs value.The reason to buy the game isn’t stubs it’s the early access.

MLB published the game on Xbox so this was a deal brokered between MLB and MS. Sony and SDS likely have no knowledge of the deal until it was announced. Even if Sony had knowledge of the deal there is not much they could have said about it or done about it. MS saw a window and an opportunity to boast both the arrival of the game on their platform, boast their service and their new systems all in all a good deal. Sony could respond in some way but not sure how or just allow it and get ready to cash in at the same time with stubs being sold as that will for sure go into their pocket

Sony is kind of the real winner since they own SDS and all the money they’ll be making in stubs will double, maybe triple this year... I think this is a gesture to say “console wars are over, everyone won”
