appears the game will be available for GamePass members on the 20th
-
that is unreal.....talk about a grand slam...
-
They want you to buy stubs and packs... Heh
Great way to get people to play, by giving them the software for free.
Also, easy pickings for competitive players...
-
Man I was all set to pre-order and play in 2 weeks. That's going to be a long 4 days if there's no way to pay the difference for early access (which I'd happily do).

No. Game pass gives you many more games then the free than PS+, for a subscription of course. It's more like PS Now if you are familiar with that

This is amazing news. I have the digital deluxe edition pre-ordered for PS5, but I think I'll still keep it since I only have a Series S on the Xbox side. If I travel I am more likely to bring the Series S with me since it's so small, so I'm looking forward to trying out the cross progression.
I also had some friends that were on the fence, but they have game pass. No excuses now. Can't wait to play.

Ok ty! So xbox live would be the version they need to play online mode?

This seems like a really silly business move by SDS in my opinion. Why would anybody buy the game when you get it on game pass for free? Unless they are super confident all the people playing for free will load up on stubs and they can get their money that way, or maybe they only make it available for like a month and then they get enough people to buy it to keep playing for a discounted price or something.
This seems especially silly considering it used to be a playstation exclusive, and playstation is clearly losing the exclusives battle with xbox.
-
Game pass games are played over xbl
There are some purists who will keep their pre-orders to play early (can't put a price on time). But yeah I was set to buy the $100 version.
Thinking more about it, getting 25k stubs, the 2 diamonds, packs/golds, double dailies, early access vs 150k stubs - the difference isn't as large as 1 may think initially. Especially the time
-
prediction: major server issues at launch

I think you're forgetting about the $$$ that Microsoft gives developers for putting a game on Game Pass. Devs don't just put games on there out of the goodness of their hearts. I'm sure the beancounters at SDS determined that the money they received from Microsoft for however many months it will be on Game Pass (I'm guessing 2-3 tops) combined with positive press and word of mouth to a fanbase that has never had the game plus additional stubs sold would be a net gain for them. I would give them the benefit of the doubt on this one and assume they know what they are doing.
-
Great news for Xbox players.
It's kind of kick in the balls to the long term Playstation players who still have to pay full price. Game pass is such a great deal. For the cost of 2 new games a year ($120 yearly or $10 a month) they give you access to so many games, including new releases.
-
so both next gen and old gen are available on gamepass.
im now thinking to pickup a XB S as they're more readily available and it's $300 compared to $500 for X and PS5. I would just get the XB S for only this game.
-
I'm getting MLB The Show for "free" on both ps5 and Xbox Series S. Sweeett..
Thank you Amazon gift cards and Thank you Game Pass. But I'd be highly upset if I spent $100 on ps5 and Xbox got it for free tho lol
-
wow, I guess I'm canceling my $85 pre-order. I'll just buy it whenever it leaves gamespass for a lot cheaper.
Well, screw it, I'll just keep my pre-order and get the bonuses anyway. Already took work off the 16th and the double dailies will be nice. -

Exactly. MS pays a lot of money to get a game on Game Pass. I've read that the developer/publisher of the game also gets money based on number of downloads, time played, etc. The more people download and play the game, the more money they make.
-
I wouldn't pay a monthly fee to play 1 game, I'd rather own. This is good news for those who have GP I guess.

Big W for the XBox community - smart move to bring more new players in on the new platform

Agreed and with the fallout going on with fans toward EA and Madden. I think the influx for MLBTS 21 is gonna be huge. I am genuinely happy for xbox players!
